Chapter 335: The Burrow IX

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The battle only lasted for about two to three minutes before it abruptly ended. However, it almost cost the lives of a few Demon-Hunters and they were still in fear even after the battle.

The Thought Echo was too terrifying for the Elemental Sorcerers.

“Hoof, hoof, hoof…”

Grimm continuously gasped for air while adapting to his weakened body after activating the Wild Instinct Sorcery.

Supposedly, Grimm’s body should adapt to the energy drain due to activating the sorcery. However, recovering from this weakened state of his could still take some time unless Grimm was able to increase his physical capabilities or perhaps perform a higher level Wild Instinct Sorcery activation!

Grimm then waved his Sabbatic Goat Staff and the Savage Flame Giant which was behind him disappeared along with the wind after letting out a howl. The lava sword and armor melted off the ice from the ground surface and caused steam to sizzle out from the evaporated ice.

Next, he controlled his consciousness and moved his shoulder to summon Lord Myna from the Dimensional Gaps.

“Go for a lookout over there and see if there are any casualties.”

Grimm was referring to the Thousand-eyed Carcinus that was quite a distance away. After commanding Lord Myna and still gasping for air, Grimm looked toward Alxa, the old witch who was also the team leader.

“Haha, it seems like there is nothing much to be done here. Alright, dear master, Myna at your service! I will go for a lookout for you! Hahaha…”

Soon after agreeing with Grimm’s command, Myna flapped his wings with gusto and flew at high speed toward the Thousand-eyed Carcinus.

The Thousand-eyed Carcinus clamped voraciously onto a Wolfspider carcass with its giant claw, stuffing it into its tiny mouth bit by bit and kept on munching. It entirely ignored Lord Myna’s arrival.

The Wolfspiders were merely Level 1 creatures, and with insignificant numbers, they did not pose any threat to the Thousand-eyed Carcinus as if they were just there for show.

On the other hand, the old witch, Alxa, was much calmer compared to Grimm.

Apart from the first Tree Giant that was summoned as an elemental creature, there were 8 additional smaller sized Tree Giants standing behind the witch. All of them were developed from spider carcasses after they were killed by the sorcery of the witch and the Tree Giant.

The old witch waved her magic staff, and all of the rattan giants disappeared after they let out a low, rumbling growl. Only then was she able to see Grimm’s pair of Elemental Eyes under his Mask of Truth. These eyes too were also looking back at her.

She snickered as she croaked to Grimm. “Hehehe! Grimm, one day, if you were to be qualified as a Level 2 Demon-Hunter, your name will be widely known by all the Demon-Hunters in the Seven Rings Tree of Life and you will have a very bright future.”

Evidently, Level 2 Demon-Hunters from the Holy Tower of Seven Rings would leave the Demon-Hunter Castle to live among the cliffs of the Tree of Life that were high up.

Grimm paused and caught his breath, shook his head and replied with a smile.

“It is still a long journey for me to become a Level 2 sorcerer, not to mention being widely known among all of the Demon-Hunters. For now, I will just thank you for the compliment you gave me, Master Alxa.”

After Grimm recovered some of his energy, he stood up with the aid of the staff.

“Master, I have made a count from there, there were no casualties. I even saw that the bastard of a parrot was still all good.”

Myna quickly flew over to tell Grimm. However, before he could complete his sentence, he seemed to be bothered by something that had happened when he went there for a lookout. However, he could not tell what it was.

“Hmm.”

Keeping his mum, Grimm did not continue to find out what happened between Myna and Leafie, the parrot that belonged to Lou Linman. If he was to take a wild guess, Myna must have been mocked by Leafie for making a run as soon as the battle started earlier.

He simply muttered, “It is good that there were no casualties.”

A while later, Grimm and Alxa randomly collected some specimens from the spider carcasses before flying back to the Thousand-eyed Carcinus.

“Master Grimm, those small creatures have puny firepower… not a big deal. Naturally, I did not go to provide you help.”

The Thousand-eyed Carcinus continued to munch on the dead spiders while there were a few lucky Demon-Hunters, awkwardly managing to stand on its back. Hearing the grotesque gnawing of the Thousand-eyed Carcinus had Grimm deeply disgusted.

Small creatures? Not a big deal?

Grimm let out a sigh of exasperation. Of course… for the Level 3 Thousand-eyed Carcinus, the spiders did not really pose any threat to it as if they were indeed just a bunch of small creatures.

“Hmm,”

Grimm nodded toward the Thousand-eyed Carcinus and flew toward the top of his back shell. Het then told the Demon-Hunters that had lost their offense power to the Thought Echo of the Wolfspiders. “One Sorcerer Essence from each of you.”

The Demon-Hunters did not reply, as each of them quietly handed out their Sorcerer Essence to him.

