"[Ocean SANCTUARYYYYYY]!!" - Octopus pirate
The octo-jerk started the battle by shouting out the name of a skill that created a bluish light that covered...most of the city? There's no damage...uh-oh.
"[Greater Ocean Tentacle]!" Octopus pirate
Yup, I knew it! It's a skill evolved from the same [Ocean Territory] that Ciara has! Now he can use moves that would normally only be possible on the sea!
I dodged the gigantic tentacle made of seawater that tried to swat me and the building I was standing on, only to be greeted by seven more of them! You damn octopus!
I used [Aerial Movement], [Sky Jump], and [Storm Compression] to slip past the salty tendrils and escape unharmed. Then I threw a [Lightforce Javelin] boosted by Compression again toward the octopus pirate.
"[Storm Wall]!" - Octopus pirate
Geh!? The pirate summoned a wall of wind to block the javelin! So much for using Compression. And this guy is using both Ocean AND the Wind attributes? How much of a pirate do you think you are?
"As much as possible" must be the answer here.
Pirate is a roguish Advance-tier of the Sailor-class, while Sea-Current Gunman is an Ocean-focused Gunslinger-based Advance-tier. Stormbringer is of the same tier as my own Ruinbringer, and it seems its abilities are of a similar nature as well, except that the status ailments are replaced with powerful Wind skills.
Ocean Mage is only Intermediate-tier and not one of the rarer classes, so it won't be too much of a threat. Heck, his MAG's too low for that class to be of any big danger. And despite being his Main Class, I doubt Pirate will be of any trouble. It has skills related to naval warfare and we're on dry land now.
Meaning my problems are the Sea-Current Gunman and Stormbringer. Better believe that the saber he's holding is just a decoration and he's hiding guns underneath that heavy coat of his.
And Stormbringer may turn out to be worse than the rest combined. If Ruinbringer's [Harbinger (Ruin)] skill can-
"Harbinger!" - Garami
I prepared dusky-grim swords when I saw the octopus bringing out tentacles made of black winds. The swords collided with the new tentacles. However, despite the swords being [Harbinger (Ruin)]-swords with [Aura of Darkness] used as their base, which boosts an attack power equal or higher than the [Lightforce Javelin] + [Storm Compression] combo, the tentacles won the clash. The swords did buy me enough time to dodge the tentacles.
"You can use that too?!" - Octopersus
I knew it! He can add the effect of that death-wind Extra Skill he used on the ship back on Matata Island to his Harbinger skill! Damn, that's cheating! Not that I can say it out loud since AoD[Aura of Darkness]. is basically the same when you compare its effects and tier!
Getting impatient, the octopus used one of the seawater tentacles to launch him up to the roof of the buildings. I threw some AoD-Harbinger swords at him, but the damn pegleg swabbed them with his tentacles! Hey! We're not in an R-18 doujinshi, you know!
...this should be far enough. Sharp U-turn!
I ran past the tentacles and got close to the real octopus while sending Harbingers flying at him. The octopus was surprised by my sudden change in tactics but produced another wall of wind to block the Harbingers.
I used [Storm Compression] to take care of the wall, but was met with the business end of SEVEN revolvers. Seven? Ah...damn those extra six tentacle arms.
Retreating backward with [Trick Step], I managed to escape turning into swiss cheese, but several bullets managed to graze me. Despite not hitting directly, the impact was so strong that I was sent flying off the building! And the crashlanding hurt...
I tried to stand up and hide from his line of fire, but my legs! They can't move! The bastard had poison in his bullets...
No, these are water bullets? Seawater? It must be something related to his class. but anyway, he has "something" that bypassed my resistances and paralyzed only my legs? No, the wounds on them are horrible, so it must be a combo of "resistance-penetrating paralyze" and "the wounds themselves". Damn, what bad luck...
"Mwa-hahahaha! Say your prayers, you slippery sea snake!" roared the octopus from the top of the building, his seven revolvers aimed at me. Our positions are completely reversed, dammit.
"What? No last wish or something? Like explaining why you're here?" I shouted back at him, hoping to win some time.
"Hah! Then clear your ears and listen to the final act of mercy you'll ever experience!" - Octopersus
Classic villain-mistake #1: fulfilling one last wish to the enemy. I knew he was a washout.
"My Lord and Master have big plans for the lizard living in this sea, so he, thanks to our great deity's assistance, started to plant the seed for gathering aether they require to put that lizard under their thumb!" - Octopersus
Under their thumb...then Azi Dahaka's not the guy responsible for the Yamatai Festival!? I mean, what else would those "seeds" be if not for those fake Extra Skills? EXP and whatever is also considered a type of aether.
