After an evening of self-study sessions, Yao Jin said goodbye to her friends, and got into the car waiting for her in the usual parking spot.

The driver didn’t say anything and directly started the car when she got in.

Yao Jin understood that’s probably because Yao Wei wanted to see her tonight.

When she arrived home and entered the door, she changed out her slippers but paused as she spotted a pair of high-heeled shoes on the rack. This style…..it wasn’t something Yao Wei would wear.

Her expression turned cold.

Sure enough, as she entered the dining room, she saw Yao Wei and a strange woman sitting at the dining table. The dishes were already placed neatly on the table, with three sets of bowls and chopsticks set out.

“Yah, Jin-Jin is back? Just in time! Come and eat, we’ve been waiting for you~”

The strange woman looks young, only wearing a light-colored satin shirt and as she lets her long hair flow down her back. She looked both beautiful and intelligent, the type of girl that was quite in line with Yao Wei’s tastes.

Yao Jin’s lips raised as she looked at the strange woman who had greeted her in such a familiar manner even though this was the first time they have ever met. Her smile was cold as she said, “I’ve already eaten at school, so I won’t be disturbing you two.”

After she finished speaking, she glanced away and passed by the woman without a second glance and made her way to the stairs.

Yao Wei looked at her headstrong back, frowning as she squeezed the glass in her hand.

Yao Wei sat at the head of the table, a glass of boiled water in one hand. The sleeves on her black dress shirt is causally rolled up to her forearms. Her collar, however, is tightly buttoned up to the first button where her medium-length straight hair fell onto her shoulders. Under a silver-rimmed pair of glasses, a pair of peach blossom eyes looked on with a trace of displeasure.

Yao Wei is five years younger than Zhuang Yue, Yao Jin’s other mother. So when Yao Jin was born she was only 24. Although she is now well into her early 40s, her well-maintained youth made her look not a day over 30 years old.

“Jin-Jin, this is the first time you and your Auntie Qiong have met. Please mind your manners. She has specially cooked a lot of dishes in line with your tastes and we’ve been patiently waiting for you to start dinner. Come and have a simple meal with us.”

Yao Jin paused on the stairs. With one hand on the handrail, she burst out laughing at Yao Wei’s words.

When she turned around the coldness in her eyes had transformed into mocking sarcasm, “My tastes? I’m afraid President Yao doesn’t even know what kind of dishes I like?”

In the dining room that didn’t have any warmth to begin with, the atmosphere suddenly dropped below freezing.

Qiong Ran saw an argument was about to break out and hurriedly stepped forward to mediate.

“Oh, that’s right, I heard from Yao Wei that you like sweets. I bought some signature desserts from Shang Shi Xuan. I don’t know if you’ll like them, but let me grab some for you to eat…”

As she turned toward the kitchen, Yao Jin interrupted her impatiently, “I really liked sweets…when I was five or six years old. On this point President Yao deserves credit for remembering and she even brings it up to every person she meets. Still, you are the first person she brought over for dinner. Oh my, President Yao, have you finally decided to stop messing around with other women? Are you finally going to settle down?”

“Yao Jin! What are you even saying? You have been getting more and more outrageous….”

Yao Wei grew irritated at her words and no longer kept her composure as she slapped a palm onto the table.

Meanwhile, Yao Jin simply ignored her and turned towards her room on the second floor. As she stomped into her room she closed the door with a loud bang.

The soundproofing in this house is excellent, so when the door closed all other outside disturbances were silenced.

Yao Jin relaxed and collapsed onto her big bed. She stared up at the gorgeous chandelier hanging above her head in a daze.

After a long time, she moved her arms, only to find that she was still holding Jin Siming’s jacket in her right hand.

She laid on her side as she stared blankly at the white jacket in her hands and then she subconsciously leaned in and took a sniff as that empty feeling in her heart returned.

The familiar sweet scent comforted her, but unfortunately the scent was getting weaker and weaker by the minute.

A few seconds later, a charming pink blush blossomed across her pale cheeks and she hurriedly threw the jacket far away from her.

She shook her head and got up, stepping into bath slippers as she went into the bathroom to take a shower. After blow drying her hair, the clock read only half past nine.

She laid on her bed and started again at the ceiling above her head.

With nothing else to do, she picked up her phone and unlocked it.

There were many messages from many people but they were all superfluous conversations.

