Chapter 243: That's Only Happening In My Mind

Guan Xian never likes the smell of the hospital room. However, he had repeatedly walked in the cold hallway this past month. His murderous aura was completely different from this usual smiling expression. 

"Uncle, I'm sorry, I failed to protect Xia Sha," Guan Xian admitted his mistakes the moment he appeared before Xia Qi Feng.

Xia Qi Feng look at the immaculately dressed man, who stands straight with his head bowed at him. He looks composed regardless of how pale-looking he is right now. Looking at the young man, Xia Qi Feng knew no matter what crisis happens, Guan Xian would overcome it. 

Sometimes Xia Qi Feng still couldn't believe that Xia Sha would get married to Guan Xian. Not that he looks down on his daughter, but based on the former candidates she has chosen, Xia Qi Feng thought Xia Sha has a 'unique taste in man, and he likes to blame that on himself. 

He had engraved a deep trauma to that little girl that she seems blind when it comes to man. 

Xia Qi Feng wouldn't deny that Guan Xian is a suitable partner for Xia Sha. And he secretly had taken a liking at him, so hearing him apologizing for an accident doesn't make him comfortable. 

"Sigh, this is an accident. Don't be so hard on yourself," Xia Qi Feng tried to comfort Guan Xian with his limited words. 

Guan Xian shook his head and firmly stated, "No, I could be better than this. I shouldn't be careless just because everything seems fine on the surface." 

"It's okay, don't fall too deep into your guilty feeling. There is no use to that. Let focus on something to solve this situation, okay?" Xia Qi Feng asked with an awkward tone as he quickly cleared his throat and averted his gaze from Guan Xian. 

Guan Xian was slightly stunned by Xia Qi Feng's action, but he quickly nodded his head. Although he knew he could never forgive himself if something happened to Xia Sha. 

"I definitely will investigate this scheme throughout," Guan Xian declared, looking all serious when he caught something from the corner of his eyes. 

"Scheme? I thought its an accident?" Xia Qi Feng turned to Xia Xiang with a confused face. 

Guan Xian furrowed his eyebrow as he looked at Xia Xiang with suspicion. His sharp gaze makes Xia Xiang's eyes shook tremendously in shock. 

"I- I thought it's a robbery when I got there's a man wearing mask asking for the vault location," Xia Xiang explained stammered. She dared not to look straight at Guan Xian and fixed her gaze on Xia Qi Feng. 

"But why would a robber use poison as his weapon? And most of all, why is there Meng Ran on Xia Sha's bedroom?" Guan Xian furiously stated. 

His eyes sparked violently beneath the icy mask he wore. His intense eye contact was unavoidable. Xia Xiang finds herself on the edge of a mental breakdown when he cast another question, "You were there with Xia Sha when the accident happen?" 

Guan Xian is not stupid or a forgetful person. He knew right from the start that Xia Xiang couldn't handle pressure. She switches sides according to the situation without a thought, and Guan Xian likes this type of person.

"I-" Xia Xiang couldn't finish her answer. 

"Yes, she called me and was there when I arrived," Xia Qi Feng answered when Xia Xiang couldn't answer Guan Xian. 

Xia Qi Feng turn to Xia Xiang furiously. Some veins in his neck were popping as he asked, "Xia Xiang, do you have something to tell me?" 

Xia Xiang shook her head as she broke down into tears, "No, I don't know what happens! I didn't lie to you, dad. We are talking when suddenly robbers barge inside the house. We tried to fight with gold sticks and samurai swords, but he choked a wine on sister then the next second, he," 

Those round, horrified eyes of Xia Xiang look at Xia Qi Feng before she falls to the ground. Xia Qi Feng strides forward to picked Xia Xiang from the floor as he asked Guan Xian to find a doctor. Guan Xian half-heartedly went to help Xia Xiang as he had some speculation about her. 

He secretly orders someone to keep tabs on Xia Xiang on her ward and crazy Meng Ran on Xia Sha's apartment. 

The uncertainty of the event makes Xia Qi Feng sat quietly on the hospital bench outside the emergency room. He didn't dare to inform Shen Xia Fei about Xia Sha right now, especially when one of the culprits might be his stepdaughter. 

