Su Jianan rapidly ate some food to fill up her empty stomach before she sealed the leftovers with plastic food wrap and stored them in the refrigerator. Next, she cooked a hangover soup and then went to check on Lu Boyan, who was resting on the sofa.
Lu Boyan was not as drunk as Su Yicheng. When he heard Su Jianan’s footsteps getting closer, he opened his eyes which looked were extra bright due to the alcohol. He smiled and said, “Honey.”
His tone was full of dependency and trust…
Since he and Su Yicheng got drunk, Su Jianan clearly had a reason to be mad at him. Instead, she knelt down next to him and massaged his temples with her fingers. “Is your head still dizzy? Are you feeling better?”
Lu Boyan grasped her hand and gently rubbed it in his hands. Satisfied, he said, “I feel much better.”
Su Jianan’s last trace of anger was subsided. She poured out half of the hangover soup into a thermos bottle and left a note on Su Yicheng’s night table, reminding him of the hangover soup and leftovers in the refrigerator. She poured out the other half of the soup for Lu Boyan. “Get up, drink this.”
Lu Boyan sniffed it and raised his eyebrows to the smell. “Feed me, or I won’t drink it!” He sounded like a capricious big boy.
Su Jianan squeezed out a smile. “Fine, I will feed you. Be nice and open your mouth.” She would deal with him tomorrow!
Lu Boyan smiled, opened his mouth, and soon finished drinking the bowl of hangover soup.
“Okay, let’s go home!” said Su Jianan.
Lu Boyan behaved obediently as he walked out with her assistance, trying not to put his weight on her.
Before Su Jianan could praise him, he resumed his original personality right after he got on the car. He held Su Jianan tightly and fell asleep with his whole body leaned against her.
Su Jianan felt speechless. “…”
It took some time to get to the villa from the city center. Lu Boyan automatically woke up after they arrived home. Perhaps, the hangover soup worked, his eyes looked much clearer.
Still concerned, Su Jianan continued to help him get upstairs.
But as soon as they entered the room, he trapped Su Jianan behind the door with a slight push.
His pretty eyes reflected a burning light and glanced at Su Jianan with a sly look. Su Jianan was confused. Was he drunk or sober?
Lu Boyan’s thumb gently stroked across Su Jianan’s eyebrows, cheeks, and chin. Suddenly, he wrapped his hands around her head and lowered his head to bite her lips.
That was right, he bit her!
His bite was gentle and forceful at the same time, carrying some hints. Su Jianan made a “hiss” sound and just as she hoped to push Lu Boyan away, he suddenly contained her lips with a kiss.
Not completely sober, he kissed her uncontrollably. Su Jianan coaxed him to take a bath, but he abruptly locked her waist and left a hickey on her neck. “Do not reject me.”
“…”
Not to mention rejection, Su Jianan didn’t even have a chance to speak.
…
Su Jianan was supposed to go to work on the next day.
But when she woke up, it was already noon.
She actually didn’t get much sleep.
Resting his head on the pillow next to hers, Lu Boyan showed a relaxed and lazy look between his eyebrows. With just one glimpse of him, Su Jianan’s cheeks turned red.
She felt regretful… In the future, she would either never let Lu Boyan drink, or get him completely wasted!
When he was half sober and half-drunk, she would be the one suffering.
Su Jianan glanced at Lu Boyan, who looked innocently at ease. “Never drink with my brother again in the future.”
“Well?” He picked his eyebrows and argued. “The liqueur is not completely useless.”
Su Jianan’s forehead darkened, and asked angrily, “What good does it do!?”
Lu Boyan smiled and kissed her lips. Then he got closer to her ear. “Spice things up.”
Kaboom—
As if struck by lightning, Su Jianan shook up as a whole.
Spice… spice things up…
From now on, Su Jianan could no longer calmly face any type of liqueur.
After the morning routines, Su Jianan prepared to go to work. But Lu Boyan said, “I thought you would sleep till the afternoon, so I helped you take the day off.”
“…” Su Jianan didn’t know if she should pounce on him to bite him or thank him.
After lunch, Jiang Shaokai sent a message to Su Jianan, saying that there was a murder case in the southern part of the city. He was too busy with work. She responded with enthusiasm: I am free in the afternoon. I’ll go back to work now!
Lu Boyan was very discontent with her response and frowned. “He only said that he was busy, and you just decided to help him?”
He was obviously jealous! But she couldn’t expose Boss Lu!
Su Jianan raised a bright and charming smile. “When we say busy, it usually speaks on behalf of the entire police station. I am not helping Jiang Shaokai. I am helping my department to improve crime-solving rate!”
Lu Boyan reluctantly accepted this explanation. Su Jianan quickly diverted the topic and told him of what happened to Xu Youning’s family the day before yesterday. He raised his eyebrows. “Do you want my help?”
Su Jianan nodded and looked weakly at Lu Boyan. “The only person who can help me, is you…”
But Lu Boyan said, “Xu Youning is working for Mu Qi. Just leave it to Mu Qi.”
Su Jianan thought about it, decided that what he said made sense.
After all, Lu Boyan lived in City A; he was too far away even if he wanted to intervene in this matter. But Mu Sijue was different. As an important figure in City G, he probably only had to say the word to solve this kind of thing.
Having resolved her biggest concern, Su Jianan felt relaxed and she worked smoothly.
However, Xu Youning, who was far away in City G, was alarmed and trapped in struggles.

On the night after Su Jianan took off, she had a dream and in it, she saw Su Jianan’s naive smile.
