“Father…Father!”

As I looked down at what I had done all I could think to do was laugh. But the moment I opened my mouth all I could see was the sight of my own blood.

My armor was broken into pieces, my sword shattered in two, and my body felt as cold yet hollow as I moved forward toward the voice calling me.

It was none other than my daughter…I don’t know how she got to me here but I knew that she was safe. After all, every single enemy soldier I had fought was nothing more than a mutilated corpse. Each and every member of the Zun empire was dead, and it was by my hand alone. The battlefield was wrecked with each tall building and grassy plain ruined by the sight and smell of death. My own soldiers were all dead and died smiling when the enemy slaughtered them…just as I had trained them. They indeed were the strongest warriors I could have ever wanted in life…but then were all dead…and by my orders alone.

So where did that leave me? Simple really. The Warrior of the East was still standing watching as their fifteen-year-old daughter ran towards them through each and every single carcass that this forsaken battlefield left. The sky filled with clouds as heavy rain poured over me like a cleansing. A cleansing of sins I had committed, a cleansing of the lives I’ve taken…a cleansing of my soul. So, where did that leave me now?

Simply waiting…to hold my daughter once before I passed on to the next life.

One foolish man’s dying wish. A wish he didn’t deserve but a desire he was going to achieve dammit!

“Father…It’s okay! I’m here, I’m here! We’ll get the healer to heal your wounds, we’ll get you fixed up…we’ll get you…we’ll get you…Don’t leave me as mother did…please…don’t leave me…” My daughter cried as I embraced her holding onto her as I fell onto the floor.

“I’m sorry Ai…I…can’t hold on for much longer…that last enemy strike wasn’t a flesh wound…but…”

“But what Father…No…No, don’t leave me…Don’t leave me!” She begged and protested as my body had already fallen onto the ground and my breath became fainter and fainter the more I took a larger breath.

But call it whatever you like, the passage of life, fate, or even the right to one’s selfish desires but even though I would leave my daughter all alone…I couldn’t bare to fight to live anymore. All the fight was now gone. And as I lay on the floor holding my daughter’s hand I slowly moved it toward her cheek wiping a tear from her face. There was only one thing I could think to do.

“Goodbye, my sweet Ai, may I see you In the next lif…sigh…” I said as my eyes closed and my breath left my body.

And for a moment all I could hear was the voice of my daughter say only three words…those words being.

“I…love…you…”

“So, Bingwen, Warrior of the East, we meet again.” Said a mysterious voice I hadn’t heard in a while.

“Lixin, the immortal lord of the dead…to what do I owe this displeasure of seeing you once again?”  I said bowing to the bastard himself.

Lixin, the immortal lord of death himself looked down at me on a throne of skulls covered head to toe in black robes. He may have been ruthless and unkind to everyone and everything yet he looked as if he was beyond anyone’s time with silk-smooth black hair, pale white skin, and the youthful look of an immortal. Surrounded by his minions who looked ready to rip apart my soul if they got the chance.

Seeing him throughout my living life and even serving under him until my time now he always was pompously ready to use for his own goals.

And this time it was no different…except for the fact I could no longer serve him in the mortal realm, which meant he had other plans for me.

To which that was I did not know.

“Heh Heh, well, this time instead of bringing you slaughtering tasks I offer you a deal, after all, there is no land of the living left for you to turn to and your karma is beyond a reasonable doubt endlessly difficult to reincarnate into anything that would think to live. So, I offer you a deal Bingwen, one you will find most suitable to your liking.” Said Lixin walking down his throne past his minions in this void he had summoned me to.

“And what kind of deal would that be Lixin? After all, I am already dead and should be in Diyu right now but yet you summoned me here? What could you possibly offer me that I would take?” I said staring at him in the eyes as he looked down at me so close we could nearly butt heads.

“Well my dear mortal, I offer your daughter the ability to advance faster than anyone on your mortal plane can in cultivation…” Said Lixin right before I shut him down.

“And why in the heavens would I take that?!? Ever since the great heavenly reckoning cultivators could no longer achieve apotheosis, besides, she would not bother with being an immortal in her lifetime…"

“Fu Fu, You do not understand Lixin, she will need this power in order to handle the war that will come her way.” Said Lixin walking in a circle as he spoke.

“A war? What war? Lixin…what WAR!” I said now getting confrontational even though my soul could never amount to fighting and winning against Lixin.

“Well you see Bingwen, a great immortal has caused many issues for both the heavens and the mortal realm that no one dared challenge him, and with that, he plans to begin a war on the mortal realm…one of complete domination. He only wishes to cause great chaos and possibly…end your mortal realm for good. So, Bingwen, what do you say to my deal?” Said Lixin with the biggest smirk on his face I had ever seen.

“And what will you do if I say no?” I said crossing my arms as my eyebrow raised over my head.

“Well Bingwen, I shall just send you to Diyu, nothing will become of you, but your dear daughter Ai will suffer through agonizing violence if you do not take that deal. Beasts ripping her apart, demons taking her soul energy to be mutilated or even worse. Think about this Bingwen…do you really think you could truly be okay with the mutilation of your daughter’s soul? I think not.” Said Lixin summoning a kettle and cup of tea.

“I…I shall take the deal, but what do I have to do for my side of the deal?” I asked lowering my arms as I looked at Lixin as he finished sipping his tea.

“You fought well in many battles, one does not simply gain the title of Warrior of the east simply without slaughtering entire armies singlehandedly like you have. Even slaughtering cultivators who were still alive after the heavenly reckoning and yet you were victorious. For you my dear favorite mortal Lixin, I want you to lead my army against the bastard immortal that wishes to destroy your mortal realm. So Lixin, what do you say? Will you help me lead my army as long as your daughter achieves apotheosis?” Said Lixin offering me his hand.

To something like that? Of course, I would have to take it. What other reason would there be not to take it? After all, Lixin may have been a bastard but a liar he was not. So with a single strike of my palm onto his hand, I could only say one thing and one thing only.

“I accept your deal, you immortal bastard!”

“Heh heh heh heh, splendid, SPLENDID! Well then Bingwen, your journey begins…NOW!” Said Lixin letting go of my hand.

And as he let go of my hand giant black hands emerged from the abyss tearing apart my flesh and replacing it with metal-painted white armor. I felt no pain as my flesh was ripped apart because, in the end, it did not matter. My true flesh had been mutilated on the battlefield. What remained was merely a manifestation of my soul. And yet, It did not matter for now all that was left of me was what I could see.

And what I saw was the body of general armor colored white.

And yet the more I tried to think of my daughter the more…wait…what am I thinking…am I…I must…I must serve…serve who…I must serve…

“Lord Lixin.”

“What a fool you are Bingwen, you weren’t even dead, I merely took you from your death and placed you here. After all, why would an immortal bother with making an army? Unless they wanted to invade the mortal realm. You really are idiotic as you look. No matter, your brain Is nothing more than mush now. So my fellow general…how do you say we invade your mortal realm…right…about…NOW!”
