Chapter 164: One Hell Of A Ride

Xia Sha has been idle these days because the board director decided for Xia Sha to 'rest' from her position as Xia Corporation's Chief Operating Officer for a while. 

Xia Sha is very stressed about this, but Guan Xian told her to take this as a prolonged vacation. Although Wen Rou and Pang Ze Tian's matter does make her restless, she tried hard to let her fear affect her life. 

She reflected a lot from her action in the past. She realized being young and carefree doesn't meant she could do everything she wants and run away from consequences. 

So she spends half of January contacting and visiting her old friend to apologize and catching up. It does felt awkward for both Xia Sha and her 'friend' to suddenly apologized to her fellow friend, especially since the event happened in the past.

Xia Sha could not deny the tension and gaze she received to make her felt comfortable. But after apologizing, she felt a heavy burden has lifted from her heart and shoulder. 

Looking back from where she stood right now, Xia Sha felt her 'Queen Bee' title seems more like an insinuation rather than praise. That seat is not as glorious as she thought before. 

She felt ashamed of herself. 

Apart from apologizing, she has been spending more time accompanying Kai Xin. The happy pregnant woman. It's all getting better when Guan Xiao Ni comes back from Italy. Perhaps because Guan Xian asked her to spend more time with Xia Sha, Guan Xiao Ni accompanied her almost every day. 

Or rather, Guan Xiao Ni exploits her to help her plan for her charity event.

However, it makes Xia Sha realized that she likes spending time with Guan Xiao Ni. Her biggest frenemies and future sister-in-law. Cough! she could not believe she just called Guan Xiao Ni her future sister-in-law.

Xia Sha furrowed her eyebrow and closed her precious ears with her hand. 

"I should insure my eardrums if we remain friends in the future," Xia Sha murmured while staring at Guan Xiao Ni's shocked face. Xiao Ni shook her head, disregarding her indirect satire. 

"What are you thinking? Do you want to marry my brother? Like the brother that I know? This is not a prank, right?" Xiao Ni asked with a tone full of doubt. 

"Is that a bad thing? Should I change my mind...?"

Xia Sha raised her eyebrow and narrowed her eyes at Xiao Ni. Xiao Ni almost dropped her jaw to the ground after hearing Xia Sha's confirmation. She went blank for a while before she regained her composure. 

"Sorry. I did not mean it that way. I'm not biased, but my brother is a great guy. But marriage? It's like a whole different level. Are you sure you are not rushing things?" Xiao Ni sounds wise and sane for the first time to Xia Sha. 

Xia Sha looked downed and played with her skirt. But she cannot hide the sudden rosiness of her cheeks. Xiao Ni's eyes flare up when she witnesses Xia Sha's love-struck gesture. 

Xiao Ni grasped her shoulder and shook her upper body with urgency. 

"Must be an alien that clone Xia Sha's face. Tell me! Where did you hide Xia Sha," Xiao Ni glare directly at Xia Sha's eyes? There is a mixture of disbelief and wariness in Xiao Ni's gaze. 

Xia Sha rolled her eyes and break-free herself from Xiao Ni's grasp. 

"I know I look stupid and ridiculous right now. But marrying your brother is not something I decided out of impulse," Xia Sha murmured. 

"Well, this sounds very impulsive to me," Xiao Ni said quietly. She tried to choose words carefully to not offended her future sister-in-law. 

Gasp! Future sister-in-law! She could not believe there will be one day she would call Xia Sha her sister-in-law! It is insane!

Guan Xian is insane! Xia Sha is even more insane!

"You two are the most impulsive couple I ever met. Don't you realize how sacred marriage is? Marriage is not only two people who decided to become one. It's two families become one," she paused, take a deep breath before continuing her sentence. 

"Divorce is not a trivial thing. It's not as easy as breaking off your engagement, you know?"

Xiao Ni looked somber, perhaps because this conversation had triggered unhappy memories that happen in her life recently. She felt slightly guilty after she heard her remarks. She sounds like a pessimist that convinced the two of them would get a divorce in the future. 

