"Where am I?"  It thought.  The being who questioned it's dwelling began to gradually turn to a state of awareness and wake.  It could not feel anything around itself and, as if a dormant instinct suddenly awoke, its mind turned to heavy anxiety.  The unease in the being's heart came from its realization of numbness, as if something had been stolen from it.  Something that it felt should be there, suddenly, just wasn't.

After a few moments in this state, the being began to feel the area below itself.  Where there was a disturbing feeling of nothing, now turned into a comforting, familiar sense of standing on a surface.  The heavy gravity endeavored to knock it to the ground, yet, the being persists and, though it struggled to do so, it finally stood on it's legs once again.  Through this, the panic and unease subsided, returning to whence it came.

Now that it had recovered from it's state of panic, it thought "I can't see".  Unlike the first time, it was calm.  It accepted that it could not see.  The being tried to replicate what had happened before.  It tried to grasp something that it knew was gone.  Fear encroached upon its emotions again, making panic set in, but those troubling feelings were pushed aside, it decided to not let these things stop it from regaining what had been taken from it.

The being began to feel two holes being dug on its face, a pressing feeling, intensifying the longer it went on.  What it experienced in the next few moments almost made it regret that it could feel anything at all.  From what started as a numbing pain, turned into an excruciating experience unbearable for most.  If it could scream, it's voice would reach the sky and startle those who lived in heavens above, and the sound would both torment and delight those dark and unholy, they who were casted deep into hell for crimes unspeakable and horrid.

"Scream?"  With that single thought, another development was allowed to surface alongside the ongoing pain.

While the feeling of extreme pain still resounded inside the being, a new source of dread emerged from its face once again.  This time, it felt like flesh was tearing on its head and below it.  The tear of flesh became bigger and expanded under it's head, forming a tube-like protrusion, causing even more pain and anguish for the poor soul.

With the combined pain of both sensations, the being felt overwhelmed and wrathful.  It was mad that it could not do anything to even just slightly resist what it was going through.  The only action it could take, was to bear the pain and wait for it to end.

With a harsh voice, the being's shrieks of pain were the first sounds that it let out unto the world.  The echoed screams of pain provided a slight reprieve in that it signaled that the process was likely almost over, seeing that it could now produce sounds, as it thought to earlier.  It felt that the other process of building its sight was nearing its end as well, because the pain had dulled and  became another sensation.  One that pushed outside instead of in, filling the hole that was made by earlier.

The intense pain that was once there slowly dissipated in a matter of seconds.  The soul now had the ability to see, to talk, and to feel, but it still had complaints about what it had gone through to be able to do only three things.  Did it really have to go through so much to just put into place what had been missing?  Did it really have to endure such pain to get only what it needed?  Then it took the time to think of what had just happened.

The being took several moments to collect itself, it savored the feeling that it had achieved something incredible, like it overcame a great adversary.  Now, with its head cleared, it set to test the new abilities it suffered to attain.  It laid on the inky, black ground with a light splash,  and looked toward where the sky was supposed to be.  The soul expected to see a bright blue sky littered filled with clouds, provided with light by the yellow sun.

Contrary to what it thought would be there, what greeted the soul was a large, dark expanse of an abyss, its only color being a gradient black.  The sky that had been the creature's greeter wore the color of Light gray above, but the lower one travelled, the surroundings would slowly turn darker and darker, until they got to where our dear soul was now.

While disappointed, the soul expected this to an extent.  When it looked at the floor it stood on, it saw only black, so it made sense to it that, like the ground beneath it, the sky would be some form of black as well.

Still looking toward the sky, it pondered on what it should do next.  What was there to do in a world filled with nothing but the dark ground and light gray above?  Perhaps it could explore this new world it was in through thought and actually walking around to familiarize itself with the surroundings.

Now the being knew what to do for the time being, so now, with a set goal, it tried to stand up and set out on its journey to no avail.  It tried to get up several times.  It moved its head and legs, it attempted to do so to move from its position.  It realized it needed something to get up, perhaps arms and hands to support itself when it had to do so?  The arms would need to be connected to a body as well.  While in thought, the soul had a sudden premonition of what was to come and motioned its mouth to utter its first few words "Oh no."
