Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Priestess of Moonlight Pagoda

Within minutes, the Priestess of Moonlight Pagoda entered the reception room, escorted by two Bloodmoon Guardians. She walked forward and bowed before Li Yingshan. Li Yingshan waved her hand, and she straightened. The two Bloodmoon Guardians retreated before exiting.

The First and Second Elders stood off to Li Yingshan's right side. The Third and Fourth Elders stood off to her left. Han Shaolei still remained right beside her.

"Feng Jingjing冯婧婧 féng jìngjìng - given name meaning "Virtuous", you're Hero Xu's closest cousin. Now, he needs help, but unfortunately, I cannot go. But you, on the other hand, aren't presumed to be dead. You can aid him."

"Goddess, my cousin doesn't know I'm the diviner for Moonlight Pagoda. Must I go?"

Li Yingshan thought it over. Finally, she replied, "Yes. Hero Xu doesn't want anything to do with me. But you can take Miao Chuntao with you. Her martial arts are much better than yours; she'll be able to keep you safe from my brothers."

"Your brothers? Goddess, don't tell me you're sending me to do your dirty work!"

She winced at Feng Jingjing's accusation. Regaining her composure, she cleared her throat before speaking.

"Not my dirty work, per se. But Yingqin and Yingying are involved. So is my father."

"Then go help your husband. Don't drag me into your family issues."

A dark look crossed Li Yingshan's face. Coldly, she warned, "My patience is running out. I need someone to deal with this. And seeing as Hero Xu has all but disowned me as his wife, I have no business in returning there. You are his blood relative. So you can either choose to go, or I will use my status as the Goddess of Moonlight Pagoda to command you to go."

"Choose? Ch, what choosing? I have no choice either way."

"You are the Priestess of Moonlight Pagoda. Your job is not only divination but also to uphold the prestige of Moonlight Pagoda. Do not disappoint me. Don't forget how you came to be Moonlight Pagoda's Priestess."

Feng Jingjing had been a free martial artist. She wandered the Jianghu, carefree and happy. But when strange visions began to afflict her, she went to Luoyang and met with the Imperial Astrologer. He had explained to her how she was a diviner, chosen by the gods to relay their messages to the people on Earth. She had met with Feng Jingjing at the Jade Bell Inn there and offered her the position of Priestess within Moonlight Pagoda's ranks. After realizing that Moonlight Pagoda was probably her best option, Feng Jingjing had agreed, Once the headquarters had been built, she had moved in to Constellation House. And she never complained. She had a roof over her head and food to eat. And Li Yingshan had reached out to the Imperial Astrologer to teach her how to control her visions. After learning from him, Feng Jingjing hadn't suffered such painful blackouts ever again.

Knowing just much she was indebted to Li Yingshan, Feng Jingjing gritted her teeth. She lunged forward, and her cornflower blue ribbon flew out. Alarmed, the Pagoda Elders reached out to stop it. Han Shaolei gripped the hilt of his sword, ready to step in front and defend. But Li Yingshan held up her hand, silently ordering them all to not interfere. She leapt up out of the Crescent Throne, avoiding the ribbon's attack. Landing in front of her seat, she watched the ribbon wrap around the room in an arc.

"Feng Jingjing, do you really think this is a good idea? Surely you know that no one in Moonlight Pagoda has been able to beat me."

Li Yingshan laughed, "Truly worthy of being Moonlight Pagoda's Priestess! You were able to divine my intent before the report from Shangqiu even gets here!"

Feng Jingjing roared as Li Yingshan evaded her ribbon's attack once more. She slowly floated down in front of the entryway, clicking her tongue. Her Priestess was getting frustrated. For the next fifteen minutes, a weird battle took place in the reception room. While Feng Jingjing kept on attacking, Li Yingshan kept on dodging. The Pagoda Elders and Han Shaolei didn't understand. Their Goddess' martial arts were the best. Why was she only evading the ribbon instead of fighting back?

But the truth was: she didn't want to injure her husband's blood relative.

He already hates me now. If I actually attack and hurt his closest cousin, how will hero Xu react when he finds out?

"Li Yingshan! Don't look down on me! I'm not that fragile you know!" Feng Jingjing screeched.

Li Yingshan sighed inwardly. I suppose my reckoning is coming.

Appearing in her hands were her Crescent Blades. They were a two-set of curved moon blades. From the end of the hilt to the tip of the blade, if there were straight, they would be eighty centimeters long80cm is roughly 31.5 in. The shining steel blades were ever-sharp and reflective. The hilts were wrapped in black leather, and the pommel was made of brass.

Feng Jingjing's eyes widened. While she had heard of the legendary Crescent Blades, she had never once seen them in person. Looking at them now, a sense of dread washed over her.

Li Yingshan took her stunned moment to attack. Rushing towards her right, she used the Crescent Blade in her left hand to graze Feng Jingjing's left arm. This would be her only warning. When the pain dawned in her mind, Feng Jingjing cried out. She clutched her left arm and spun around.

"Li Yingshan, you're such a bully! Even daring to use your Crescent Blades on me who has little internal force!"

She put her Crescent Blades away, turned, and crossed her arms, staring down the young woman in front of her. "Feng Jingjing, you're the one who initiated the first attack. You also asked for me to attack rather than just keep evading you. I would've kept dodging until you tired yourself out otherwise."

Spinning on her heels, Li Yingshan returned to the Crescent Throne and sat back down. "It's only a graze. The wound will heal and not even leave a scar. Go back first. In three days, I expect you to set out with me for Longxin City."