"Sorry for being a prick. It just I don't want the two of you to miss each other because of the wrong timing. How many of us in this world live a miserable life because we missed the right person?" Xiao Ni mumbled, suddenly rest her head on Xia Sha's shoulder like a sad koala.

Xia Sha turned to her and suddenly broke into a burst of laughter. 

"Are you talking about yourself?" Xia Sha teased Xiao Ni while she patted her head. 

"It's not. I don't want the two young going through the same situations as Wang Kai and I. It hurt even worse when you can't be together when you love each other. It's a- pity," Xiao Ni pouted and hissed at Xia Sha. She let out a heavy sigh for a second time. 

"Silly! I'm saying I want to marry him, but I never say when we will get married right now."

"What??!" 

Xiao Ni sat straight and instantly shot Xia Sha a questioning look. She impatiently waits for her explanation, looking at Xia Sha as if she is an alien. 

"It's like this. Wen Rou asked me to break up with Guan Xian. She knows that she would have no chance against me if Guan Xian is backing me up. She threatened me with my friends and family. But the more I think about it, the more I did not want to part with your brother-"

"Don't call him my brother right now. It makes me cringe. Let pretend he is not my relative," Xiao Ni forced a smile. 

"Fine. I'll be honest with you. As you and everybody could tell from my action, I admit that I have a trust issue. I don't think I will ever trust a man, especially your brother and his notorious reputation. I committed to this relationship, but yet, at the same time, I was restless every day."

"That little part of me waited for the calamity to come. I subconsciously believed that we would break up one day. It just when the breakup is near, my brain got disfunction. The more I thought about breaking up with Guan Xian, the more I see the future with him. And it was-" 

Xia Sha could not find the word to complete her sentence. There are overwhelming happiness and indescribable excitement inside of her. Her heart pounds widely as a strange muscle deep in her belly clenched suddenly.

"I know I would regret my whole life if I miss that future with him," Xia Sha murmured, trying and failing to surpass the rising panic in her. 

Xiao Ni listened and watched Xia Sha's love-fool expressions. She averted her gaze and bitterly sighed. 

"I knew you two are deeply in love, but can't you stop rubbing it on my face? I just got dumped at national television for the love of God!" 

Xia Sha chuckled and let out her tongue at Xiao Ni. Both of them soon returned their focus to the stack of invitations on the table. Xia Sha examine the guest list and smirked when she read Pang Ze Tian's name. 

"Is this your brother's doing?" she curiously asked Xiao Ni, who seems busy with her checklist. Xiao Ni pursed her lips and looked at the paper Xia Sha handed to her. 

"Oh, yes. My brother requested to give Pang Ze Tian and your father a separate invitation. God knows what he is planning at my great charity," Xiao Ni mumbled. 

Xia Sha nods her head slightly, did not bothered to asked Xiao Ni again since she has made it clear enough that Guan Xian did not tell her anything. She continues to go through the list and found another intriguing name. 

"Yan Xi? Why did you invite Yan Xi? Won't Wang Kai went to berserk mode if he saw Yan Xi?" Xia Sha frowned slightly, but at the same time, she tried to guess Guan Xian's plan. 

"Pfft, Wang Kai won't have any right to do that. He would not dare. At most, He will sulk and left the party. But I'll make sure he donates before he leaves. Yan Xi is trying to revive his family's company. But since my brother and his friend squeeze him out of society, he couldn't find an investor. I hope that I could help him a little by inviting him."

"Now, Before you judge me. I did not help Yan Xi just because Yan Xi is my friend. I know he could never justify himself for what he has done to Kai Xin. He is fucked up, and I probably played a role in that. But I want to keep both options for Kai Xin's baby."

"Ruan Jing Tian would be a great daddy, but you can't deny the blood that runs on the baby's veins," Xiao Ni explained her reason to invite Yan Xi. She looks a little tense when Xia Sha looks at her expressionlessly. 

Xia Sha's titled her head and fixed her gaze on Yan Xi's name. Xia Sha hated this bastard for what he had done to Kai Xin. There is no way she will let him get close to Kai Xin and her baby again. 

However, she still needs to investigate Pang Ze Tian's wedding ring in his house. So Xia Sha composed herself and toughed her heart. 

"Hah, your charity event will be one hell of a ride,"
