"*Cough*, everyone working in the evil organization of Babel," I said to the goons present, "do your job right and you'll get life passes for Damavand's Succubus Red-Light District." - Garami
"WO-HOOOOO!!"
"And if you goof things up, it's straight to the Roper Cave." - Garami
"NOOOOOOOO!!"
The black-clothed evil combatants had the expression of being thrown from heaven to hell and started to work even harder than before.
"Hey...that's just ruthless...why am I the <Evil>-one and not you?" - Filyn
Rude bitch...I'm not thinking of anything! My head's got lots of free space here!!
...phew, that was scary. Sometimes I suspect Filyn having some mind-reading ability. Probably not. I would have been dead ten times just today if she really had one.
It's the day after we "discovered" the Calamity of the Demonic Seas, Azi Dahaka. A three-headed dragon that's unparalleled not only in magic, but he's even capable of cracking the World System to some degree. Without the help of skills like [Gamemaster]. That one's only for Champions...please don't tell me he's a Champion...
Anyway, Filyn decided to break her cover and mobilize her real organization for full. Thanks to Dejidem, the god put to protect this Sea-region, we managed to bypass the Sea's anti-magic field effect and even established contact with Damavand, and by extension, with Blot too.
We asked Dejidem to improve the exits to the Sea so everyone except Curse Creatures could enter and leave without having to bother finding the matching tunnel or hole or whatever. After that, Filyn had Blot send as many troops he could spare to the Demonic Sea, and well...I feel honestly bad for the Curse Creatures now. Even their racial advantages can't beat the brutality of numbers.
"...Filyn, what are these guys?" asked Zaria who had yet to leave with the broken items we had salvaged from the temple. We got word that Flint's become a temporary disciple of a local smith, so he's on repair duties for now.
"Combatants. What did you think they were?" - Filyn
"I sort of understood that part but...just what are they!? Some of them look really weird." - Zaria
She has a point. All the combatants are dressed in black uniforms and are of various species, but some just aren't looking right. And the same goes for their status pages. One guy looked like a lion-Beastkin, but his status page revealed he was from a human-type race.
"They're mutants. Get on with the times." - Filyn
Oh yes, muta... MUTANTS!?
"Did you say mutants!?" - Garami
"Of course I did! I'm disappointed that you, a Migrant, never thought that our evil organization wouldn't have any!" - Filyn
Why would I think a fantasy world would have mutants!?
"Uhm...I still don't get it." - Zaria
"Oops, sorry about that. Ehm, to make a long story short, we take some of our loyal grunts to the surgery room, transplant some DNA from monsters into them, and voila! A super-power-up in a matter of hours! Do you want to try?" - Filyn
"N-no thanks... Surgery sounds a little-" - Zaria
"Don't think too much about that part~. We can give a simple body-enhancement surgery if that's all you want~." - Filyn
"I respectfully decline!!" - Zaria
I agree with the bat! Surgery is too scary! Rather, we had someone capable of doing that in the organization? They must be better than that rumored Life General!
"Tch. Back to accept high-ranking adventurers into the org. then." - Filyn
"...huh!? There are adventurers among those guys!?" shouted Zaria and pointed at the combatants. Around 95% of them waved back at her...ouch.
"Why wouldn't we? One of the Great Commanders of Babel is the grand owner of the Adventurers' Union. The Invidia-branch only, but hey, it's a start~." - Filyn
"......I'm going to stop asking questions...my brain hurts." - Zaria
Considering your opponent, be glad it's just that.
"Walking will fix that problem, and you should be going already. And I should be doing the same! Oh, and Garami, that bone-head wanted to talk to you, so go and meet up with him." - Filyn
Hope it's not more bad news.
---
"...what was that?" - Garami
"Filyn said you had to defeat some agents too. Didn't she tell you?" - Dejidem
Damn that vixen...
Swallowing my complaints and watching the Skeleton god exit my room, I started to research how to improve my stats. My current status is...