She has dabbled in many hobbies, from sports competitions to entertainment gossiping to gaming, all so she could have many conversations with many different friends. So she learned a little bit of everything, but she herself had no real interest in any of these things.

After swiping the screen a couple of times and replying to a few messages, she glanced at the time and saw that it was only ten o’clock.

She threw her phone to the side in frustration and got up and opened the drawer next to her bed.

She was still in her heat, so in order to prevent any accidents she had to inject a special suppressant into her skin every night.

After using the suppressant, she opened a small medicine bottle out of habit. She poured out a few pills into her hands, but then she suddenly remembered the doctor’s words. She paused and placed the medicine back into the bottle before setting it aside.

Her pills are no ordinary sleeping pills, but special ones prescribed by her private doctor. Whenever she felt bored or had her usual bout of insomnia she would take some to help her sleep. Usually a small amount will not cause any harmful side effects.

But in current condition, and after injecting her suppressant, she shouldn’t be taking other drugs.

So she had no other choice but to lie back down on her bed and quietly wait for time to pass. She counted down the seconds and hoped she could fall asleep soon.

After tossing and turning on the bed for a while, she closed her eyes and slowly stretched out her hand. She pulled the jacket she had thrown away over to her again, and held it lightly in her arms, her face flushing again at her actions.

“This is all your fault, Jin Siming.”

She whispered softly.

She had long detected that something was wrong with her mental state when she returned from the infirmary and had searched up the relevant information. Through her findings she was able to determine that her current state was due to a pheromone dependency. Although she is quite sure that no one had marked her, this situation still occurred. Then there was only possibly left……she had marked an Alpha.

“To be beaten by an omega despite having a physical advantage…Jin Siming, you are a little too weak, aren’t you?”

Yao Jin bit her bottom lip and held the jacket tightly in her arms as she muttered angrily.

Who knows how long her dependency on this scent will last. How troublesome….

Although she is not sure what happened in the infirmary, it was quite clear that she had taken the initiative to do something under the influence of her heat.

Knowing that her current state of mind is due to no one but herself, she understood that she should take responsibility……but isn’t Jin Siming a little too weak?

“Achoo!”

Jin Siming, who was currently shopping for groceries with her brother, sneezed suddenly.

She crossed her arms impatiently and hurried Jin Tong who was still picking over vegetables in the produce section, “Hey, can you hurry it up? It’s late and we’ve eaten dinner already, so what vegetables do you need to buy at this hour?”

Jin Tong held a shopping basket in one hand as he examined a vegetable in the other, “Tsk, we don’t have the vegetables I need in the kitchen at home so I can only come out and buy some. Yuck, why does all the produce here look so rotten?”

“Take a look at the clock, why would there be any fresh vegetables this late in the evening? Being able to buy anything at this hour is already good enough.” Jin Siming took out her phone in boredom and frowned at the time. Usually at this hour she would be lying on her bed playing video games after taking a relaxing shower, but right now she has to accompany her stinky brother to buy vegetables.

“Could the reason you’re coming out this late to buy groceries be because you want to personally make a special meal for your lover? If that’s the case then why did you drag me into this? You’re just forcing me to accompany you!”

“That’s a secret~ I’ll tell you when I’ve finished making the dish and then I’ll once again ask my great big sister for more help then~ Besides, it’s not like I wanted you to accompany me. Mom told me to bring you and get you to exercise after eating dinner.”

Jin Simign sighed and looked down at her phone and at the game invitations from Jian Xin and the others. She could only reluctantly decline them all.

“I’ve already told her that I ran two laps around the school’s track field. She must not have believed me….fine, just hurry up.”

After much urging from Jin Siming, Jin Tong finally chose his ingredients and the two paid the bill before returning home.

As soon as she entered the front door, Jin Siming dashed towards her room and threw herself onto the bed. She took out her mobile phone and entered Jian Xin’s custom game number and joined the game.

Just as the game finished, Jin Tong came knocking at her door again.

She got out of bed impatiently, “What’s the matter this time?”

Jin Tong stood by the door and said with a smile: “It’s getting late and it’ll take me so long to cook everything by myself. Big Sister, please come and help me. Things will be done faster that way~”

Jin Siming raised an eyebrow, “So you do enough common sense to understand how late it is? Yet you still want to cook by yourself at this time.”

