Everyone was stunned. Had Director Jiang time-travelled today? Why was she so polite to a student, even if that student was the new chief, but she had offended Li Bingman! The chief was just a title, but Li Bingman’s family history was real. Director Jiang should be clear on which side to help.
They exchanged glances and all looked blank.
Xia Ling was still angry. “I don’t care, that single room is mine!”
Jiang Qin had already scolded her stupid subordinate multiple times in her heart. She was really causing trouble! She had finally coaxed this little devil to attend day school as per the Principal’s instructions, but now they were fighting over it again! “Xiao Ling,” Jiang Qin put on her most gentle and amiable smile and said patiently, “Teacher knows that you feel wronged. Nobody would be happy to experience such a thing. But the logistics department really didn’t do it on purpose—this morning when you reported, there was really no more room, so we asked you to attend day school. Who knew that there was one room at the last moment. Since you weren’t there, we arranged it for Li Bingman.”
“What qualifications does she have to live in a single room? Only the Chief can live in one!” Xia Ling was indignant.
The teacher beside Jiang Qin really wanted to tell her: Because she’s Li Bingyu’s sister! However, she glanced at the seemingly abnormal Jiang Qin and finally resisted from speaking.
Jiang Qin smiled bitterly and searched her guts and belly to appease Xia Ling. “This is the school’s mistake and we shouldn’t let the student take responsibility. Xiao Ling, you see, the room has already been assigned to Li Bingman. If we were to drive her out, we would hurt her pride. We can’t hurt her because of our own mistakes, so we can only let her continue to live there.”
Xia Ling did understand that logic. If it was someone she didn’t have any enmity towards, she would have let the matter go.
But she had lots of enmity with Li Bingman!
“Why should I care if her self-esteem is hurt?!” In fact, Xia Ling wanted her self-esteem to be hurt. “As the new Chief, I’ve been robbed of my room. Who is responsible for my self-esteem?!”
Staring at the forceful little girl, Jiang Qin had a terrible headache.
She didn’t dare to drive Li Bingman out of the single room. Wasn’t that just offending her badly? But she couldn’t afford to offend the little girl in front of her either. She could only pacify her patiently. “Of course you’re the new chief. Even if Li Bingman is living in the single room, it doesn’t mean anything. Okay, how about the school send you a special car every day to pick you up to and from school. You’ll be the first one to enjoy this special treatment ever since the Training Camp was created.”
Xia Ling snorted. “Who wants your lousy car!”
She was furious and couldn’t care to respect the teacher. If she was willing to attend day school, why would she need a car sent by the school to pick her up? Brother Pei had already sent her a Rolls Royce!
She just wanted to seek justice for herself!
Jiang Qin’s expression changed from being scolded in front of all her subordinates. Even though she understood in her heart that the origin of this little girl wasn’t small, she still couldn’t hide her disdain for her. She suppressed her temper and said, “In short, it’s impossible to make Li Bingman move out. The school will make it up to you in another way. Xia Ling, it’s not early anymore, you should go back and discuss with the grown-ups at home. I believe they will be reasonable.”
“Are you saying that I’m not being reasonable?” The little girl was about to blow up with rage.
“I…” Jiang Qin simply wanted to hit this devil child. How was she so good at catching her hidden meaning? She took a deep breath and told herself to be calm. She said, “Anyway, just go back first. If you have any opinions, let your parents talk to me.”
“Who are you to see my parents?” Seeing that Jiang Qin was trying to chase her away, Xia Ling was so angry she was speaking incoherently. Brother Pei was so busy every day, how could she trouble him over such a little thing? She was really so stupid and couldn’t even handle such a tiny problem. She had caused so much trouble on the first day of reporting to school…

The little girl thought of this and wanted to cry.
Contrarily, the teacher beside Jiang Qin still lectured her. “My goodness, who do you think you are. Just based on your parents who can’t even afford a BMW, what are you being cocky about?! Quickly apologize to Director Jiang!”
“Enough!” Jiang Qin glared sternly at the teacher. How stupid was this person, had she not offended Xia Ling enough! She would have to give her the lowest level on this year’s job rating! It was necessary!
The teacher realized that she had rubbed her the wrong way and quickly covered her mouth.
The other onlookers thought that Jiang Qin was flying into a rage out of being humiliated by this little girl in public. The thought of the little girl having a “background” didn’t even occur to them. Hence, they bowed their heads and pretended to do their own things, but in actual fact, they were listening attentively to everything.
Jiang Qin’s face turned pale. She really wanted to teach this girl a lesson, but considering that this person had come out of Secretary Zhou’s car, she couldn’t afford to lecture her. The phrase “who are you to see my parents” was really frightening. However, if she did not give her a lecture, wouldn’t she be thoroughly discredited in the face of so many subordinates?
Jiang Qin powered silently for a few seconds before she said bluntly, “Just go back first.”
“I refuse!”
“It’s no use standing here either. If you don’t go, I’ll have to call your parents.” The enrollment form had a phone number for emergency contacts which could be found by checking.
To conceal her identity, Xia Ling had filled in the contact information with the butler’s number, but she understood that if the school really called the butler, he would tell the truth to Pei Ziheng.
She didn’t want to cause trouble for Brother Pei over such a small matter. Brother Pei would probably think she was too weak.
The little girl’s nose begun to get sour again.
She held back her tears and looked fiercely at Jiang Qin before turning and dragging her big suitcase away.
Jiang Qin had originally wanted to ask someone to help her move the luggage, but she had just lost face in front of so many subordinates. If she were to say that, where would her dignity be? Hence, she snorted coldly and went back to her office.
Xia Ling dragged the suitcase and headed out of the school gate. At the entrance, all kinds of luxury cars that were sent to the new students were now gone, making it seem a little desolate. Only the Pei family’s driver was still leaning against the BMW. He stood there looking quietly at the scenery.
“Miss, why have you come out?” He saw Xia Ling and immediately came forward to pick up her big luggage. “Let me carry it, this luggage is so heavy, you’ll be tired.”
The little girl’s nose was still a little red and her voice was low-spirited. “Uncle Li, why haven’t you gone yet?”
Driver Li had long been told that she was going to attend day school, so of course he’d stayed here waiting for her. However, he couldn’t possibly tell her that, so he laughed and said, “After sending you, I ate a meal nearby and took a break. I was about to head back when you came out coincidentally. Miss, why aren’t you living in the dormitories?”
Xia Ling was listless. “I’ll tell you at home.”
Without waiting for the driver to open the door for her, she opened the door to the back seat and got into the car. Unexpectedly, her forehead hit the frame and instantly swelled like a big bag. “Ouch!” She screamed painfully, tears streaming down her cheeks.
