Saying that the dirty look I throw at Mr. Harrington could have frozen an ocean may have been an understatement.
Or maybe some of my powers started leaking out at that moment, as the room got colder, and not only metaphorically speaking.
Noticing the atmosphere, our teacher decide to pretend that what we said was the truth, "Yes you are right, it seems like he has sprained his ankle. Well, the tour is ending and I need to be here, why don't you bring him to the minibus? It isn't a problem for you, right?" I could see a small smirk on his face when he says the last part, probably still believing in what his imagination has birthed after studying Peter's state.
Deciding that there is no gain in replying to his implications, I help Peter to get up, while I start guiding us toward an elevator, determined to reach the minibus and stop this situation at the fastest.
But before leaving the room I decided to throw a little jab to our dear teacher, murmuring at a level high enough for him to hear "At least this time no teacher lost a student."
After my remark, I can faintly hear the noise of a crack appearing on Mr. Harrington's heart.
------------
It takes us several minutes to leave the building and reach the bus, where Peter can finally stop holding my shoulder and sit again.
"Hey Sig, why do you think Mr. Harrington and a couple of the staff members that we met were blushing when they heard the made-up story that you made?" The soon-to-be Spiderman asks, only to found my twitching face in front of his, "Pete, how dense are you?" I ask, bewildered by his innocence.
"As dense as every human being?" He answers, not catching the meaning of my question.
"Sometimes I really ask myself if you really are smart?" I groan, fully realizing how dumb someone smart can be.
"What?! Why?" He replied, flustered by my words.
Sighing I start explaining the situation, "Pete, your skin is reddened, you are sweaty and you have a red mark on your neck, a mark that I assume is due to a bug's bite."
"I still can't see why they were blushing," says Peter not catching the meaning of my words, forcing me to continue and simplify even more our circumstances.
"We returned after several minutes, with messy and sweaty clothes, and one of us as a mark on the neck that can be seen as a hickey... Now, what do you think they will think?"
"Oh..." He finally realized what several people believe has happened.
"Yep" I reply in a deadpan tone.

Thinking of the incoming problems he may have caused, Peter starts apologizing "Sorry, now people will believe that us..."
"Don't worry, I don't really care about what they think, I only have to prevent my parents to learn about it," I stop him, shuddering as I say my last words.
"They will be angry with you? They don't seem the type." He asks, now even more guilty than before. Sighing I answer his question, "Angry? Nah, they will be happy, dangerously so, and I don't want to have them to tease me for a love story that doesn't exist."
I shudder while imagining all the teasing that they will throw at me if they will ever hear of this story. Peter starts laughing at my depressed face, before calming down and replying "Well, knowing your parents that doesn't really surprise me..."
"You speak as your aunt would react differently," I reply, knowing that probably the level of teasing he would suffer would not be so different than what I will receive.
"You are right, she will tease me forever, fortunately, she is out for work till tomorrow evening, I have time to think of a solution, "says Peter, dizziness clear on his face.
Watching this I put a hand on his head, feeling the heat of the fever.
"You have a little fever, try to sleep a bit, I will wake you when the others came back," I say to him, before moving him to the last seat, where he can lay down more comfortably.
While I watch him falling into a slumber once again, I lose myself in my thoughts, not noticing that one of my fellow students has returned to the minibus, at least until I hear her voice.
"How is he?"
"MJ, I didn't hear you, he sprained his ankle, and after taking a couple of painkillers he fell asleep," I repeat the lie from before, adding something that could justify his sleep.
"You are a good liar, but not good enough," she replies after hearing my excuse.
"What do you mean?" I feign ignorance, having learned long ago to never admit anything,
"He doesn't look like someone with a sprained ankle. He looks between someone with a high fever and someone that has passed half an hour rolling with their lover in a bathroom," she smirks while explaining her hypothesis of what has happened during our absence.
"There is nothing like that between me and Peter, he likes Liz, the captain of the decathlon team, and you should know, you had lunch at our table for months," I reply while rolling my eyes, cursing in my mind against the world.
"True, even if when you speak like this you seem like an envious kitten, watching his puppy moving toward someone else." She flaunts her observation skills, rubbing in my face something that I haven't accepted of my new body and memories.
"Are you sure you are not projecting your feelings now?" I rebuke her, knowing that I'm not the only one interested in the sleeping beauty that was in front of us.
Knowing that this fight will not bring her anything good she decides in a tactical retreat, "While your lies are bad, your comebacks are not... Well, you should wake him up, the rest are coming" MJ says, putting on a pair of earphones and taking for herself a couple of seats.
fuck, she is good at this...
