Asguard, House of Hroarr.

"Have you seen the boy, Love!?" yelled the head of the house, trying and failing to find his son.

"Have you tried the attic?" responded the voice of the mother.

"Yes! he isn't there!" responded Hroarr with a yell.

"What about the backyard?!" asked Liv, still yelling.

Meanwhile, Rune, the youngster of the house, was chilling in the living room, enjoying his parent's confusion as he worked on his small puppet.

Ever since he was reincarnated, Rune had an uncanny ability to 'blend in' with his surroundings; most people either forgot he was there or ignored him, and he loved messing with people by simply being himself.

"Have you checked his room!?" came his mother's worried voice as she entered the living room, paused when she saw him, and decided to continue to mess with her husband now with a mischievous smile on her face.

"That was the first thing I checked!" yelled the man.

"What of the stable !?" yelled Liv.

"Why in the nine realms would the boy be in the stable !?"

"Maybe he went to pet Jarl! You know the boy loves animals!" she replied, smiling, which was mirrored by Rune.

There was no response, but they knew he went to check it out.

"You know he will be livid when he returns, right?" asked the mother.

"He will never catch me! Especially on an empty stomach," replied Rune with his nose held high.

"Right, Now, don't trouble the guards too much," chided Liv.

"They need a break which we provide. Otherwise, they will be petrified like the statues of all fathers due to the sheer boredom they experience," defended Rune.

"So you think of yourself as their savior?" asked Liv, amused.

"That's obvious," said Rune as he got up.

"Speaking of which, It's time I began my humble duty of saving the guards from their boredom," said Rune as he walked to the door of the house.

"BOY, GET OVER HERE!" thundered Hroarr as he entered the living room and spotted Rune leaving the house.

"YOU WILL NEVER CATCH ME, OLD MAN!" replied Rune as he ran from the house with Hroarr hot on his tail.

As Rune ran, he recalled the last 20 years of his life, yeah, 20 YEARS; he would be a middle-aged man according to human standards but here? On Asgard? he is barely considered an adult, which lets Rune pull stunts like this despite being a 'grown-up.'

Rune was born to Hroarr Sixtenson and Liv Andordóttir. Hroarr is an Einherjar who is barely home most of the time; Liv is someone who works on logistics for the army; both of them, for the lack of a better term extremely forgettable, one of many faces in the crowd, but that doesn't matter to Rune. I love them all the same.

Rune spent most of his new life preparing for war; He is mostly average at pretty much everything. He would have been another face in the crowd just like his parents and would have been content with that if it wasn't for one pesky little thing.

I have chakra like the one from Naruto.

Rune discovered this when he turned 12 during his hunt, but that's a story for another time. Chakra allowed him to rise from his mob status, he used chakra to enhance/train himself to the point his father felt he was ready for the army. If he passes the recruitment test for the army, he will be the youngest Einherjar ever to join the army, matched only by the princess.

Rune suddenly felt a hand clamp on his shoulder, breaking him out of his trance.

"*huff* got you *huff* BOY!" huffed Hroarr with a smug expression. Rune didn't answer but looked around and discovered that he was just outside Asgard(the city, not the planet? realm? floating island?).

"What do you want, father? You don't chase me down to this extent unless it's something serious."

Hroarr let go of his son and took a deep breath.

"It's time for you to join the Einherjar."

Rune raised an eyebrow.

"You said I was too young," probed Rune.

"Yes, but I only said that because you were weak," justified Hroarr.

"That was last month; what is going on, father?" deadpanned Rune.

"I may or may not have heard that the Princess may or may not be commanding the newest battalion, and I want you to have the honor of being in it," explained Hroarr.

"So you just want bragging rights,"  deadpanned Rune.

"Oh, please, I would not have even considered it if you weren't strong enough," scoffed Hroarr.

"Does mother know?" asked Rune, causing Hroarr to look away.

"For that, your walking home alone," said Rune as he switched places with his unfinished puppet.

Hroarr, seeing that he is alone, collapsed due to exhaustion with a proud smile on his face. Rune might not know his own strength, but as his father and an old Einherjar, he knew precisely the kind of monster his son was and couldn't be more proud.

A few minutes later.

Hroarr entered his home to see the funny sight of his wife trying to stuff an entire chicken leg down their son's throat and him avoiding it like his life depended on it.

"Love, hold him!" yelled his wife.

"You are going to kill me! MUM!" yelled Rune as he jumped out of range, causing the matriarch to huff.

"Who knows when you will be able to eat a home-cooked meal again! I need to stuff you full of it so you can last long enough to come back," protested Liv.

