Chapter Twenty Nine (Character Counts: 1404)

93

The more he tries to grasp the time, the faster it passes, and in the blink of an eye, only one week remains.

The Stand-in kept telling himself: I am a hard-working part-timer, and I don’t care about anything as long as I have money..

However, looking at the President, he appears to be becoming increasingly hesitant to part ways.

He was in a bad state. He once made a mistake in front of the old professor and received a reprimand.

The old professor said, “Do you want to kill me or not?”

The Stand-in bowed his head and was reprimanded, and the old professor exclaimed, “There’s no improvement at all! Originally, Z begged me for a few days to let you come. How can you be worthy of him with your current attitude?”

As the old professor said, he threw a few more letters on the table and let the Stand-in read them for himself.

All of these are handwritten letters from the President.

The President was never mentioned by the Old Professor before the Stand-in.

The Stand-in deduced from the letters that the Old Professor was the President’s uncle.

In the letter, the President humbly hoped that his uncle would accept the student and listed the Stand-in’s general qualifications.

The President wrote: “His family background is not good, but he has never given up and has been working hard to learn. I admire his spirit very much and hope he can get better. He can withstand any adversity, and he will undoubtedly be a student who makes you proud.”

The Stand-in didn’t know how he left school that day.

The last day.

In front of the Stand-in, there are two plane tickets, one purchased by the President and the other by the President’s mother.

In order to go out with him, the President is busy with work these days, and he even has to stay up late and work overtime tonight. He said that the two of them will meet directly at the airport tomorrow.

The Stand-in only found out about the news late at night, and he realized that the two of them had last said goodbye this morning.

Still haven’t said a proper goodbye yet. Why is this over?

The Stand-in sat for a while before deciding to leave now.

Suddenly the phone rang and it was actually White Moonlight who was calling.

“You guys are leaving tomorrow, right?” White Moonlight asked, adding, “There’s a surprise waiting for you there, so look forward to it.” The Stand-in inquired, “Are you going as well?”

White Moonlight said in disappointment: “Guessed it? I still want to surprise you.”

The Stand-in didn’t expect White Moonlight to go as well, and a sudden surge of hope rose in his heart.

If the President meets the White Moonlight there, perhaps old feelings can be rekindled, and the President will not be saddened by the parting… The Stand-in laughed at the thought.

“So happy at the thought of going outside for a long time?” White Moonlight smiled and said, “Z is the same as you. When he said that he was going out with you that day, his tone was different from before. It was the first time I saw him like that.”

White Moonlight added: “You have to be good together. He has lacked love since he was a child, but now someone can finally love him.”

When the President and the Stand-in were together, they almost never talked about their past. The Stand-in always imagined that he grew up in a wealthy family and should have had a happy childhood.

He couldn’t help but ask, though it was none of his business how the President would behave in the future.

“What’s the matter with him?”

“You didn’t know?” White Moonlight was surprised. “Alright, he probably doesn’t want to talk about it… I shouldn’t say anything about it, but it’s probably best if you know.”

In the end, White Moonlight said it.

The President’s father and mother are in a business marriage. They aren’t particularly fond of each other and are frequently squabbling. They eventually divorced when he was in elementary school and he followed his father.

And his father was abusive.

It was the dark side of a wealthy family that no one could control, none of the family’s servants dared to speak up, and he was forbidden from contacting his mother.

Even on the day of his mother’s visit, he would be dressed neatly, with all his scars hidden beneath his clothes.

It wasn’t until high school that he was able to fight back and eventually escape. It was then that White Moonlight took him in for a few days and encouraged him to go to his mother’s place, putting an end to those dark days.

Unfortunately, his mother is also a person who is not good at expressing herself, and is strict, and he doesn’t receive compensation at his mother’s place.

“Are you crying?” White Moonlight was embarrassed, “I regret telling you.”

“I’m not crying.” The Stand-in whispered.

“It’s a good thing you’re not crying; he’s dying of happiness that you like him, and that he’s finally found someone who will love him.”

After the call ended, the Stand-in couldn’t help crying.

He never cries, nothing can bring a hardworking part-timer to tears.

Nonetheless, he cried.

He had no idea the President had such an experience, and the dream of being a puppy was so genuine and humble.

He admitted that he really liked the President.

Is he, however, capable of bringing happiness to the President?
