The ogre ran toward the group with a large black club in their hands. Magnus started freaking out trying to move, when a stone faced Thali grabbed him by the collar and kept him in place. "Stay put." She threatened, eyebrows twitching. Mortale, on the other hand, was already speeding off, leaving the group, mainly Magnus, surprised. Ivankov started speeding toward them, a large smile on his ogre-like face. "Thali, Elvia, Mortale and young boy! It's nice to see you!" Goddamn he was loud. Mortale who halted turned around. Magnus has never seen the stoic man so terrified, but who wouldn't be? It was a giant ogre who had a large ax strapped to him.
"Hello Ivankov. How've ya been?" Elvia asked, tapping his shoulder in a greeting-like way. "I've been well. Why are you here in Aroma?" Magnus was the next to speak up, his collar still under Thali's grip. "We're here for the grand tournament." The ogre's face lit up at the mention of the tournament. "Ah, so you'll be participating. Good to see some familiar faces around." Thali sweat dropped, a nervous laugh leaving her mouth. The memories of their defeat five years ago come to her at full force.
Mortale stood by Magnus, he looked apprehensive. Almost as if he really didn't want to be here. Ivankov looked at him before nervously looking away. Magnus watched the weird exchange between the two and wondered what kind of history these two had. The people surrounding them dispersed and the group started to walk towards the tournament stadium. Ivankov was busy talking and Elvia was chatting back. Thali had let go of his collar time ago and was now busy reading and filling the forms. Loud cheers and screams could be heard and the group plus Ivankov sped their pace up.
In no time, they had reached the large stone built stadium and Magnus stared at it in awe. They entered inside and a large reception filled with odd people was in front of them. Thali led the group all the way up to the reception desk and handed the pale lady their IDs and forms. "Thank you and good luck." The woman said, before handing back their forms and IDs with a red stamp on the end of them. Ivankov handed his ID and the lady looked at it confused. "You don't seem to be the one in the picture."
"Oh sorry... Lemme just.. Ah." A light started to form around him and his body started to change. 'Omg he can shapeshift!' Magnus excitedly thought. The light left his body and showcased a large, buff man with short green hair and gorgeous gold eyes. His torso was bare and he had stubbles on chin. He had a marvelous pair of eight packs. His ax remained on his back. He wore brown cargo pants and black tai chi slippers.
"I'm sorry sir. Here's your form." The receptionist stuttered out, a blush forming on her face. Ivankov took back his form and ID and smiled. "No problem." Magnus walked up to Ivankov and grabbed the man's large hand. With flowers now sprouting between them and his eyes closed and mouth formed into an adoring smile. "You're so fucking beautiful." Came out of his mouth, unprovoked.
"Thanks man."
Was this the start of a beautiful friendship?