Skill List:
Title List:
Hunting Titles:
Status Titles:
...what kinda monster is this?
Anywho, ignoring the magic-related skills, all my growth has come from hunting Curse Creatures...wow, that's not a lot. Even the necromancy-related skills didn't go up much, but that's sorta understandable when all I used them for was to mine those ores and fight that protagonist (lol)...
Did the Curse Creatures get to all my skills? No, probably just me who's not had a rocket on my back regarding training my skills. Heck, despite everything I've been through, I've yet to obtain [Monster Genocider]! This is gonna ruin my reputation. On the other hand, you gotta fight a real monstrosity before crossing that line, so maybe I should consider myself lucky?
Confirming that the door's locked, I took out the portable Class Crystal, an item that looks like a crystal ball a fortune teller would have used, and called on my little assistant.
"GM, come out." - Garami
"I was called on, so I appeared!" shouted the floating black box as it popped out.
"Give me a hand with the Skill Point distribution here. And focus on Slasher's next stage." - Garami
"Oooh! You can evolve it now?" - GM
"Yep, that's right. I'm gonna show what classes I can take, so help me find something that fits." - Garami
"What is it going to fit?" - GM
"Assassin. Being a Necromancer or Alchemist is cool and all, but I want a class that can directly improve my main occupation." - Garami
"...what is that?" - GM
You are reading story A Reincarnated Demon’s Life of Wonder at novel35.com
"It's supposed to be assassination..." - Garami
"Right, got it," she said and started to operate the crystal ball to make it show the evolution options for the Slasher-class on its surface.
"Our first option is the Street Slasher class. A direct upgrade of the Slasher class." - GM
"...kinda stale." - Garami
"Yeah, you're right. Moving on, we have the Arcane Rogue class who uses magic alongside tricks-" - GM
"Can already do that." - Garami
"Y-yes...then, what about Shadow Da-" - GM
"Stealth-type moves aren't useful against Curse Creatures that track enemies based on the existence of emotions." - Garami
GM started to sweat after failing her job so many times and-
"Then what about this!?" she said and showed a new class...
"'Ruinbringer'?" - Garami
This is a class that...hey, this must be a new addition. The class's requirements include having those status ailment-related titles I got from the Hydra-bomb incident. I remember they were added with the latest System Update around the time we went to the Forge, so the class itself must be a recent addition too.
The class seems to focus on inflicting status ailments, taking advantage of them, and it seems to go a little into the magic attack category. But instead of using magic itself, it feels more like a physical class that uses MAG instead of STR...
That could be useful for me. It would tie together my growth as a Necromancer and Alchemist to Assassin's killer movements.
"Good job, GM." - Garami
"You like it? Ehehe~..." - GM
I'll take this class, upgrade the [Poison Element] skill, see if there are any other skills I need, and so on.
"And what about your original tasks?" - Garami
"Guh!? ...no progress..." - GM
"Then let's go over what you've discovered up until now." - Garami
"Yes...for the second task, I have yet to discover anything about this "dried-up husk of a beggar" you mentioned." - GM
One of the assignments I gave GM was to discover the identity of that strange guy I met when the Life Champion and his friends attacked me. No way he's a random old dude.
"No dice?" - Garami
"Only snake-eyes~. Nothing in the World System comes up when I search with those words." - GM
Tch. I sorta expected it, but this guy's difficult to catch.
"However, I have managed to discover all the Champion-related skills!" - GM
Nice job! I was wondering about those guys, so I asked GM to find out more about them while looking for that mystery-beggar...hm?
"Didn't you say that there were some problems with that?" - Garami
"Yes. I found out all of the information regarding the skills, which includes the fact that the Champion-related skills can evolve. Yet, despite how much I searched for it, I could not find any information on the evolved skills, nor the method to actually evolve them. Only the hint that there is something that surpasses the current skills." - GM
"I do wanna know about those, but what we don't know, we don't know. What are the skills I'm missing?" - Garami
I started to write down the current skills I have:
...that's six. I'm already halfway there. Wow...
