A white-haired girl named Leu. The abominable demon Agathos, who had borrowed her form, stepped into the room, making footsteps. Each sound sounded different from what a human would make.
Looking at the phialert behind her and the bitter expression on Erdis' face, it seems that Agathos has come here of his own volition.
This is not good. Something cold touched the back of my ear. My heart raced once.
I didn't tell the old man or the Garristo soldiers that I had brought a demon egg with me. At least, I didn't want them to have any part of it.
If I had told them, they would have cut off her head on the spot.
If possible, I wanted her to sleep for a while, or for Leu to wake up. If her true identity was revealed at this point, everything could go horribly wrong.
What should I do? There was nothing I could do to stop it, but a voice in my ear said.
What's wrong with you? You look like a kitten hit by a headwind. You want to kill him badly. You want to win this thing once and for all. To the ruler.
A lot of generals. And so, the sight of the girl, undaunted even under Richard's old man's gaze, made everyone around her turn white for a moment. What the hell is this girl? The silent pauses spoke more eloquently of their bewilderment than a variety of words.
Prior to that, Fialat made a small movement of his protruding lips. His voice was strangely smooth, though he must have forced the words into it.
It's all well and good to call yourself a collaborator ....... At best, I'm an informant. I brought you here because I thought it would make sense.
A moment later, I noticed a pair of black eyes looking at me. There was a hint of frustration in the blackness.
That was enough for me to understand what he was trying to say.
Fialaat, a man who prides himself on his calmness, is in this much of a hurry. Something troublesome must have happened that he didn't want to talk about. Perhaps he was just making things up as he went along.
For some reason, Agathos is trying to help the humans. I understood that she was at odds with Drigman the controller. But I never imagined that she would lend her power to the humans.
In the first place, a demoness would never choose a human as a bargaining partner. Especially if it was a jewel of unbridled cruelty.
A change of heart. It's a very human trait. Demonic beings don't usually change their minds. If they do, it's very rare. It has been said that demons are one-dimensional creatures, while humans are multi-dimensional creatures.
I wondered why the demoness, who was the purest of the demons, had changed her state of mind since the past. His palms become slightly moist. If it was just a whim, so be it.
He opened his mouth to speak, and just as he was about to follow up on Fialat's words. The old man traces his beard with his finger and says.
A bad feeling crept up my throat.
"I've seen something like that before. You're mixed up, girl. Lugis, what have you brought me?
Eyes that don't hide the years they've been through still pierce my eyeballs with a strong will.
I hate it. Oh no! Of course I didn't think I could hide everything from this old man. I wish you'd have a little more discretion.
You could at least see the effort I'm making. You seem to be lacking in that kind of compassion. Of course, I've known this for a long time.
He shrugged his shoulders and said. He took a step closer to Agathos.
She's half human, but the other half is like a demon. She seems to know a lot about demons. They say leave the smithing to the smiths. If we're going to find out about them, we should talk to someone who's closer to them.
I said this, trying to make it sound like it was nothing, whenever possible. If you show any strange agitation here, you are bound to be suspected even more.
Then, even if you are just making things up as you go along, you should speak in a dignified manner. At least, you should be able to fool yourself. Otherwise, you can't fool people.
The old man opened his mouth, his firm eyes flickering.
"You're half demonic, Lugis. You know that, don't you?
"Half of them are human, just like us, old man.
He opened his lips to meet her gaze. The old man's beard waggled as his gaze drifted to Agathos, wrinkles deepening.
I knew the backlash. Getting a story out of a demon is not something that generals, or people in general, would easily agree to.
I could see the confusion and suspicion growing stronger with time. It was a good thing that he was not in a hurry, but his expression was not very pleasant.
A gray-haired man sees this, shakes his head, and says with a sly smile.
"You humans are so stupid. You carry a piece of intelligence on your back, but you can't do that. Since I'm offering you wisdom, you should accept it gratefully. If you don't like it, so be it. Why don't you go climb a tree and take a bite out of an apple?
You're a genius at getting on people's nerves, this gem. I really wish you'd stop.
In the past, I didn't have many opportunities to hear the word, so I only knew that it was an unruly and arrogant thing. I didn't realize that they were so flippant in their tongue. The image of a languidly beautiful woman in my mind was quietly peeling away.
...... I don't get any sense of intelligence or character from your words. Never mind, I'll use whatever I can. I'll listen to you. At least that's what the fortune teller at the bar said.
The old man said, yes, that's very good. That's very good," Agathos said with a satisfied nod. Apparently, she is a person who does not care about small words. No, or is it that human words do not touch her heart?
The Garristian generals were still looking at him with suspicion, but once the old man responded, they shook their heads. Then they would not be the ones to trample on it.
For a moment, an almost relieved sigh escaped his mouth. Beside me, a pair of blue eyes looked at me as if they intended something.
Agathos's lips ripple without a moment's pause.
"Okay. I'll tell you. He's a control freak no matter where he goes. Do you know why a being called a demon has an alias? To cut off other functions. A demon is a demon. A witch is someone who is ripped from the world in exchange for becoming one.
That's why he's always tied to the role of controller. When he's leading the demons, he's like a supreme power. But when he's not leading anything, he's weaker than any demon. That's the place to kill them.
Agathos said these words without hesitation. I'm sure that's something no one could have known even in the past. Words filled with real feeling have a strange truthfulness and weight to them. It was hard to believe that they had come from a single girl.
After a few more words, Agathos ended his speech.
"Well, that's just the way it is. That's probably why she shot you down in the end. You really are a fool.
Agathos' last words were filled with sorrow or sentimentality. I don't think he's a demon. No, it just seemed that way to me, but maybe there was nothing to it.
For a while after the words were finished, no one, including me, wanted to open their mouths. There were signs that they were trying desperately to swallow and chew the words that had come in through their ears.
Erdis, however, bounced his long ears and said to Agathos with a look of hostility.
Isn't Drigman the Controller one of yours? How can you so easily put a price tag on his neck?
It was as if a genuine question had come out of his mouth. The others must have felt it too, because their gazes suddenly fell on Agathos' body.
Agathos looked as if he didn't know what he was being asked for a moment, and then answered.
I'm one of you, of course. But it's not sensible to think of them as friends or foes. It's peculiar to humans and elves. I live for my purpose, and so does he. Humans and elves fight each other sometimes.
Agathos replied, not with sarcasm or mockery, but as if he was being asked a question that he really didn't understand. Then he added.
And he tried to kill her, and me. There can only be an equal retribution for a murderous intent.
