JOHN LAURENS

John continued stomping around the strange hallway/closet of the inn. That man, George P. Hamilton (Not a real person) hadn’t come up to check in 3 days!!! What did he have to do!!??!! He continued stomping around and pacing until he was over the man’s room again. He was working on writing a paper, it made John smile, he was so much like Alex it made his heart hurt, but, the man couldn’t see him. All he could do was make noise. He stomped even harder right above George’s head. He looked up, finally. John sat down, now he got to wait a few hours….

Someone was walking quietly up the stairs to where John was, it didn’t bother him, it was probably just George coming to look in the closet again. They couldn’t see him anyway, he was dead. Then the door opened, “John?” a voice asked.

John stood quickly, there was a short man standing there, with violet eyes and fiery red hair “Alexander!” he ran over to hug his old (more than a) friend.

There was a man that stayed at the Inn (I think his name was Goerge Dore) Every day he would hear someone pacing around in the room above him, but when he went to check, he found nothing each time, Eventually, he got used to the noise, until it started to get louder and more frequent as soon as he stopped ignoring it, the noise would stop.

Alex snickered at the huge extravagant hats and jackets John had found and put on. “Here,” John grinned at him as he took the clothing and put it on. Then, he shook his head.

“Almost makes me want that uncomfortable soldier’s uniform again- it was better than this,” Alex said, the edges of his mouth twitching with amusement.

John shook his head at him, trying not to smile. He lit a ghost candle and led Alexnder over to the huge window seat overlooking the ocean. The two men sat down, watching the waves crash up on the rocks and all the tourists walk past. John felt Alex reach over and grab his hand carefully, “The ocean…” he whispered, “Last time I-”

John silenced him by gently placing his hand on his mouth, “Don’t think about that, Lex, think about right here right now. It can’t hurt you.” They sat quietly for a few minutes, staring at the ocean, it felt like people were occasionally glancing at the window, shaking their heads, and walking a lot faster. Alex suddenly shifted over to John and placed his head on his shoulder calmly.  John smiled and leaned on him, running his thumb over Alex’s fingers as he held his hands.

People who walk by the Bar Harbor Inn at dusk sometimes see two men, dressed in fancy 1800s clothing. Sitting together in front of the window with a candle, staring at the ocean. No one knows their names or how they got there, as soon as anyone who sees them looks back at the window. The men are gone.

They watched the maid turn off all the lights in the room, then she went into the kitchen. John smirked, he liked causing trouble. He and Alex started lighting every candle on the tables. When the maid came back through the door the two of them started doing a slow dance around the room, watching her horrified expression. She put out the candles and ran from the room.

There was a maid that worked night shifts at the Inn, one night after finishing up her job, she went to get a snack from the kitchen. When she came back, all the candles were lit and there was a cold chill in the air around her. She put out the candles and ran from the room.
