He breathed. In, and out. Revved up the engine at dead point, just as she’d said. Brake, gas.
He bluntly spun the wheel left, just as he’d done the previous time. Now, however, he did not force it. Simply let it spin wherever it spun to, grabbing it lightly whenever it went too far as the car started to slide sideways once again, the crackling of the glass floor ever loud below his feet.
Too close to the metal lining on the inside, he let go of the gas partway through the climbdown, just as he’d done before. But as he approached the glass windows on the side of the building once again, he was ready to step on it again, managing to bring himself back away from another possible fall.
The car slid and bumped loudly out of the ramp and onto the next level without any further complications, and once he saw he had been able to safely steer out of that narrow path and enter the wider track once again, the boy let go of the pedals and corrected the vehicle’s direction, bringing his sights straight ahead towards the opposite edge of that floor to meet the rear of the minivan, still roaring far away from him, though it hadn’t yet reached the next ramp.
“I’ll get you…”
He accelerated as far as he could, keeping the car on highest gear, and followed the van through the ramp, doing his best to slide down it without completely breaking through his own footing.
He grinned to himself. Just as matchsticks had said, it was easier for him to weave through the steel beams in the tower’s inner sections than for Sixshot, so he could easily cut some of the distance between them that way. There was still a fair bit to go, however. He could see the van exceptionally clearly, now, looking about as large as his own closed hand, but he knew he he needed to get closer yet, if he wanted a chance at defeating him.
However, before he could get close enough that he could think of some way to stop that guy in his tracks, a blinding scarlet flash directly assaulted both his eyes, coming straight from above, followed by a loud booming roar that shook the whole floor he was currently on to its foundations, shattering the ceiling above him, and the next one above it as well. Looking up out the window in disbelief, all he could see was the scarlet of Suzuka’s flames scattering around several meters above him in an even, glaring flare that completely filled the whole of the building’s area, escaping out through its sides as well in small bursts of flame.
Countless heavy-looking shards from the floors, walls and ceilings fell all around him, forcing him to weave desperately to prevent the deadly rain from piercing right through his car as he approached the current level’s exit.
“C.O.U.R.T.N.E.Y.I.’s vehicle has been destroyed. C.O.U.R.T.N.E.Y.I. down.”
“H.E.L.L.F.I.R.E.’s vehicle has been destroyed. H.E.L.L.F.I.R.E. down.”
(Thanks, matchsticks…)
In the end, even lying on the cold, stabbing floor as her own body failed her, she’d still managed to fight through the pain and use the last of her strength to eliminate that woman.
Despite her loss frustrating him in the grand scheme of that duel race, he couldn’t help but to smile just a bit, upon such blatant confirmation that, even after everything, he had chosen the best possible person to protect him.
He had, of course, been dubious of it at the time, but Jaya had hit the nail on the head. That girl really was a top-tier servant.
No matter what, he couldn’t let all that pain and sacrifice go to waste.
He checked both inventory and ability tabs. He couldn’t think of anything he could do without compromising the integrity of the floor and risking an early death for himself. That guy’s ability had also remained unused so far, so wasting his own right away could leave Haruto open to further attacks.
Sixshot should already know he was tailing him from fairly up close, and most certainly he would not be willing to let that go by.
He had to work cautiously. Wait for his enemy to make his move, and strike whatever weak point he left open once he did.

The deafening explosion up above had taken a toll on the inside of the van, making everyone in it jump and quake aound, soon swaying them around to a complete daze.
The riled up gangster shook back and forth on the van’s driver’s seat, hitting his heard hard against the horn before, turning back to look at the scene behind him, his voice filled with rage.
Akane and the woman had fallen to their sides on the seats, though Courtney III still maintained a tight grasp on the girl’s
“That crazy bitch!! She completely blew up the top floors for nothing! And what the fuck is that useless woman doing back there!?!?”
“What she should…” muttered the one woman in the dress that remained. “Putting an end to the pain… This pain…”
“Oh, shut it! No one asked you anything.” he growled, turning back around to straighten up his movement. “This is nothing but a small dent on my performance in this race track. And once this is over, I will be sure to correct this kind of behavior in you.”
“You’re scum, you know that?”
“...?”
He turned back. The words hadn’t been issued by the ‘Courtney’ servant, but by the treacherous middle school girl, in an uncharacteristically low voice.
She stared directly at him, as if in a futile attempt to size him up.
“Give it up, already.” he sighed. “Some powerless pipsqueak like you cannot possibly–”

“I always knew you weren’t exactly some great mercenary to begin with, but this display of yours is pathetic beyond words. Back in the Cyberway’s regular setting, you still had a chance with your gauntlet, but in a duel race, without being able to use it? You can’t beat big bro. No one can compete with him on the road!”
“Whatever.” he turned back around to face the wheel.
The small girl suddenly turned towards the flashy woman, fiercely hitting her own forehead against hers and managing to push her away. She immediately rushed towards the back of the middle seats and rolled over them before the woman could properly shoot her down.
“What the hell is going on back ther– !?”
Before the man could react, a pair of slender hands had started to claw at his right arm from behind his own seat, making him grunt from the sudden pinching.
Akane was able to reach with her left hand towards the man’s left arm as well, pushing both around and blocking his sight of the road as he lost control over the vehicle and veered violently to the left, colliding with one of the metal beams on their left. No matter how much he had tried to push her off, the damn brat just wouldn't let go.
“Get off me, you fucking…!”
“Big bro will take you out for sure!!”
“Courtney! I need support!!”
There was no answer to his plea. The woman simply remained seated on the back, staring quietly out the window.
“Damn you…!!”
“I’m not gonna let you win!!” the bratty girl kept whining, trying to reach for his eyes with her fingers.
The man in the suit, however, had already had enough of her shrieking.
“SHUT THE HELL UP!!!”
He opened the servant punishment listings menu, selecting the highest tiers on the ‘extreme’ tab.
“Human bomb level 15!”
With that single command, the girl instantly blew into a splat of checkerboard static, spreading all throughout the car’s middle area, and soon vanishing without leaving a single trace, piece by piece.
“A.K.A.N.E. down.”
Then, he turned to face the woman in the back seat. Who remained idle, looking out of the car.
“And you… You’re fucking useless!”
He opened the woman’s own punishment tab, selecting the same for her as well, and turning back towards the path ahead, revving up the engine.
“C.O.U.R.T.N.E.Y.I.I.I. down.”
In the meantime, he could hear the roar of the boy’s vehicle approaching, getting closer and closer by the second, he had lost far too much speed to be able to finish that race in the timeframe he’d intended.
“Damn it all!!!” shrieked the Sixshot, slamming both hands against the steering wheel as he was finally able to get the car moving again.

For some odd reason, Sixshot had crashed sideways into one of the steel pillars nearby, losing a great amount of speed. While Haruto didn’t quite get what was happening, he was not about to let that chance go untaken.
He rushed to pass the man and run off into the lower floors, but before he could reach the climbdown at the edge of their current level, the announcer’s voice blared around once again.
“Ability activated: Sixshot”
