Yet, it wasn’t long before the guests and reporters realized that she was alone in the corner and made a beeline for her, making conversation or asking for interviews. Xia Ling was used to such things given that she had been a Diva for years in her past life, but she did not enjoy the attention and only felt fatigued.
She managed to rid herself of them with difficulty.
She did not dare stand in just any corner but instead started to walk over to the private rest area, holding up her silvery-white dress tail. The moonlight shone on the steps in front of the door, and shadows of the flowers in the trees printed beautiful patterns on the stairs.
In this beautiful spring night, she saw a person that she did not ever want to see.
“Xia Yu?” She stopped in her tracks and stared at the beautiful girl also standing in front of the door, her voice cold. “What are you doing here?” If she hadn’t recalled wrong, she did not send Xia Yu an invitation to the 100-day celebration. How did she manage to come in?
Xia Yu was dressed in an elegant chiffon evening gown that was swaying in the light spring breeze. She looked even more attractive than before, still keeping up with her fragile damsel-in-distress image. She looked over at Xia Ling and flashed a confident and sweet smile. “Ye Xingling? It was Brother Ziheng that invited me, didn’t you know?”
Since when did Pei Ziheng invite Xia Yu?
Xia Ling was stunned, and a small ball of rage rose up in her chest. He was aware that she despised this little sister, so why did he invite her to the house to agitate her?
With this thought, Xia Ling’s expression clouded over.
In contrast, Xia Yu continued to smile. “I really don’t understand… how did a shallow woman like you manage to marry Brother Ziheng? Brother Ziheng doesn’t care about you at all, you know that, right? Otherwise, why would he invite me to this celebration and not tell you at all?”
If Xia Ling still loved Pei Ziheng, she might have been hurt by Xia Yu’s words.
However, her love for him had long passed.
Xia Ling arrogantly looked at Xia Yu, revealing a perfect smile. “Very good. So Pei Ziheng allowed you in here, you say? Nevermind, I can still chase you out.”
“What are you going to do?!” Xia Yu’s expression fell.
“Since you’re so clever, can’t you guess?” Xia Ling continued smiling, but a coldness spread in the depths of her eyes. She raised her voice. “Waiter!”
A waiter standing nearby swiftly came over.
Xia Ling addressed him, but her cold gaze remained trained on Xia Yu. “Call security over and get this woman out of the premises.” This was her home, and she had to let Xia Yu know who was the lady boss!
Xia Yu said, “Ye Xingling, you wouldn’t dare!”
“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Xia Ling laughed. “Xia Yu, please get things straight. I’m the one who’s married to Pei Ziheng, and I’m the Madam here. Who are you? If you’re smart, you will get out of here right now. If you aren’t smart, then we can blow this up, and the one who’s going to lose face is you!”
Her words were sharp and arrogant, and at that moment, it seemed that the wilful Diva had come back.
Even Xia Yu thought to herself, This b*tch…
She really does resemble my dead sister.
Her resemblance made Xia Yu see red and feel jealous.
“Madam?” Xia Yu copied her tone of voice and burst into laughter, her slender face filling with disgust. “You just relied on your child to get where you are. Brother Ziheng might not like you at all.”
“That’s not something for you to worry about.” Xia Ling nonchalantly retorted.

Very quickly, two security guards came over. Under the moonlight, their black suits looked sharp and formal.
Xia Ling pointed at Xia Yu. “Get her out of here.”
“Ye Xingling, you can’t do this! I was personally invited by Brother Ziheng!” Xia Yu started to scream.
Xia Ling couldn’t care less about her and hurried the security guards with her eyes.
The two security guards did not dare to dilly-dally. They walked in front of Xia Yu and restricted her movements from both sides. “Miss Xia Yu, please follow us out.”
Under the circumstances, all Xia Yu could do was glare angrily at Xia Ling and say, “Ye Xingling, I will remember this! I will get you back for this!”
“Is that so?” Xia Ling brushed her off.
The two security guards hurried Xia Yu. “Miss Xia Yu, you have to leave now. Please hurry up.”
“I can walk by myself!” Xia Yu glared at the two security guards as she straightened out her elegant and luxurious evening gown. Lifting her chin with the remnants of her pride, she was led out under the guards’ watchful eyes.
Xia Ling watched as she left, her irritation lifting slightly.
After this quarrel, she suddenly didn’t want to return to the private rest area, but instead felt hungry. Thus, she walked back to the dining area to eat a few, small bites, making small talk with some of the female guests standing around as she partook of the snacks.
The 100-day celebration lasted well into the night, and when the last of the guests finally left, it was already 2 am.
Xia Ling dragged her tired body back into the bungalow and asked Nanny Zhou, “Where’s the baby? Can you go see if he’s asleep or awake? He should be getting hungry again soon… Can you please carry him over so I can feed him?”
Nanny Zhou went off to look for the nanny caring for the child.
Xia Ling went to the bedroom and realized that Pei Ziheng wasn’t there.
She wiped off her make-up and looked into the dressing table mirror as she removed the jade-lined gold hair accessories from her deep green locks. She then carefully took off the exquisite earrings she was wearing that were of the same series as the hair accessories and changed out of the resplendent silver-white silk evening gown into a loose-fitting cotton long-sleeved pajamas.
She poured herself a glass of water and rested for a while.
The bedroom door opened. Xia Ling thought that it was Nanny Zhou and chided, “What took you so long? Quick, bring him over so I can see if he is hungry… ”
Before she finished her sentence, she stopped as she caught sight of the person that had walked in.
It was Pei Ziheng.
Pei Ziheng stood by the door watching her, still donning his deep-colored suit, his tie and collar neatly in place. His eyes were narrowed in irritation. “You’re so concerned for your son?”
That was her son… how could she not be concerned?
Xia Ling thought to herself but kept quiet, knowing that he was not in a good mood. She did not want to agitate him. She stood up and approached him, saying, “I asked Nanny Zhou to carry the child over to me, so I thought it was her when I heard the door opening… Wait… What are you doing?!”
Before she had finished her sentence, he had already pulled her into his arms.
There was a mild stench of alcohol on his body, and she could not ascertain how much he had had to drink. His voice was lower and more hoarse than usual. “Instead of being so concerned about someone else’s kid, you should be more concerned about our kid. Xiao Ling, give me a child.”
Xia Ling struggled and pushed his chest away with both hands, her heart pounding. “The doctor… the doctor said that we can’t just yet…”
“You don’t want to at all, right?” His expression changed, and he gripped her chin with one hand, forcing her to lift her face up to his. “Xia Ling, you just don’t want to have my child! Your plan is to drag it out day by day, isn’t it?!”
