Silence fell across the room as the door clicked close.

All eyes fell on the golden-winged lady, who was shaking with what seemed to be rage.

“Grrrgh! That old hag got me this time!” she growled. "I've had enough!"

A golden flame combusted into existence on her right eye, as well as both her hands.

Kna’Ve slid over to her, giving a kiss on both cheeks simultaneously.

The fires on Lady Amare dwindled a bit.

She then took a step back, taking in the appearance of the dragonoid.

“Are you calm now, Rua?” she asked, both faces grinning knowingly.

The golden girl’s cheeks flushed as she nodded. The flames completely sputtered out.

‘Maybe she’s not that scary after all…’

“Now, I know that you weren't expecting her to say that. Neither was I. But that doesn’t mean you can call my mother-in-law a hag.” Kna’Ve scolded.

‘Mother-in-law? Interesting. So, they are together. I figured as much from what Mayari told me before…but interesting.’

“But she’s literally a hagfish! It’s the same thing!” Lady Amare argued.

“We both know it’s not,” the two-headed lady glared.

“Fine, fine. You’re right, VeVe.”

“Also are you being rude to little Maua too? I understand why you’re angry, but she doesn’t.” Kna’Ve continued. “You don’t have to tell her, but at least reframe from directing your frustrations at her.”

Taking in her significant other’s scolding, Lady Amare looked at me, eyes smoldering.

‘I stand corrected. She’s still the most absolutely terrifying person I’ve ever seen before.’

Her gaze softened as she began to suppress her anger.

She took in a deep breath.

“I apologize Maua,” she said, bowing her head. “I’ve shown you something unsightly. I understand it might be hard to bear, but I’ll be your master from today on.”

“Of course, please don’t mind it,” I replied. “But if I may ask, what does you becoming my master actually entail? Am I becoming a slave?”

‘If she says yes, I’m taking my chances at a dash for the door.’

“Huh?” she asked in shock. “Oh right, you don’t know. Master is the formal term, but don’t worry it’s nothing like that. It’s more like a mentor or a teacher. You’ll be becoming my disciple.”

‘Okay, phew.’

I let out a breath of relief.

“While we're here, I might as well clarify a couple more things.” Lady Amare continued. “First, let’s start with the relationships between me and the others. I saw your ears perk up earlier when it was mentioned. Kn’Ave is my girlfriend. Mayari is my niece. The guildmaster is my mother.”

I unconsciously brought my hands up to touch my ears.

‘So my ears give away my thoughts? I’ll have to be more careful from now on. But I was right! I knew they were related somehow!’

Lady Amare grinned slightly at the motion.

“Haha. Your face is pretty much expressionless, but your ears are a dead giveaway.”

“...”

She chuckled again, seemingly enjoying teasing me.

“There’s no need to have your guard so high around us anyways. It’s also fine if you’re a bit more informal. No more of this ‘Lady Amare’ stuff. Call me Master Rua, or just Master. I won’t bite your head off for speaking your mind.”

“Uh…yes, Master,” I replied.

“You’re still too stiff,” she said, bringing down a fan she pulled out of nowhere on my head. “Do you have any questions for me right now?”

“Well, you said that you, Mayari, and the Guildmaster are related. But you all don’t look like you’re even the same race. Is that normal or are you all not related by blood?”

“Hmm. Well, it’s not necessarily normal, but it's not that odd either. But our family in particular is an interesting case. And we’re related by blood, kind of. It won’t really make sense if I tell you how it works right now. It’s a pain so, I’ll explain it more some other time. Anything else?”

“Well, I understand what you being my master means…but I’m not sure why I need one or what you’ll be teaching me?”

“Well, the first one… I’ll explain it later. Again, won't make much sense right now, so just hold on to that. Sorry, a lot of things need a sit-down lesson to actually click. As for the other one, I’ll be teaching you…well, everything. How the guild works, how to conduct yourself, and other things like that. Basically, I’ll be taking care of you from now on.”

“I’ll also be helping out,” Kn’Ave smiled.

“Oooh. Me too!” Mayari interjected. “Hehe. You can call me Master Mayari.”

‘What’s this feeling? Ah…I know.’

“In that case, thank you, I’ll be relying on you all.”  I bowed my head.

As I raised my head, I saw all three of them staring at me.

“Um…why are you all staring at me?”

“Because you just smiled a little bit, and it was…” Kna’Ve trailed off.

“It was…” Murua continued.

“It was…” Mayari added.

“SO CUTE!” they all shouted together.

After a couple of minutes, the three of them seem to have recovered from whatever they were dealing with.

“Maua. Would you like to go on a tour of the Guild?” Mayari asked.

“I would love to.”

“Great, in that case, Mayari please show here around,” Murua said.

“Master, aren’t you coming as well?”

“Ah…about that. I would love to come but Kna’Ve and I have some business with a certain hag- I mean lady…” my master replied, moving towards the door, dragging Kna’Ve along. “After you all are done with the tour, we’ll all go get something to eat.”

The door clicked close behind them.

“Well, then,” Mayari said, hand extended to me. “Shall we be off?”