"And what? You needed to leech more power so your boss sent you out with that freaky ship-Dungeon?" - Garami
".....................no." - Octopersus
I nailed it! I so nailed it! That backbone-less idiot should just admit that I nailed it! No, that long pause is outright saying I was right!!
"Th-that doesn't make a difference that you're going to die here-...what's this? Floss?" - Octopersus
And he noticed the thin threads I'd released after deciding that I couldn't dodge those bullets. A little too late. Secret move: [Dark Malevolence] + Darkness Pillar!
The pillar of pure darkness swallowed the octopus before he could react. As calculated, the pillar didn't reach me.
Wow! Octopus, you were stronger than I expected! In an EXP-related way. Must come from his Extra Skill. Or maybe because I fought him while holding back? That said, I never gave 100% here as I wanted a lab rat to help me perfect the Darkness Pillar-combo. Maybe I underestimated the guy a little...
Anyway, magic must be the last thing the octopus expected down here in the Demonic Seas. And all the Bleed-stacks from [Spider's Bleeding Thread] made sure that he won't survive. A super-deadly combo that combines stealth, threads, magic, and darkness! Mwa-hahaha!
Though, it only worked because the octopus was an idiot. I would have just shot the guy if I were in his position. Talk about being lucky. I'm on a roll these days! Better believe I'll end up tripping somewhere on the road if I'm not careful.

"Garamiiii! I am glad you are saaaafe!" - Dejidem
The divine cavalry finally arrived after I had shaken Revi and the combatants awake. They're only a little groggy, a feat possible since I moved my battle with the octopus so far away from the "festival grounds" where they were knocked out.
"...you can make talking undead now?" Revi asked me, while still looking like she was having a hangover.
"No. That guy's a god, despite the appearance." - Garami
"A god...?" - Revi
Hey, why the dramatic pause? You're gonna hurt the poor guy's feelings.
"Gara...why are there so many people here?!" shouted Dejidem when he noticed there were some new additions including the combatants.
"Before that, I gotta ask you something, Dejidem." - Garami
"Sure. Fire away." - Dejidem
I had Dejidem follow me to the place where I saw the octopus the first time.
"That mark on the-" - Garami
"AAAAAHHHH!! Who damaged my coat of arms!!?" - Dejidem
...and there goes GM's long hour of detective work. But man, to think this calm guy would be so angry that flames appear in his eye...holes?
"It was a subordinate of the true boss of this whole conspiracy. I've already killed him." - Garami

"Good job! I would have paid you if I had anything more to offer..." - Dejidem
"Then there is something else you can answer me?" - Garami
I got closer to the Skeleton god and whispered into where his ear would be if he had them.
"Are you the man behind the Yamatai Grand Festival?" - Garami
The skeleton god was shocked over my question but whispered back:
"How did you know?" - Dejidem
"That mark was plastered on the temple on the surface that was used for one of the Festival's events. Besides, GM searched through the World System for other uses of that symbol, which included an entry written by mankind that says it belongs to the big Festival-boss. Your connection to it isn't something mankind is aware of though." - Garami
"...tch. The gig couldn't last for 1,400 years, huh." - Dejidem
I knew-!
"However, that's partly wrong. I am only acting as a sponsor for the real "Festival-boss", as you called it." - Dejidem
Okaaaay, so I didn't know it.
"My "part" in this is to act as a guide to the people who manage to find the clues to the truth behind the Yamatai Grand Festival. Normally, I shouldn't be revealing this part, but the time limit is getting too close! At this rate, I can kiss my promotion from being the guardian of this hell-hole goodbye!" - Dejiden
"So you got along with a plan that's gonna cripple tons of powerful people in this country, if not kill them?" - Garami
"It's because I'm working with them that they are going to limit the aether drain to only reduce their levels and stats a little bit! Enough to act as a punishment for the shameless people who wanted a shortcut to obtaining great powers!" - Dejiden
"Technically, I'm one of those guys...wait, there were clues?" - Garami
"There used to be. But the country of Arahana in the east got to them first..." - Dejidem
"Arahana...? The country with the princess that summoned the Life Champion, created the Disaster of Life, and then got destroyed by the latter?" - Garami
"That one, yes. Their arrogance toward anything not-Arahana was on a whole different level. If they weren't some of the greatest believers in Goddess Yrlanaya, they would have been wiped off the maps by divine punishment before all that." - Dejidem
Then, the Ultimate Goddess of Life's believers chose to hide the clues about the Yamatai Grand Festival's dark side? Why?
