Chapter 66: Rescue

Nathan and several bodyguards finally arrived at the location where Erick's car was. The atmosphere was very quiet, and there were no more thugs. In fact, only a handful of cars pass there.

"Sir, he's not in his car," said Anthony after checking Erick's car.

"Damn it, lest he was kidnapped!" Nathan said angrily. He immediately got out of the car, glanced around which was very quiet and there was no sign of Erick's whereabouts.

"Sir, I found the coordinates of his phone not far from here, even leading to the forest," said Willy, looking at his phone.

"Well then we'll find him now!" cried Nathan.

Willy was walking as directions. He was followed by Nathan and a few bodyguard while the others were still waiting around the car or maybe looking for CCTV to find out who had attacked Erick.

After almost walking for about 200 meters Nathan and the bodyguards entered a dark forest area, causing him and the bodyguards to use phone flashlights to light their way. .finally they found a body that was lying limp with a battered face and a bloody stomach, even a knife was still stuck there.

"Gosh, Erick!" Nathan immediately panicked.

Anthony immediately sat down and held Erick's hand by the wrist. he felt the man's pulse still beating but still enough, then looked back at Nathan who was crouching beside him.

"Sir, he is still alive. He must be taken to the hospital immediately!" he said.

"Okay, let's take him now!" Nathan said swiftly. he stood back up and walked towards his car again while Erick was cut off by several bodyguards.

Remembering Erick's very worrying condition, the Bodyguard jogged around carrying Erick who was very weak with blood still gushing out of his stomach. Nathan also immediately contacted the ambulance without caring about the investigative evidence because for him life was more valuable than anything.

Under a bridge to be precise in a river, Ronald finally managed to get out of his car which is now sinking. The burly policeman tried to keep swimming to the shore with all his might, enduring the pain all over his body from being hit and injured when his car hit the guardrail of the bridge.

'I had to hide myself from the public after this incident. no one will even know that I survived... Because that will keep the damn police and Casey's brothers stalking me because I'm the one who did the investigation on that car,' Ronald thought as he continued to swim with his breath starting to panting . Luckily there were lights around the bridge that lit up the area, making him smile with relief when he saw the land.

"Ugh, God. I think I'm going to die," Ronald whispered breathlessly. he kept on swimming and kept on swimming until he finally came to land and lay down on the grassy ground. The man was panting, soaking wet, trying to steady his breathing again.

"I have to ask Fabrizio for protection after this…only he and his boss can protect me," Ronald whispered as he looked up at the sky lit only by the moon. "No one should know that I'm still alive, and Fabrizio still keeps the evidence, even copying it several times...I'm going to keep quiet until finally Fabrizio and I find a lot of evidence that Casey's brother and that damn police did all this..."

Ronald closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the relief until a siren sounded in the bridge area. He opened his eyes again and glanced at the bridge that was already very crowded.

"I have to get out of here, they can't find me!" said Ronald when he realized that on the bridge was an ambulance, a team of police and firefighters who might get a report about the accident.

With a limp, even occasionally crawling, Ronald walked away from the river. he reached into his trouser pocket, took out his phone which was no longer usable because it was exposed to water. Out of breath, he glanced around which was very quiet, even still far from the roadside area.

"I have to find a payphone so I can call Fabrizio," Ronald said, then continued walking very slowly because he was getting tired and weak.

At Nathan's mansion, Clara can't sleep well because she keeps thinking about Fabrizio's statement regarding the results of the investigation which even indicated that Oskar might have cut the brakes on her car. The woman who was lying on the bed with the plain white sheet was also restless because Nathan had not yet returned after suddenly leaving in a hurry.

'If it's true that Oskar was the one who wanted my death? then is it possible that uncle Robert, Mia, and aunt Julia also want that? That means they've been nice to me not really out of sincerity, but with a purpose.' Clara wondered in her heart, with tears that just fell when she remembered every moment of her togetherness with her uncle's family.

Clara tilted her position into a crouch. She wept and continued to weep for her poor fate since she was too young.

"Mom ... Dad ... If you never had an accident, maybe now I am always safe in your protection ... Maybe I will not get fake love from them," Clara whispered in tears.

Clara sighed and wiped her tears with her palms. She sat up and glanced at someone it was Arion sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Is this all Oskar's doing?" She asked, still in disbelief.

"Even you already know that according to the existing theory. but the proof will make you more sure," answered Arion calmly.

"Is it possible that Uncle Robert was also involved?" asked Clara again.

"The person who is the meanest towards you is Robert . . you will know all the bad things that have been done to you, even apart from the accident that happened to you," explained Arion, who for some reason didn't beat around the bush when telling.

Clara cried even more because her heart ached so much, she had no idea that the uncle she loved who she considered her real father was the most dangerous person in her life.

"Why is uncle like that?" She asked.

"You will know by yourself…but my advice, you don't rush to solve this case before Fabrizio finds a lot of evidence about the ugliness of Oskar and your uncle. You can use Nathan to help you in exposing your uncle's badness," explained Arion casually.

Clara suddenly frowned, looking at Arion in surprise. "Yesterday you asked me to prevent Nathan from interfering in this case. Then why are you now asking me to ask for him? Are you trying to drive me crazy?"

"That's for the best because now he's safe. he is safe because neither Oskar nor your uncle will be caught him again after conducting his investigation with his confidants.