Though it was not a nightmare, she woke up in the middle of the night and felt sleepless.
Her other concern was about Chen Qingbiao’s gang. She worried about the extreme measures they would take to snatch her grandmother’s house.
So on the next day, she deliberately took a day off from Mu Sijue and stayed at home. However, Chen Qingbiao did not appear again, so she felt reluctant to tell her grandmother about it.
On the third day, which was today, she went back to work.
Shortly after she had handled a customer dispute in the clubhouse, she received a strange phone call and a strange voice asked her, “Are you Xu Qiulian’s granddaughter?”
Xu Qiulian was her grandmother’s name.
“Mrs. Xu passed out at home and was discovered by her neighbor. She had been rescued at the Eighth People’s Hospital.”
Xu Youning blanked out for a moment. She hung up the phone and rushed to the parking lot. One of Mu Sijue’s assistant named Ah Guang saw her flustered and asked, “Sister Youning, what happened?”
Actually, Xu Youning was only 23 years old, still quite young.
However, she had recently become Mu Sijue’s right-hand woman for she was extremely agile and courageous when she worked. Though many of Mu Sijue’s assistants were older than her, they still obediently called her big sister despite their age and ranking.
Xu Youning opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. She buckled on her seat belt and said, “Take me to the Eighth People’s Hospital!”
When she arrived at the hospital, her grandmother had already woke up. She clung onto Xu Youning’s hand and said, “Youning, we will not sell our house. Even if we do sell, we won’t sell it to Chen Qingbiao!”
“Chen Qingbiao’s gang came to our house today?” Xu Youning immediately guessed it.
Grandma closed her eyes and nodded weakly. “He said he wanted to buy our house. He also said that he would give us a high price for your father’s sake. Who cares about his stinky money? Not to mention that is our ancestral home, how can we sell it? Grandma won’t be around for a long time. I have nothing left for you, except for a place to stay.”
“Grandma, you can rest assured.” Xu Youning tightly held her grandma’s hands. “I will protect you and protect our home.” There was a firm persistence on her face which ordinary girls did not possess.
She waited until Grandma fell asleep again before leaving the ward. She had already calmed down, and Ah Guang cut out his cigarette and asked her, “Is everything okay?”
Xu Youning shook her head. “It’s not a big deal. Right, where are you going?”
“I am going back to Number One.” Ah Guang said, “I have to report to Seventh Brother.”
“Then let’s go back to Number One,” said Xu Youning with murderous eyes.
Ah Guang failed to notice the difference in her eyes and started the car.
Number One referred to the Number One Clubhouse in City G, an asset under the name of Mu Sijue. Mu Sijue usually came here when he needed to deal with matters unrelated to the company.
After they arrived in front of the clubhouse, Xu Youning stayed in the car. Ah Guang looked at her confusedly. “Seventh Brother is in his office. Aren’t you going up?”
“I need to go somewhere to find someone, you go up first.”
Confused, Ah Guang sensed Xu Youning’s abnormalities after she came out of the hospital, but he couldn’t question her anything. He simply replied. “Okay.”
Once he came out of the car, Xu Youning shifted into the driver’s seat and drove to the ancient village.
Ah Guang headed straight to Mu Sijue’s office. Mu Sijue was inside. He called out. “Seventh Brother.” Then he began to report.
There were mostly trivial matters. Mu Sijue let out a “hmm”, and the phone on his side suddenly rang. It was a call from Lu Boyan.
There was no such thing as “catching up” between the two. If Lu Boyan called, he must want something to be done.
As expected, he called for him to help Xu Youning deal with some things.
After hanging up the phone, Mu Sijue remembered that he had not seen the little girl at the clubhouse for a long time today. He asked casually, “Where is Xu Youning?”
“Sister Youning had been acting weirdly today,” Ah Guang said, “earlier, she went to the clubhouse on Hua Bei Road and dealt with some issues. Afterward, she hurriedly out and asked me to take her to the hospital. I checked with the nurse, it was her grandmother who had been hospitalized. In fact, she was just downstairs earlier, but she didn’t come up. She said she needed to find someone and took off.”
Mu Sijue twitched his eyebrows. “Why was her grandmother hospitalized?”
“The nurse said that something happened to her at home. I dared not to ask Sister Youning about the details, she…”
Before Ah Guang finished his sentence, Mu Sijue had already picked up the phone and called Xu Youning. So Ah Guang simply shut his mouth.
The call was picked up quickly. Mu Sijue asked directly, “Where are you going?”
“Home!”
“What for?”
“To find someone!”
“Who?”
“Cheng Qingbiao!”
The little girl’s voice sounded devastatingly murderous. For the first time, Mu Sijue sensed the difficulties in dealing with her. “What are you up to?”
Xu Youning said word by word, “I am going to kill him!”
“You…” Xu Youning hung up the call before Mu Sijue could say another word.
A figure like Brother Mu Qi got hung up on for the first time.
He stared at the phone screen for a second. “Shit!”
He got up at the next second. “Let’s go!”
Before Ah Guang could ask him where he wanted to go, Mu Sijue had already strode out his office as Ah Guang jogged to keep up.
Fetching his car, Ah Guang asked carefully, “Seventh Brother…”
Mu Sijue said, “Xu Youning’s house!”
Seeing Mu Sijue’s infrequent anger fused with a some anxiety, Ah Guang realized that it was not a simple situation. Without another word, he started the car and headed for the ancient village.
