Chapter 1: Prologue

Long ago in the world of Alterina there lay a continent to the east that was governed by the 3 great nations and was inhabited by the human race. Though there had been conflicts in the past due to the recent peace treaty there was peace and good times. But to the west laid the dark continent a place that was the incarnate of darkness and terror. 

This continent was split between the 52 demon lords and their respected clans. There was plenty of infighting with each demon lord trying to back stab another. There was nothing but misery and suffering for its inhabitants who struggled to survive everyday that was until the day he came.

Out of the darkness there came the 53rd demon lord and his name was Razical. And with his cunning, his power, and his ruthlessness he led a campaign of conquest against all the other 52 demon lords. One by one they fell before his might, their holdings, armies, and territory were soon absorbed by him. Soon the ones that remained threw down their arms and swore allegiance to the new monarch.

And with their surrender a new central power was established and the great demon empire was born. But his ambition did not stop there with his combined army and his great demon generals he declared war on the eastern continent and all three nations. His goal was simply the pure domination of the entire world. With this goal in mind Razical unleashed his wrath on the entire human race; none could stand the wave of slaughter and death that followed.

One by one many army and city's fell before his might until it looked like all had been lost. But there were some who resisted, soon a new golden hero arose to save the world from the hands of darkness. With his and his companions' power they began their counter attack against Razical's forces. 

They defeated Baran the yasha forces to the west, followed by Barbato's the elder lich to the east. Soon they took back the south from Asura the slaughterer and finally the north from Iris the witch of calamity. The hero soon gathered the knights and advanced on the dark continent laying siege to the demon empire.

The blood of many elf, ogre, and goblin spilled in their war with man. Slowly the forces of darkness withdrew until they receded all the way back to Balthazar, the capital of the empire. There the demon armies led by their king and his grand marshal Antora the kishin made their final stand.

The fields and forests surrounding the palace were in flames, with the knights and dark forces slaughtering each other. In the dark sky Antora battled with the hero's companions the witch and the warrior fought with him tooth and nail. Neither able to get an edge on the other, inside the palace the dark king fought with the hero and his Allie. They fought evenly with Razical dodging his sacred blade and landing his dark magic blasts. 

The other allies soon arrived and with their combined magical power managed to seal the king's body for a brief moment. and in that moment the hero managed to land a deep wound on the king. Suddenly Antora arrived and blasted the hero and allies away with his magic before tending to his king. 

Realizing that the battle was lost and that their kingdom would fall this day, the two decided to cut their losses and withdraw to reorganize their forces. Flying into the night sky in front of Alterina's two red moons the king used the last bits of his dark power two open a rift in the sky. A doorway to another world where he would be able to recover before returning to finish what he started with humanity. Hovering in the night sky looking down on the human forces the dark king said this.

"Humans you may have won today and for now I leave Alterina in your hands. But know this one day I shall return and on that day I swear I shall subjugate you and rule over you all!" And with that final curse the king flew into the portal followed by his loyal general and has yet to be seen again.
