Youguang was eating and chatting with Wangyue when she heard a cry.
“Little Wangyue, did you hear anyone crying?”
The child listened carefully, then immediately got up and ran in the direction of a room.
Youguang followed him to the door of the room. The child was as anxious as a headless fly at the door. He looked really conflicted and distressed.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to open the door and take a look?” There was indeed someone crying in the room.
“But Mummy said no one could see Daddy.”
The man inside was crying very hard. Youguang was worried that something untoward would happen.
“Little Wangyue, people who need help are more important.”
She trusted the child’s intelligence and hoped that he could understand what she meant. Sure enough, the child calmed down and got a key from one of the rooms, and managed to open the door.
Once the door was opened, Youguang saw a fat young man sitting on the bed, wiping his tears and crying uncontrollably.
“Baby, boohoo… ,” The young man cried even louder upon seeing his son. “I’m hungry… .”
Youguang exhaled softly.
Fortunately, the man was only crying from hunger, and not for any other reason.
She looked at the child-like man in front of her, and finally understood why the boy never talked about his father in school. Whenever other children talked about their fathers, he was unexpectedly silent.
“Daddy, you only cry when you’re hungry, don’t you?”
“Yes,” the young man replied and stole a glance at the little girl beside him.
Youguang smiled at him, and he looked at her a little more boldly.
“Baby, is this your glowing classmate?”
Although the young man was slow-witted, he could remember what his wife said. His son’s classmate was coming to visit him.
The child paused and quickly corrected him. “Daddy, this is Classmate Youguang.”
“Yes, yes, a glowing classmate.” The young man smiled through his tears. He was so happy to see the glowing classmate.
“Uncle, I’m the glowing classmate.”
… .
When Liu Susu went upstairs again, she was greeted by the image of the last person she wanted to see. It was her idiot husband, who was eating with her son and the young lady of the Ning Family.
Her whole body went rigid. It took all of her willpower to suppress her fury. She walked over towards them.
“Wangyue, why did you let Ting Song out?”
“Mommy.” The kid flinched, a little nervous and scared.
“Susu.” The young man was also a little afraid and tried to put the cake away.
Youguang feigned ignorance and looked happily at the fruits in Liu Susu’s hands. “Auntie, did you bring us strawberries and cherries?”
“Do you like them?”

“Yes I do.”
The little girl smiled brightly. Her eyes were focused on the strawberries and cherries in Liu Susu’s hands. The latter roused herself and placed the fruits in front of Youguang—not without some enthusiasm.
“Then eat more.”
“Okay, thanks, Auntie.” Youguang picked up a strawberry and took a bite. “Auntie, did you tell my aunt that I am upstairs?”
“I did. She told you to have fun here. It’s almost time to have dinner downstairs. Are you going down?”
“I don’t want to go down for dinner anymore. Can Auntie bring up some meat and juice for me? I still want to play with Wangyue and Uncle here. Is that okay?”
Liu Susu actually wanted to bring her husband away as soon as possible, but it hadn’t been easy for her son to befriend someone like Miss Ning.
She thought for a moment, then said, “Let Wangyue play with you here. Uncle needs his afternoon nap. How about I send him to bed?”
“No, no. I just want to play with Uncle. Can I?”
The amount of food Liu Susu had brought was a little too much for two children, but with another grown man, there was simply not enough food to go around.
Youguang had wanted to stay here for a longer time. She asked Liu Susu to get more food so that Wangyue and his father could eat their fill.
Everyone was very busy downstairs. Other than Liu Susu, no one in the Shi family would care if the father and son went hungry.
Liu Susu reluctantly agreed and gave Wangyue another round of reminders.
After the Shi family banquet ended, Shi Jinrong and his wife made arrangements for their guests to visit the amusement park.
After everyone left, Liu Susu went upstairs with a dark look on her face. She locked her son and husband in a room and began reprimanding them.
“Wangyue, didn’t I tell you this morning not to let your classmates see your father? Why did you open the door and let him out?”
The child lowered his head and did not speak. The fat young man explained aggrievedly.
“Susu, it’s me. I got hungry.”
“Why are you hungry? All you do is eat all day. Are you a pig?” Liu Susu looked at her husband with disgust.
“Sister won’t mind and she won’t tell anyone,” the child explained in a small voice.
“A child like her says that she doesn’t mind and won’t tell anyone, and you take her words for it? Your father’s a fool. Are you a fool, too? How can you trust a child’s word? Besides, even if she doesn’t mind, how do you know her family won’t despise your father, who is a fool? Do you know what her family will think of me and you when they find out?”
Liu Susu thought about how Mrs. Xia had been gentle and polite to her just now. Then she imagined how Mrs. Xia would look at her with disdain or avoid her if she found out that she was married to a dimwitted husband. Pain and fear rose in Liu Susu’s heart uncontrollably.
All of this was caused by her son’s disobedience.
Initially, it was fine as long as that little girl did not see her husband. That way, she would not know that Wangyue had such a father. In the days to come, she would still be friends with her son.
But now she knows.
Liu Susu hysterically grabbed a rope from the cabinet in her son’s room and whipped it at the boy.
“How can you be so disobedient? Why are you so disobedient? Do you think it’s honorable to have a fool as your father? Do you crave for people to mock us?”
“Susu, don’t hit Baby. Baby is in pain.” The fat young man was very afraid, but he bravely hugged his son, who was motionless and taking the beating.
“Get out of here.” Liu Susu pulled at her husband, trying to push him aside. “I told you to hide, and you still want to come out. Is this silly look of yours pretty? Aren’t you embarrassed?”
“Yes, I look good. The glowing classmate likes me a lot,” the young man explained hurriedly. “She said that I’m cute and that I am the cutest father in the world. Susu, I didn’t embarrass myself.”
