Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Holding the burning flare high, Liu QingHe waves her hand while looking at her surroundings. This place looks like a mountain foothill. She doesn’t know what is happening right now, her last memory is the voice of a doctor announcing her time of death. And suddenly here she is, holding a flare looking for someone to rescue her and her classmate. At first she thought that this is an afterlife, but feeling the pain all over her body, she was sure this is not an afterlife or dream at all. There is no way you will feel pain in the afterlife unless you went to hell and this place was way too beautiful for hell.

The flare kept sizzling and a thick smoke rose from it while red fire was spurted from the flare. She felt her hand almost fall off before she finally saw a few men in a black and red clothes running towards her location.

“LiHua came quickly, are there a few men coming in our direction?” She shouted excitedly.

Yang LiHua grabbed Liu QingHe’s backpack and her own before rushing towards Liu QingHe. Squinting her eyes, she saw there were indeed a few men wearing black and red clothes running towards their direction, there’s even some wearing white coats. 

“Yes, yes, there are people coming to rescue us! QingHe you are so great, now we are safe!” She said while holding onto Liu QingHe’s left hand.

“Ouch, ouch, ouch. Be gentle with me ah.” Liu QingHe said while laughing. 

After a while those few men and women stopped in front of them. The paramedics were checking on their injuries while police officers asked them a few questions. From the information that she got from the police officer, Liu QingHe finally found out what was happening.

Turns out, she was back to life or more specifically, she was alive as someone else who has the same name as her. They are both orphans but in this life had no relatives at all, unlike her previous life, she had an aunt who loved her dearly. Remembering her aunt, she felt her throat was blocked and she felt hard to breathe. 

The feeling of guilt and pain for leaving her aunt alone there with that painful memory of her death was eating her from the inside. Clenching onto her chest, she gasped for breath. The doctor saw her condition when she was treating Yang LiHua and hurriedly came to check on her. 

“Miss Liu, are you alright? Take a deep breath, let it out slowly. Right. Do it a few more times. Good. Do you feel better now?” The doctor said while checking on her pulses.

Nodding her head, she said, “I feel better, thank you doctor.”

“Miss Liu, we will do a full check up on you and your friend when we reach the hospital.” The doctor said with a smile.

“Alright, doctor. Thank you.” She said with a weak voice.

After dressing their injuries, the rescue team brought both Liu QingHe and Yang LiHua to the nearest hospital. Laying on the stretcher inside the ambulance, Liu QingHe closed her eyes and tried to arrange the information and memories that she had.

First, this world is not her previous world. It’s a similar modern world but with a very different history and future. Second, she was on the same day as her time of death, 21st june 2106. So, she could make a conclusion that she was reborn on a parallel world or transmigrated into another world. This body was her in this parallel world.

But strangely, she felt something was off in this world. It’s like this world is dying. Also, yesterday night she clearly saw her body turn into an animal with fluffy white furs. Yet, this morning she was a human. Was last night her dream? Throwing last night into the back of her mind, she dozed off to her dream land.

The next time she woke up, she found herself sleeping on a hospital bed. Looking at the ceiling, she chuckled. No matter in this life or the previous life, she always lay on the hospital bed. Since God gave her a second chance to live, she will live her life bravely. 

Creak..

Her room’s door was pushed open by a nurse. Pushing a trolley filled with trays of food, the nurse smiled at her and said while placing the tray of food on the table beside her bed, “Miss Liu, you wake up. Please wait a while for the doctor to check on you.” After saying those words, she left her room.

Reaching her hand to the side of her bed, Liu QingHe pressed on the button to raise her bed. Fixing her sitting position, she waited for the doctor to come. Looking outside the window, she was wondering how much money she has right now. Since she was an orphan, her money won’t be that much. Not to mention she is still a student and working full time is out of the question for her, so at most she could do some part time and the income from part time was not much.

While she was lost in her thoughts, the doctor walked into her room while saying, “Miss Liu, how are you feeling now?”

Turning her head, Liu QingHe said while smiling, “I feel much better, thank you.”

The doctor smiled back and checked her chart before saying, “Miss Liu, we found that you have asthma and a fracture bone on your right foot from the full body check up we did before. Besides that, you are in good health. You can discharge tomorrow.”

Liu QingHe nodded and said, “Thank you, doctor.”

She looked outside after the doctor left while making plans in her mind. She needs to check her bank account later and ‘her’ information in this world. She has no memories from her previous self at all, so she needs to find out about it by herself. 

She went to sleep after finishing her meal. Tomorrow she will go check her information when she is discharged from the hospital. For now, she needs to rest well and recover.

When she was deep in her sleep, her body’s DNA was changing. Her blood, cells, organs, and every part of her body started to mutate. White light appeared inside her brain before becoming brighter and brighter and suddenly a loud sound was heard inside her mind.

Bang!
