The Lilith Central Hospital stood among one of the largest structures in the city.
Along the corridor, which was wide enough to accommodate at least three beds, Matthias walked soundlessly.
Even though it was nighttime, the noises that arose from everyday occurrences were not audible at all, especially on this particular day since all the patients had been transferred to the basement.
Even Matthias, an assassin by trade, had no intention of implicating unrelated people. Now the concentration on his work could be unrestrained.
No one had been encountered so far in this after breaking into the hospital, despite the fact that the hospital room where the Princess was sleeping was just around the next corner. No matter how thoroughly Matthias has suppressed all signs of his presence, the fact that not a single sentry has been spotted up to this point probably reflected that the forces were converging on the front of the main building. Instead of spreading out their forces, they were gathering all of their forces within the inner citadel in order to avoid inflicting needless harm, where the enemy would undoubtedly attempt to attack there. However, doing so would mean that they would temporarily abandon measures against assailants other than Matthias.
In other words, Hunter has either been overthrown or dealt with in some other way.
And when Matthias turned the corner, a young man with the moonlight behind him stood at the end of the corridor.
There was no surprise attack that he had anticipated. Perhaps he sensed that it would be futile against Matthias. Even when Matthias showed up, the young guy didn’t seem phased; he just pointed his magical tool—which even Matthias had never laid his eyes on—at Matthias.
Matthias was persuaded by that aspect alone that the young man standing in front of him was of a higher rank than the Shiva he had just met.
Matthias leaned forward somewhat, bending his knees. While Matthias can strike from any position, of course, he had his own stance. It was here, today, that for the first time, the feeling rose in Matthias that he was not going to “kill” the man in front of him, but to “fight” him.
On the other hand, Rain, who usually issued an ultimatum to his opponents to surrender, did not even do so this time. Right now, even the slightest deviation of concentration by saying a few words would be fatal. Unless his entire attention was focused on the man in front of him, he would surely be killed the next moment. Through his intuition, Rain had an inkling that the man in front of him was utterly outclassed over him.
Not even a preliminary statement was made. In the midst of the dead silence, both men simultaneously made their moves.
The one who launched the attack first was Rain. Matthias stomped the floor, followed by a series of magic bullets camouflaged with “Invisible” directed at him.
Matthias, nonetheless, dodged each and every one of them, as if they were visible to him. The bullets were not actually in sight of Matthias, yet the subtle bloodlust that Rain radiated, as well as the position and angle of the muzzle, signaled to Matthias where the invisible bullets were to land.
“Damn!”
“!”

Their distance was closed in a twinkling, and they moved from magic to fist, in essence, to Matthias’ area of expertise. However, right before he delivered his fist, a magic circle deployed at Matthias’ feet. Within moments, a flood of ice and debris was ejected from the magic circle, only for Mathias to have disappeared.
“Hah!”
“!?”
But Rain and the “others” were already aware of this.
Once the trap was averted by Matthias, the door to the left sickroom was kicked open sharply, and Sharon flew out at the wind-like velocity.
Sharon Rose, a member of Selbeth Academy’s 61st graduating class. While currently a member of the Garrison Corps, in her student days she also served as a Kaguya commander, and her spectacular war achievements were passed down as a kind of legend even among the later generation of Kaguya.
Accordingly, she successfully passed the qualifying round of the student knight competition with no magic in use and excelled in the finals. She was the sole fifth-class magician among all former Kaguya commanders throughout her service, and single-handedly defeated a rate S- wanted person at that time―
“―You seem to be an expert at close-range combat, but unfortunately for you, I specialize in that!”
“!?”
An attempted knee strike to the jaw by Sharon was guarded by Matthias with both hands. But then Matthias figured out that he had misjudged the situation.
Wrong. This is a two-stage kick…
“Shiiii!”
A sorcery-enhanced roundhouse kick landed directly on Matthias’ unguarded side of the head at the following instant, blowing Matthias’ body back.