"That doesn't mean you have to kill me by overfeeding me! I won't be able to perform well if I am so full that I can't even move!" yelled Rune as he dodged yet another attempt from his mother.

"He is right, you know," said Hroarr as he hugged his wife, stopping her.

"Fine!" relented Liv as she threw the chicken leg towards Rune, who caught it and started eating it, after which the three of them had breakfast.

"So, dad, when and where is the test?" asked Rune as he ate another chicken leg.

"In about half an hour, in the Palace training."

Rune lowered his chicken leg, gave the most deadpan of deadpans toward his father, and bolted out of the house after yelling.

"Love you, mom; see you on a battlefield, dad!"

The couple both chuckled at his antics.

{With Rune}

Rune bolted towards the Palace training grounds. Dodging and weaving through Asgard's busy streets and buildings so that while it turned heads, it didn't disturb anything.

"Made it!" yelled Rune as he skidded to a stop in front of the entrance to the palace with minutes to spare.

He asked for directions and made it to the testing area only to find no one there; that would be a lie; there were Einherjar having mock battles and few other participants, but it was mostly empty.

Rune asked around and found out that the test wasn't until an hour still, and he was free to practice until then if he wished.

Since Rune found no familiar faces considering there was no one his age there and the others had teamed up or were in groups of their own. Rune sighed, went to the weapons rack, picked two short swords, went to a corner where he wouldn't disturb the others, and stretched his joints after planting the short swords on the ground.

Rune picked up his swords and closed his eyes, focusing on his breathing before imagining himself on the battlefield and enemies of all sizes attacking from all sides.

He claimed the area of his reach and started dodging, slashing, and kicking anything that reached his domain.

On the outside, for the newbies, he looked like a clown as he moved around without rime or reason, but the Einherjar could see exactly what he was doing, and a few of them were amused while most of them thought he was a showoff.

One of the newbies decided to mess with him and threw a stone at his face, but it was swatted away with the flat side of Rune's blade. Not believing her eyes, the newbie decided to throw another stone at him, which met the same faith as its predecessor. Looking at it, the others joined her, and they started throwing stones at him, all of which were either deflected or dodged. They stopped when they ran out of stones in their immediate vicinity.

Rune realizing what had happened, opened his eyes and shot a condescending smirk in their direction, challenging them.

Three of them, the girl and two boys, rushed at him with small shields, a spear, a long sword, and a mace.

Rune intending to meet the challenge head-on, rushed toward them, but they were stopped by a gruff voice that yelled.

"ENOUGH!"

The 4 of them stopped and turned toward the voice. It came from an Einherjar who looked like the ranking officer.

"I appreciate your enthusiasm but save the fighting for later in the test; for now, rest and get prepared for the test," he said, the last part looking at me and leaving when all of us nodded at him.

After the Einherjar left, the four of us walked toward each other.

"Hi, I am Rune Hroarrson, Thanks for assisting me in my training," Rune said, greeting the others, which confused them much to the amusement of Rune, who hid his amusement behind a friendly smile.

They shrugged after a minute.

"I am Varin Hroksson; how do you move like that?" asked the lean man with a french mustache.

"Training, lots and lots of training," Rune replied to the man.

"I am Geir Hrodisson; what were you doing before we started throwing stones at you?" asked the man with a dwarven beard and gym body.

"Imagin training, you fight against imaginary opponents," said Rune before turning to the lady amongst them, which prompted the other two to look at her as well.

"I am Dalla Atlidottir; how could you sense the stones we threw at you? You had your eyes closed the whole time," demanded the tomboy.

"That, my sweet child, is a secret!" Rune replied playfully, causing her to scoff and the boys to chuckle.

"Oh, Please, how old are you anyway?" asked Dalla.

Rune blinked before answering.

"20," said Rune nonchalantly.

"20!?" was the collective response of the trio and a few of the eavesdroppers.

"Why, how old are you guys?" asked Rune.

"90," said Varin, looking incredulous at the young man.

"114," said Geir with a huff.

"60," said Dalla before muttering something under her breath.

Rune blinked as he understood what she said and gaped.

"You are 1..." Rune was interrupted by Dalla's hand that covered his mouth as she leaned in and

"Finish that line; that will be the last thing you will ever speak. AM.I.CLEAR?" whispered Dalla causing Rune to nod frantically.

The other two just chuckled. A few other participants were closing in to socialize with them when everyone's attention was drawn by the Einherjar, that stopped their spar.

"Everyone line UP! It's time to test your worth!"
