He woke up slowly, feeling the warmth of the sun brushing across his face, while listening to the tranquil sound of the ocean waves hitting the beach.
He felt himself laying on soft sand, and although his throat was dry, he felt more relaxed than he’d done in a long time.
Some minutes passed before he started thinking about how he came here, and a couple more minutes passed before he started to care.
He remembered a stressful life, with overtime at his office workplace, his only respite reading and watching one piece on his phone, before falling asleep as soon as he got home every day.
Even though the pages of One Piece were black and white, they felt like they had more color than the grey subway tunnels.
He remembered making the wish to also live in the One Piece world, right before he lost consciousness, two bright lights and a heavy impact still bright in his mind.
He thought he was dead, his vision completely white, before everything disappeared.
Opening his eyes again slowly, squinting at the clear blue sky above him, corns of sand sticking to his sweaty hands, he was sure that he was far away from his old home.

He got up to a sitting position and looking at himself, he was wearing the same clothes he wore at the first day of high-school, when he was sixteen years old. His body and skin looked clean and unblemished, and feeling his cheeks; they were completely devoid of beard growth.
Had he really been given a second chance, had he gone back to the first day of high school?
But wait, looking around him all he saw was the white sand of the beach, on what looked like an island, and on his other side, he saw a small port town with some ships anchored to the port.
What was even more surprising, was that one of the ship was obviously a pirate ship, with a jolly roger flag raised high upon the mast.
Did he really get transported to the One Piece world, just like he had wished for, before his meeting with the truck?
Just the thought made his entire body giddy with excitement, and he could feel the hair on his arms rise.
He got up from his position, and started walking fast towards the town, hoping that he would be able to recognize anyone, anyone at all from the show, because if he could, that would mean it was really true!
He was trotting along, at it only took around 10 minutes before he made it to town, which was more of a rural village, with an inn in the center, and a broad main road, leading from the port to the inn.
The town was surrounded by lush green fields, with houses and windmills, and walking into the inn, he finally believed that he was in the one piece world.

Standing behind the bar counter was a woman with dark green hair, tied in a ponytail with a bandana. She looked like a complete supermodel, even though she seemed almost thirty years old, and she was the spitting image of the barkeeper Makino in Luffys home town.
He pushed open the cowboy style bar-flaps and entered into the bar, but he became so stunned seeing Makino in real life, that he froze.
“Welcome, what can I do for you, I haven’t seen you around here before?” she asked.
“Uhm, yeah, I’m sorry” he said.
“I just woke up on the beach, after becoming ship-wrecked, do you mind telling me where I am?” he asked.
She put her hands to her mouth, in shock, and asked him. “Are you all right? You have sand all over your clothes, are you hurt anywhere?”
“I’m fine, luckily” he answered.
“You are lucky you stranded here then, this is Windmill village, on Dawn Island, and it's a peaceful place, mostly” She said.

“That’s great, I didn’t drift too far away then.” He answered, completely overwhelmed to be on Luffys home island, talking to the barkeeper of Windmill island.
“Excuse me for not introducing myself, I’m Lucas, but people call me Luke, and I'm also from East Blue. I was on a merchant ship, but we met with some pirates, and sank before we could make it to our destination”
He tried looking detached and sad, which in the end wasn’t very hard, as he had just been transported to a completely different world, and it seemed to work, as Makino looked at him with a caring expression on her face.
“I’m Makino and I’m the barkeeper here in the best and only bar on this island, Party’s bar. Feel free to stay here, and food and lodging will be on the house, as long as you help out around the bar.” Makino said.
He was completely elated, being able to live here in this bar, even though he had no money and lacked experience in this world.
“Yes, I would love that!” he answered, with a smile. His first smile since he came to this world.
As Makino showed him to a room, and asked him questions about him, about his age and his trip, his mind couldn't completely follow along. He was thinking about what time he was in the main story, and if Luffy was still here on the island, yet to go out to sea.
The important things were that he couldn’t interfere with the main story, as that would change the entire fate of the world, but he still wanted to meet and become friends with the characters and become a powerful in this world.
But first, he needed to know where he was in the timeline.
Luckily, before he needed to ask, the answer already came running like a tornado into the bar.
Monkey D. Luffy ran into the bar, and sat at a barstool, a bright smile on his face, looking just like he did in the manga, he was completely real, and looked like a real person. Lanky, and not yet super muscular, his smile goofy but very friendly, and a special glint in his eyes.
“Hey Marino, you have any food, I’m starving?” Luffy asked.
Marino and Luke came out from the back, and Luffy asked right away.
“Who’re you?”
“Who are you?” Luke asked back.
“I’m Monkey D. Luffy, the man that will become the pirate king!”
“I’m Luke, the man that was shipwrecked and is now stuck on this island”
Luffy looked surprised, before asking.
“Really, that’s some bad luck.”
“Yepp, I’m just happy to be in one piece, and luckily I can stay here at the inn for a while to recuperate, thanks to Marino” Luke smiled at Marino.
“Marino is a great person” Luffy smiled, putting his thumbs up, before talking the steak Marino came with from the kitchen and rushing out the door.
Before he was completely out, Luke yelled “Hey, how old are you Luffy?”
“I’m 16, but when I become seventeen in eight months, I will travel out to sea!” Luffy answered, running while chewing on a piece of meat.
Luffy was allready out the door, probably going to train alone in the forest, now that Ace had gone out to sea, leaving Luke sitting on a barstool thinking to himself.
He was lucky, the story had yet to start, and he still had time to become stronger himself. This was a world of brilliance, where the limits of humans were much, much higher, and he would also have to become stronger, to be able to use his knowledge about this world, and to enjoy this new life!