Out of all the unfortunate moments in his life, the encounter with Pang Ze Tian and invite her to Xia Manor is Xia Qi Feng's biggest regret. Xia Sha wouldn't have to go through so much if he wasn't so stupid and selfish in the past.

Ji Xun Ci and Jian Jun come rightward after Guan Xian sends them a message. Both had firm expressions on their face when they arrived. 

"How long has she been in there?" Ji Cun Xi asked after he regained his composure. 

Guan Xian shot a short glance at the closed door and mumbled weakly, "Three hours."

"Good sign. Means, she is still alive," Jian Jun said, turning to Guan Xian with an indifferent expression.

Guan Xian squinted his eyes at Jian Jun but said nothing about his weird way comfort people. But eventually, because of Jian Jun, Guan Xian's tensed shoulder dropped. 

"We fought before the accident. I should've walked her home. Nothing will happen to Xia Sha if I didn't listen to my stupid ego," Guan Xian mumbles as his finger runs through his hair. 

"Nah, you shouldn't have left for your 'hunting' journey," Ji Cun Xi raised his eyebrow as he gave Guan Xian a side glance. 

Guan Xian let out a frustrated groan as he got up and punched a wall. Jian Jun shot Ji Cun Xi a questioning look, where Ji Cun Xi averted his gaze. 

"Geez," Jian Jun rolled his eyes before he walked to Guan Xian and pushed his shoulder to make him sit. 

"Look, although it's not the best time to talk about this right now, I still need to remind you of people you provoked. Tan Kun's case had opened up the Asia drug syndicate. And the only reason why you aren't dead yet is you are a Guan. They start messing with some of your subsidiaries. You knew sulking here isn't going to make your work done. So, can we get your focus back on the track?" 

Guan Xian looked up straight to Jian Jun's eyes with confusion on his mind, "I don't understand why everyone thinks that I haven't done my responsibilities? Yes, I spend most of my time finding wedding presents for Xia Sha, but I also solve the company problems along the way."

"That is because you are so absorbed with your mission that you forgot your main mission," Ji Cun Xi let out a heavy breath before he added, "Come on, bro, Xia Sha going around the city like a madwoman, and you weren't there for her. I almost forget that you are the groom." 

"I knew. I knew! That is why I feel so guilty right now. You don't have to emphasize that. I only wanted to make her happy, and I realized that's only happened in my mind!" Guan Xian said, wiping his face with his hand roughly. 

"The diamond, they were my father's unfulfilled promise for my mother. I thought if I could get it for Xia Sha, it could symbolize a happy marriage like my parents have, minus the mistake my father made," Guan Xian blurt out after a second of silence. 

Jian Jun and Ji Cun Xi look at each other as they couldn't respond to Guan Xian's monologue. They knew Father Guan's infidelity still is the sour spot on Guan Xian's heart. None of them like to bring it up, just because they knew how painful it caused Guan Xian. 

"Look, man, I'm a single dog and don't have an experience in love. But based on the novel my girlfriend read, it said that there is no perfect relationship. You will hurt her, and she will hurt you, but that doesn't mean the two of you didn't love each other because love is about choosing each other over and over again, despite the situation that occurs," Ji Cun Xi said with a solemn expression. 

"That doesn't sound like bullshit," Jian Jun comment, before he turned to Guan Xian and said, "You could listen to Cun Xi's advice. He is, after all, someone who failed to move on after five years. The father of true love." 

Guan Xian is about to say something when the emergency room door opens, revealing the responsible doctor. Dropping all the conversation and thought he had, Guan Xian asked the doctor about Xia Sha's condition. 

"We are glad to inform you that the patient is safe. But the mixture of alcohol and cyanide had affected her oxygent intake. She might be unconscious for days. We still need to perform more tests. Let's hope for the best."

Guan Xian frowned the moment he watched the doctor's expression. The doctor looked unsure as he prepared to walk away as he reread Xia Sha's body report. 

"Doctor, what do you mean?" 

"I meant, there are possibilities of a patient falling into coma states."