There were differences between the Dark and the Bright Sorcerers. Regardless if a Dark Sorcerer was alone or attached to a team, it was not compulsory for these Dark Sorcerers to look out for each other.

Although the Sorcerer Essences that Grimm had collected were not really high valued ones, it was still, however, a necessary action to take.

Furthermore, if all of them were not from the same demon-hunting mission team, Demon-Hunters from other teams would have already looted them of their magic staff or other valuable magic tools as compensation for the effort of protecting them.

Grimm had collected six Sorcerer Essences.

All six would be divided among those that had been involved in taking care of these Demon-Hunters.

Obviously, the two Level 2 Dark Sorcerers that could barely protect themselves and also Nairo, who had been passively protecting herself, would not be entitled to have any of the rewards of the Sorcerer Essence.

This indicated that the six Sorcerer Essences would be rewarded separately to Alxa, Grimm, the Level 2 Demon-Hunter that had summoned the water elemental creature, the sorceress from Grimm’s team that had used Sound Wave Sorcery, Lou Linman, and also the Thousand-eyed Carcinus.

Grimm divided the Sorcerer Essence that he collected and distributed them one by one. For the last two essences that should be distributed to the Thousand-eyed Carcinus and Grimm, these would, of course, be all given to Grimm.

Grimm calmly threw the essences into the Dimensional Gaps and sighed. “Phew, the Thought Echo from the Wolfspiders was really horrifying. If it wasn’t for Leafie, I might have…”

Lou Linman was still in fear of the battle that had happened earlier.

However, her parrot Leafie acted joyfully and told her, “Sister Linman, there is nothing to worry about. When I am your soul partner, I will not be like the Myna who escaped immediately the moment he saw his soul partner in danger. What a coward.”

The Myna?

“Coward? You are the coward here! Lord Myna is a highly esteemed Steel Emblem Myna and not some other ordinary Myna! Moreover, my retreat was just part of my strategy, one that included not adding any problems to my dearest Grimm.”

Myna tried to argue using ‘facts and truth’. However, his confidence level was obviously lower and unlike previous times, the tone of his voice too was much lower.

“Huh? Then why would you run away right when the spiders arrived? Well? You tell me, our highly esteemed Steel Emblem Myna that if that was not cowardice, then what was that? About your brilliant strategy of retreating, what did you do to help your dearest Grimm?”

The parrot joyfully mocked on Myna, driving him almost crazy.

All of a sudden, Myna had an idea!

He immediately burst into laughter and shouted, “Huh?! What was that? I couldn’t hear you.”

Myna let out a sneer and turned to Grimm and asked, “Master, did you hear anything? It seemed like something noisy and strange, hahaha…”

Grimm, however, ignored Myna.

Under the mask, Grimm seemed to be concentrating on something and said, “It seems like we have overestimated our capabilities when it came to the battle. The Thought Echo had caused such a huge strain on elemental sorcerers.”

A few Demon-Hunters that were affected earlier nodded their heads in agreement with Grimm.

It was indeed a horrifying moment earlier. Nairo also gnashed her teeth and tried very hard to cast out the fear that she had during the battle.

The horrifying scene from the battle was unthinkable for any elemental sorcerers. For them, any pre-arranged battle plans were unable to be carried out due to the interference that the sorcery inflicted on their mental strength.

Fortunately, Brother Nairy was still protecting himself.

Nairo held onto her thoughts, raised her head and look toward Grimm. Her golden colored long hair covered her pair of eyes; the Eye of Madness was envious, and the Eye of Sorrow that admired.

Earlier, there were no changes in her. Now, however, the distance between them had grown further.

On the other end, Alxa nodded after she heard Grimm. She managed to gather her thoughts and replied, “Our biggest mistake was not bringing along our Soul Slaves to neutralize the interference that the Thought Echo had on us. If we had, then perhaps we would not have been in such a difficult situation earlier.

Soul Slaves…

Before Grimm started his expedition into this world, he had already sacrificed four of his Amonros Soul Slaves to the Bright Sorcerers during his special mission.

Grimm let out a sigh and nodded before a thought came to him… “Perhaps Soul Slaves would be effective in going against these spiders.”

Alxa frowned for a little while she gathered her thoughts, before she too, nodded in agreement with Grimm.

First, the Elemental Sorcerers had been pursuing to magnify their own capabilities by leveraging the World’s Law with their minimal energy. Considering that fact, a constantly stable mental state would be crucial to effectively apply their wisdom. Hence, any ability that could interfere with the mental state of an Elemental Sorcerer would be a horrifying prospect.

Second, the Soul Slaves would have been a lot less affected by the Thought Echo since they had been pursuing their natural abilities. Let alone the fact that if they were to be combined with the soul control and eviction from a sorcerer, they would then possess high resistance to the Thought Echo.

“I am done!”

While Grimm and Alxa were discussing, the sorceress who had got the specimen from the Wolfspiders hurrahed in joy and relief.
