Chapter 222: Futile Escape

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

What sort of way to die and what my dead body should be stored in?

Xia Ling did not even want to think about her answer. She only wanted to continue living. She continued to stall for time and slowly walked forward as he introduced his collectibles to her. She pointed to a slingshot and asked, “Li Lei liked to play with that when he was a child?”

“He never told you that before?” Li Feng let out a gorgeous smile. “Since he never told you, why should I tell you? What he likes has nothing to do with you. Some things were never meant for you to know.”

Xia Ling was too lazy to argue with Li Feng and only realized that it was not a good topic to delay time. Thus, she asked another question. “How did that rabbit over there die?”

This time, Li Feng started talking and explained what had happened without hesitation.

“When Xiao Lei was five, he found an injured rabbit in the mountains. I asked him to give it to me, but he refused. He brought it back home and tried to heal its broken bones. Every time I saw that the damned rabbit was about to recover fully, I would secretly break its bones again. Ha, after breaking its bones for about four times, Xiao Lei cried and came to me desperately…”

Li Feng was immersed in his memories and did not notice that Xia Ling had secretly stepped back to hide a broken dagger in her hands.

Li Feng touched the glass partition and pretended to stroke the rabbit soaked in Formalin. “Look at its front paws, they’re broken now… Well, do you think its other claws are broken too? Of course. I later stole the rabbit, dug its eyes out, cut off its ears and broke every bone underneath it… You didn’t see how Xiao Lei reacted then. He cried intensively and begged me not to be so cruel. Haha, am I really that cruel?”

His voice was very soft as he turned his head to look at Xia Ling. “What do you think? Am I cruel?”

Not only are you cruel, but you are also literally a psychopath!

Xia Ling condemned him in her heart. She looked at the empty eyelids of the rabbit after its eyeballs were dug out and its broken mouth. It looked as if it was silently screaming. Trying not to provoke him, she asked, “Do you enjoy bullying Li Lei since a young age? He is your biological brother. Why do you treat him like that?”

“Biological brother?” Li Feng laughed again, and his expression suddenly became ferocious. “He is a bastard! An extra! He should never have been born in this world!” He pushed the rabbit specimen on impulse and the glass broke, causing the formalin to flow out and stain the floor. The stench of the formalin started to fill the air.

Xia Ling was scared and retreated backward.

Li Feng growled and screamed. “He deserves to die! If his slut of a mother wasn’t pregnant, how do you think she would be able to marry into the Li family?! My dad belongs to my mom and my mom only! What gives him the right to marry that bitch and have a bastard son after she died?! That damned bitch!”

Every time he cursed, he would shove the items in the collection room away, and soon, they were scattered all over the place.

Xia Ling was frightened and scared. The two maids who had helped her in were already kneeling down and shivering. They did not even dare to breathe loudly.

From Li Feng’s crazy monologue, Xia Ling learned that the reason why he became crazy was due to a lack of love in his childhood days.

She did not want to stay a second longer with that psychopath. Seizing the opportunity when he turned away to break something, she made a mad dash towards the door! Her sense of direction had always been good, and the first thing she did when she entered the Snake Temple was to memorize the way out secretly. She ran the route drafted in her memory and whizzing past the twisted sculptures and oil paintings in the narrow passage. Soon, she saw a light.

“Trying to escape?!” Li Feng quickly caught up.

The two screaming maids also caught up.

Xia Ling panted and felt the blood rushing through her veins. Her palpitating heart felt like it was going to burst. Her fitness level as a woman was not bad, but since Li Feng was a large and strong young man, he caught up just as she was about to push the door of the Snake Temple open.

As he grabbed her long fluttering skirt, there was a tearing sound, and the entire skirt was torn in half.

Xia Ling screamed and instinctively protected her body with the broken piece of cloth. He had already torn her dress and pulled her into his arms.

“You can never escape,” he said.

Xia Ling was still holding the broken dagger which she stole from the collection room in her hands and did not think much as she slashed it at Li Feng. The sharp section of the blade sliced Li Feng’s cheeks and left a long bloody mark.

Li Feng lifted his hand to wipe the blood off.

“You’re the first woman to make me bleed.” He said softly before snatching the dagger away and giving her a tight slap.

Xia Ling was hit so badly that her head slanted to the other side with half of her face burning in pain. Her face was swollen numb, and her lips were bloody.

He looked at the trace of blood on her lips, stuck out his tongue, and licked it. “We’re even now,” he said with a smile.

“You surprise me, Xiao Ling.” Li Feng gently caressed her injured cheek, causing her to grimace in pain. “You look so weak, yet you are so stubborn. I changed my mind. It’s boring just to make you a specimen. How about we test your limits? I will torture you until you beg for mercy on your knees and cry heartbrokenly… Then, I will film it all to make a video for Xiao Lei. It will definitely be fun.”

He felt that his idea was wonderful and started to laugh.

Xia Ling was using one hand to hold the broken pieces of the long skirt in place, and her other hand was being held by him. As such, she did not dare to move. Her escape plan had failed. Was she really going to die there? Regardless of how hopeless her situation was, she continued to rack her brains to think of another way out…

Li Feng squeezed her neck and dragged her back into the depths of the Snake Temple. “Well, let’s try it out now.”

Xia Ling was almost suffocated by his grip and had no energy even to struggle.

Just when she felt like she was about to die, she suddenly heard the voice of a maid. “Young… Young Master Feng, your phone…”

Li Feng stopped.

The maid delivered a phone on a delicate tray.

After looking at the number, he impatiently accepted the call. “Hello, old man, what is it?!” He had always been disrespectful towards Old Master Li and had a bad temper. Everyone wondered why a man of his word like Old Master Li was able to tolerate his behavior for so many years.

Old Master Li said, “Ah Feng, let Ye Xingling go.”

“Let her go?” Li Feng was stunned. He looked sullenly at the woman who was coughing desperately as he held her neck. “Old man, are you crazy? Don’t tell me you have acknowledged her as Xiao Lei’s girlfriend.”

Old Master Li said something on the phone.

Li Feng’s initially savage expression slowly calmed down. He hung up the phone and laughed at Xia Ling.

“How interesting.” He threw Xia Ling to the floor like a rag doll. “Xiao Lei doesn’t want you anymore. He has already broken up with you and doesn’t consider you his girlfriend anymore. Xiao Ling… you are so pitiful.”