GM then wrote down her own additions to the list:
They're all strong, but some of them make a question-mark appear above my head. [Form of Avarice] sounds strangely similar to [Golden Ratio], and the same does [Corrosion Touch] and [Death Touch], a skill that inflicts Death attribute damage upon contact.
GM then told me that the Champion skills are unrelated to any of the other skills. Both examples I mentioned would simply overlap with their normal variants, and the Champion skills have more benefits than the original skills.
It was part of this that made the "evolution of the Champion skills" problem so...problematic. The Champion skills are on a completely separate skill tree from all other skills. And as demonstrated by [Aura of Darkness], just reaching the skill's highest level's not enough. Another requirement is needed here, but what exactly is unknown.
While chewing on those thoughts in my head, I decided to move on to my final assignment before I head out to help with defeating these agent-guys. Namely to see if Damavand needed some owner-related upgrades. Onyx and the other "Dungeon-leaders" should have enough CP to alter the place as needed, even if they can't make more monsters...
...okay, it seems that Dahaka-kun couldn't take Dungeon-related EXP. That's the only reason I can think of for these numbers. Either that or Onyx lied to me when I asked him if anything special had happened to the Dungeons, which I don't really believe he would do.
As for the bonus that came due to Damavand reaching D-Lv.15...hey, both the Ocean attribute and Wood attribute are included now. Adding a new attribute wouldn't be such a bad idea. Wood could maybe lessen the food production costs while Ocean could help us with naval battles. Then there's the Sand attribute which could help us protect the hub-area of Damavand...
Again with the choices. It's not easy to be a leader.

Kigal-Note/Scout Classes: Ruinbringer
Description:
Ruinbringers are offensive Scouts who use mystical energies obtained from training their magical abilities to the point of being closer to magic than man.
Class-wise, Ruinbringer is a Scout-line class that grants various status ailments through an offensive beatdown of skills that are magical and mystical in nature. It is a class with heavy MP consumption, but the many status ailments they can inflict on their targets justify the high upkeep.
Ruinbringers also have access to the Ruin skills, a series of skills that torments their victims with any status ailment that the skill owner may also possess. This class is among one of the first classes that actively makes use of this series of skills.
[Harbinger (Ruin)] allows the Ruinbringer to create special weaponry that inflicts various status ailments. These weapons can be anything from swords to daggers, and it's even possible to create animal-shaped Harbingers. However, the amount, shape, and qualities of the Harbinger depend on the user's personal ability instead of the skill's level.
[Arcane Attack] is a skill that lets the Ruinbringer improve their physical attacks through their MAG stat, allowing this class to be a "magic attacker" in the truest sense of the word. Along with [Critical Dance], which improves the rate of getting a critical hit on the target each time they dodge an attack in a row, a Ruinbringer can steadily increase the pace of damage inflicted to their victim.
[Mystic Cloak (Ruin)] creates a cloak made of mana, with its defensive powers being based on the user's MAG stat, and those that touch the cloak may be inflicted with a random status ailment.
[Ailment Reinforcement] is a Passive Skill that improves the odds of inflicting and stacking more and more status ailments on people. Combined with [Ailment Reap], an Attack Skill that deals more damage the more status ailments the target has, it can cause a sudden end to a painful battle.
[Blessings of Ruin] is sort of contradicting to its name. Anyone who is inflicted with a status ailment except the skill user and their allies will have a small, temporary reduction to their RES stat. This reduction kicks in even if the target resists being affected by the ailment, so a Ruinbringer can bring down even the healthiest of dragons as long as they keep on pestering them. On the other end, the skill owner and their allies will have an increase in their RES stat if they are affected by status ailments, which will improve their ability to shake off the ailment's effects.
GM's comment: Wonder why they never added this class until recently?