"...not that it matters in the present." - Garami
"Yes...hey! You never answered my question!" - Dejidem
"Your...oh yeah. Why there are other people down here. Simply said, that subordinate I mentioned before, he kidnapped them." - Garami
".........huh?" - Dejidem
"As I said, the guys kidnapped people that participated in the festival, but couldn't continue for some reason." - Garami
That's what I've deduced from the statements from Revi and the other victims that weren't with us before now.
"...for what reasons did that subordinate or whatever do that?" - Dejidem
"To make some Dungeon-ship. We encountered that guy on our trip to this continent and he used his Extra Skill to kill people, then force their souls into the ship. He said something about the Festival not bringing enough power for their goals, not that I know what that is..." - Garami
Dejidem started to leak out a red aura as I continued to talk. E-ehh? Did I say something bad...
"Miss Garami, do you know of any other strange occurrences similar to these kidnappings?" - Dejidem
"Huh? Strange...there was the Wild Hunt Lord in that old Dungeon-mansion..." - Garami
"...? Okay, something related to mirrors then? Or even glass?" - Dejidem
"Glass? No...ah, but there were some strange guys. They had crystals lodged into their bodies and turned everyone around them crazy. They must have been the same, considering they were attacking the shrine of a Lesser God-" - Garami
*KABOOOOOOOM!!*
"THROOOOOOONE!! YOU HAVE CROSSED THE LINE THAT SHOULD NEVER BE CROOOOOOSSED!! INNOCENT MORTALS AREN'T ENOUGH FOR YOOOOOOU!!?" - Dejidem
Whaaa-!? Dejidem exploded!? He's turned into a pillar of fire! From pure anger? You literally exploded from pure anger!?? It feels like he could KO the whole Velantas Civil War right now! Both sides in one punch! P-please direct that anger toward the bad guys!
A-hahaha...gods are crazy... I mean, comparing my Darkness Pillar from before with the flame pillar Dejidem is emitting now would be like comparing a strawman to Ironman!
"Grr, but that damn treaty's in the way. Even if I don't care about being stuck here in this cauldron of malice, I cannot touch those bastards when they hold themselves in. Even if I used necromancy........." - Dejidem
...uh-oh. I don't like this. My demon senses are tingling! Help! Anyone!! An incarnation of rage equal or greater than the [Wrath] skill is glaring at me!!! He's got more intensity than the Eye of S*uron!!
"Boss! What's happe-whoa!?" - Grunt A
"The skeleton-guy is on fire!" - Revi
And there came the other chumps plus Revi. No wonder, considering the mess this guy makes...Revi? O-hohoho! I've obtained a distraction! I hope...

Kigal-Note/Special Classes: Pirate
Description:
Pirates. The scourge of the sea, rats on drafts, and those swimming in rum.
The Pirate class is a criminal-variant of the Sailor class, obtained by evolving the class when combining it with a criminal-type class like Rogue, Thief, or Slasher.
Pirate is Warrior/Special-line class that focuses on combat on a ship, getting some quick coins, and group combat.
The first set of skills, [Marine Combat] that improves marine combat knowledge and grants a boost to movements and [Ocean Attack] that consumes SP to enhance attacks with the Ocean attribute, represents the Pirate's combat advantage on a ship.
[Pirate's Menace], an intimidation-type skill that has its effects improved when used together with other copies of the same skill, [Opportunist] which lets the user instinctively recognize any opportunity that they can take advantage of, be it in battle or a scheme, and [Treasure Hunt (Pirate)], a skill that detects treasures and traps and gets stronger if one is in the sea, and/or using a map-type item, all represents the Pirate's desire for easy money.
Finally, we have the [Jolly Roger]. A Leadership-type skill that improves the stat of any other Pirate, or with a lower effect, those with negative Karma. It also works as a type of [Teamwork]-skill, and it also shares some traits with the [Swarm] skill. The more Pirates that wave their [Jolly Roger], the greater the increase in their stats.
Finally, we have the [Stormy Sea] skill. A normal skill to see in Advance-tier classes related to the ocean, but it is by no means weaker because of this. The skill takes advantage of any Ocean-type Landscape and produces a huge attack in the shape of vicious waves. And after the attack is finished, any non-Ocean or non-Water attribute skill will have a drop in efficiency equal to [this Skill's Level / 2]% for [Skill Level] minutes, an effect that affects even skills that is attribute-less.
Garami's comment: Holy shit! If he had that last skill, that octopus could have spelled more than just trouble!
