Xia Yingluo smiled at having gotten what she wanted. Then, she got up and said her goodbye.
Pei Ziheng didn’t ask her to stay. He had originally looked for her to hear about Xia Ling, but since she didn’t want to say more, what was the use of staying? However, when she was at the door, Pei Ziheng asked, “What’s going on with you and Wei Lingnan?”
Xia Yingluo was stunned.
“He and I…” It was too difficult to explain in a few words, and Xia Yingluo turned to look at Pei Ziheng. “Uncle Pei, do you know him?”
Pei Ziheng looked at her lightly. “Why, you don’t know?”
“I’ve never heard of this person before,” Xia Yingluo said, “Who is he?”
“It seems that your parents have protected you very well.” Pei Ziheng didn’t want to say more. He only knew odd bits and pieces about Wei Lingnan. He had heard about the mysterious history of the Wei Family Biopharmaceutical Group. This man called Wei Lingnan was so exceptionally adept in trickery that even that Preceptor Xia had to be wary of him. But the Xia and Li families didn’t even reveal anything about this man whom the Preceptor Xia feared, so why should he take on the role?
He waved his hand and signaled that Xia Yingluo could go.
Xia Yingluo was a little sullen. She knew from his expression that he seemed to know something, but wasn’t willing to tell her. Judging from his words, did her parents know Wei Lingnan? Why hadn’t they ever told her about him… he was probably just an ordinary character not worth making a fuss about?
She left in confusion.
The weather outside the administrative building was clear, and the green shade of the midsummer covered the sky.
The Dean was waiting for her on the steps at the door. He saw her and said with a smile, “You’re out, Yingluo?” It was probably because he knew the reason why Pei Ziheng had called her, his expression towards her was much more friendly than before.
Xia Yingluo asked, “Dean, is there anything else?”
The Dean wanted to ask her what Pei Ziheng had said to her, but judging from her expression, he decided not to try. “That’s it.” He still had a smile on his face. “I have good news to tell you. That day when you performed at the engagement banquet of Miss Pei Yan, a producer took a fancy to you. He has found the training camp and has invited you to act in a movie. It’s a good thing, so the training camp has already agreed on your behalf.”
This was indeed a good thing—for ordinary trainees, this opportunity was too rare.
But Xia Yingluo didn’t really want to be famous, she just wanted to hang around in the training camp. She sighed with a lack of enthusiasm. “Thank you, Dean, but can I reject it?”
“Reject it?” The Dean looked at her like she was a monster. “Are you okay?”
Xia Yingluo sighed again. “Can’t I?” She knew that each training camp had strict rules, and trainees must obey the camp’s arrangements. No matter what the arrangement was, they were not qualified to pick and choose.
Sure enough, the Dean said, “No. Unless you ask Chairman Pei to help you out.”
Xia Yingluo glanced at the Dean and saw his ambiguous look. Did he have some sort of misunderstanding about them? This was really annoying, and in order to make it even messier, she could only say, “Fine, I’ll go.”
The Dean smiled again. “Yes, this is a good thing.”
After a few days, Xia Yingluo reported to the crew according to the information given by the Dean.
The place to report was in the film and television city. Xia Yingluo arrived only to know that the actor who originally played the lead role was suddenly ill, so they had urgently found someone to replace her. An assistant director greeted her and said, “You’re Xia Yingluo, right? Zhang Produce introduced me to you after seeing you at the banquet. He thought your image and temperament fit the role well. The moment you walked over, I thought he was right. There’s no time, go through the script once and we’ll start filming.”

Xia Yingluo was shocked. “Official shooting?”
The director said, “Yeah, I know that the preparation time isn’t enough, but there’s no choice, we have to rush. You’ll have to work hard. Anyways, you only have a few lines, so just act with your attitude.”
It didn’t sound difficult.
Xia Yingluo glanced down at the script. “Ok.”
The director smiled and encouraged her with a few words, then he turned and went to do something else.
She sat alone in the corner, flipping through the script. She was playing a supporting role, a female junior high school student in the Republic of China who walked into an alley and had her money snatched by several robbers. She only had to turn around and scream and struggle all the way, so it wasn’t really difficult. “Do I look like someone who is robbed easily?” Xia Yingluo mumbled to herself. She turned over the script and started brooding over what the director had meant by “your image and temperament fits”.
It didn’t take long to start shooting.
Xia Yingluo was talented and intelligent and was a top student in the training camp. Although it was her first serious filming, when the camera crew pointed at her, she naturally entered the character’s state.
It was drizzling in the alley and apricot was blossoming.
She wore a light blue student outfit and walked in it with graceful manners. Just her back view was enough to attract attention.
The cameramen chased her, and couldn’t bear to miss any second of her beauty. She wandered freely in the focal point, without the awkwardness that a newcomer should have.
The director narrowed his eyes slightly. This girl has a good camera feel and will become a big thing next time.
But it was such a pity.
Who told her to offend people?
The director motioned at the few male actors on the side. Dressed as hooligans, they entered the shot and followed after her.
Xia Yingluo was walking in front, always keeping an eye on the movement behind her and carefully refraining from fighting back against the upcoming attack—she was taught very well by her father and brother since she was a child, and her self-defense technique was first-rate. If a real fight was to break out here, these people might not be her opponent.
There was a wind behind her head.
She felt her grip on her shoulders, so she restrained the urge to throw the other person over her shoulders and screamed in acting. Turning her head, her hair fluttered in the drizzle, and her delicate little face showed a horrified look. Her eyes widened when she saw the men who were attacking her—her posture was so beautiful. She was so good and so fully equipped.
Many staff at the scene were holding their breath. This girl was really touching.
Even the actor who had seized her was fascinated by her beauty.
“Little girl, why are you walking alone? Come on and give up the money on you…” Another clumsily-dressed actor spoke and used his pair of restless hands to touch her chest.
Xia Yingluo was instinctively surprised and she avoided his touch without thinking.
The other person froze for a moment, seemingly surprised that she was able to avoid him. Xia Yingluo also froze for a moment. She didn’t expect the other party to really grope her chest. The scene was hurriedly shot and the actors didn’t prepare in advance. She had no mental preparation for their actions. She glared at them a few times and warned them silently not to mess around.