“Aiya, my most beautiful, diligent, amazing, kind, and upstanding sister~ Please help your poor little brother~ If you help me I’ll tell you why I’m cooking.”

Jin Siming felt a chill go down her back at Jin Tong twisting his shoulders and acting so coquettishly with her, “I’m sorry, but I’m not particularly curious about why you suddenly want to cook so badly.”

After she finished speaking, she was about to close the door again when Jin Tong stopped her with one hand. He pushed back against the door with a grin, “If you help me, I’ll cover for you this weekend when Mom forces you to go out and exercise. How about it?”

Jin Siming’s eyes lit up. This condition was quite attractive to her. So she put down her phone and went into the kitchen with Jin Tong.

“Sis, help me peel the garlic and cut the ginger….”

Jin Siming grabbed the ingredients and asked, “What are you making?”

“Chicken soup.”

“Soup? You want to boil soup this late at night?”

Jin Siming glared at him.

“Yes, the chicken was specially prepared by the Auntie around noon and if we let it stew on a small fire for the night it will be perfect the next day~”

Jin Siming didn’t ask any more questions. After everything was finished, she clapped her hands and said, “There’s nothing else you want me to do, right? I’m going back to my room then. Also, you said you’ll cover for me this weekend, no take backs.”

“I know~ Since I’ve offered, I will definitely help you. But, sis, do you really not care about who this soup is for?”

Jin Simign really didn’t care, but seeing the smug look on his face she could only humor him, “Oh, I’m sooooo curious. Who did you cook this for?”

“Hehe, I’ve heard that my goddess Yao Jin passed out during gym class so I wanted to make her soup to nourish her body.”

“Huh?!!!”

Jin Siming shouted “I helped you for hours to cook this soup for her?”

She suddenly felt an urge to violently beat up Jin Tong.

“That’s right.” Jin Tong studied her animated reaction with a curious gaze, “Also, I want you to help me give it to her tomorrow.”

“No way!”

Jin Siming jumped up, and refused outright.

“Ah….why? I originally just wanted to quietly support her from the shadows but since you’ve refused….then I guess I’ll have to do it myself since you won’t help me.”

“You’re not allowed to do that either!”

Jin Tong: “????”

Jin Siming pursed her lips. She must stop his plans, “Don’t you know that giving soup to someone so suddenly will only cause her trouble?”

Jin Tong smiled, “And that’s why I wanted to send it in your name. Since you’re classmates, you must at least know each other.”

“You….” Jin Siming grew angry, “Why did Yao Jin become your goddess? Do you even know her? Do you even understand what kind of person she is?”

Jin Tong blinked innocently, “I just need to make an idealized version of her in my heart. Everyone in their youth idealizes their crush. Don’t you think it’s a waste of your youth if you don’t have one? Besides, there are no perfect people in this world and I don’t want to grow close to her. I only want to have a perfect pedestal to place her on in my heart.”

Jin Siming rolled her eyes, “Then do that instead. Don’t give her this soup.”

“No! I’ve been working on this for so long, so it’s a pity if it never gets sent out. Also, aren’t you two classmates? Just say it’s from you and you’re doing this as kindness between friends.”

“Which ordinary classmate expresses friendship with chicken soup? Besides, what will I do if misunderstandings arise due to me giving her the soup?”

It was getting late and Jin Siming was feeling sleepy. She really didn’t want to bother talking with him anymore and so she turned to walk out of the kitchen when Jin Tong grabbed her by the arm.

“This…you can also give it to someone else and have them deliver it. Otherwise, I would have done all this for nothing. Also, you promised to help me just now. If you go back on your word then I won’t cover for you this weekend.”

At this threat, Jin Siming turned her head and glared dangerously at him.

After a while, a bout of fatigue hit her and she yawned again. She just wanted to go to sleep already.

But she couldn’t get rid of Jin Tong who was clinging onto her arm. She was getting annoyed. Then she decided she could just have someone else deliver the soup tomorrow or she could secretly drink the soup herself. Jin Tong wouldn’t know either way.

With this thought in mind, Jin Siming raised her lips and smiled in agreement, “Fine, I’ll deliver it for you tomorrow.”

Seeing that she finally agreed, Jin Tong jumped happily before letting go of her.

Jin Siming breathed a sigh of relief, and quickly slipped back to her room before falling asleep with ease.
