Yan Qiu turned his head around and saw Ji Xinglan emanating an extremely displeased aura while walking towards them.
‘That’s hostile, if I’ve ever seen one.’ Yan Qiu gulped.
He and Xie Yu were laying on top of each other and Ji Xinglan caught them red-handed. Yan Qiu knew in his heart that things were going to take a turn for the worse and he quickly yanked Xie Yu up to his feet.
Xie Yu still looked baffled. He had one arm around Yan Qiu’s shoulder and the other on his sprained waist. He moaned and spoke while remaining ignorant of the whole situation.
“I’m almost not going to be able to hold you anymore.”
“Let’s do it next time, my waist hurts today.”
And other such nonsense.
He failed to notice that there was someone standing five meters away, staring at him as if he were already dead.
Yan Qiu felt his skin crawl. He didn’t dare to look at Ji Xinglan’s expression any longer. He was worried that if Ji Xinglan and Xie Yu met face to face, things would go horribly wrong. So, in panic, he brought out his school card from his pocket and stuffed it into Xie Yu’s hands.
“I’m a little thirsty. Go to the supermarket and buy me some water, will you?” Yan Qiu quickly found an excuse to send Xie Yu away so that no one will end up dying.
If Ji Xinglan went absolutely bonkers, a normal person would not be able to handle him.
“ ‘Kay.” Xie Yu said dumbly. He got up and rubbed his ribs, which were aching due to the impact. When Yan Qiu pushed him gently, he obediently and stupidly ran to the tuck shop by the side of the field.
Although he was unable to see Ji Xinglan, he suddenly felt a chill down his spine and he shuddered. He couldn’t help but rub his arms to keep warm.
Ji Xinglan watched Xie Yu leave and he stopped moving. He simply stood with his hands in his pockets at a spot not too far behind Yan Qiu, as if he was waiting for Yan Qiu to go over to give him an explanation.
‘I’m trapped between a rock and a hard place…’ It was only then that Yan Qiu had time to think about his own safely.
He had been rolling around the ground with Xie Yu and based on Ji Xinglan’s perspective, this was incredibly suspicious.
The first time Yan Qiu had Xie Yu’s scent on him, he could still offer an explanation, but this was the second time, and they ended on top of each other. Yan Qiu was caught “cheating” red-handed, and Ji Xinglan would definitely not believe him.
The worst problem was that Ji Xinglan knew that Xie Yu was Yan Qiu’s lackey.
Since Ji Xinglan found Yan Qiu to be an eyesore, it was definite that he would find Xie Yu an eyesore in his sleep. Yan Qiu was therefore doubly guilty!
For a period of time, Yan Qiu couldn’t quite figure out the complicated relationship between the three of them. He sneakily turned his head to walk away with a hand on the wall, pretending that he was playing with his terminal seriously.
Based on the density of the pheromones coming from behind him, Ji Xinglan, who had been cheated on, must be angry.
Yan Qiu thought. ‘Nope. Gotta run.’
While he prayed that Ji Xinglan would keep his promise and not cause him trouble in the school, he sneakily aimed the glass of his terminal toward Ji Xinglan, making sure that it reflected him.
However, just right as he took two steps forward, Yan Qiu felt a powerful wave of pheromones crash into him.
His legs immediately weakened and he nearly knelt down. He could only use his hand to brace himself against the wall before he managed to stand firmly on two feet.
‘This is bad. The suppression this time is a little different from the past few times.’
It had to be known that an alpha’s pheromones could not just suppress an omega. If it were used well, it could also achieve certain incredible effects.
Yan Qiu instantly felt sweat trickle down his skin.
By the looks of it, Ji Xinglan really wanted to teach him a lesson this time.
Yan Qiu instinctively tugged the collar of his shirt and looked up with a confused expression, just in time to feel a thick wave of alpha pheromones envelop him. Then, someone hugged him from the back and pushed him against the wall.
Yan Qiu felt something soft brush against the tip of his ear, and when he turned his head, Ji Xinglan had already seized his wrists, hugging him tightly from behind him.
Ji Xinglan showed no expression on his face. His profound gaze was still fixed intently at the direction where Xie Yu left. The arm around Yan Qiu tightened.
Yan Qiu heard his voice brush softly against his ears. It was cold and there was a teasing but ruthless tone in it.
“You like the puppy type, do you?”
“……”
His voice sounded as if it was soaked through by jealousy, but Yan Qiu could not hear it, because he was straight.
Yan Qiu had always been protective of those close to him. He absolutely could not tolerate anyone scolding his lackey, and in his anger, he rebutted, “You’re the puppy! Your entire family are puppies!”
‘Who cares whether he’s talking about wolf cubs or puppies, they’re all canines. What right did Ji Xinglan have to call someone else a dog?!’
Ji Xinglan quietly used his finger to caress Yan Qiu’s smooth cheek, and he snickered.
“You’re so cute… Who exactly told you that it’s a good idea to scold yourself when you’re scolding someone else?”
Now that he mentioned it, Yan Qiu suddenly remembered something, and he felt his face heat up so much that he could probably fry an egg on his face. “I’m… I’m not part of your family.”
Yan Qiu had his wrist seized by Ji Xinglan and he was lifted off his feet while he was pinned against the wall. He was fully enveloped by the alpha’s scent, and he could vaguely sense the powerful heartbeat from Ji Xinglan’s chest.
This caused his throat to become dry. The imposing aura he had when he defeated a group of alphas at the field just now was already gone.
In such a passive position, Yan Qiu was easily held. He couldn’t kick or hit him. He did not even have the strength to ram his elbow into Ji Xinglan.
Ji Xinglan watched as the fair ears of the person in his arms quickly turned red, and he couldn’t help but chuckle a little. He even decided to be incorrigible and placed his chin on Yan Qiu’s shoulder.
Since he was an alpha, he didn’t have to do anything else. He just needed to release his pheromones for Yan Qiu, and Yan Qiu would desire him on his own. Then he would willingly allow Ji Xinglan to take him and mark him so that he would become an omega belonging only to him.
However, unless it was absolutely necessary, Ji Xinglan didn’t want to force him. Yet when he saw Yan Qiu getting close and intimate with someone else just now, he became genuinely upset.
When he saw the little thing in his arms turning into jelly because of his pheromones, Ji Xinglan smiled a little.
Truly, he was so silly that he was adorable.
Yan Qiu had practically wasted all nineteen years of his life. He didn’t have any experience with relationships. After being teased a bit by Ji Xinglan, he was nearly unable to hold back. His face was strangely red, and the image of his entire face turning red made him look pitiful and adorable.
Yan Qiu could sense how strange he had become and he knew that Ji Xinglan had used pheromones on him again. He lowered his head, not daring to look at Ji Xinglan. He could only stare at the ground while he gulped nervously, and he pleaded, “Ji Xinglan, stop fooling around. We can go home and—”
Suddenly, his mouth was covered by a hand that reached forward from behind him. He was instantly unable to make any noise.
Yan Qiu widened his eyes and he felt incredibly humiliated. Nevertheless, he didn’t know why Ji Xinglan was acting this way, and neither was he able to show his anger to the person behind him.
He struggled vigorously for a while, but under the alpha’s suppression, it was like trying to break a stone with an egg.
Just when he was about to stop resisting, he suddenly heard people talking and laughing in the lane beside them.
A few students who had just had their fill in playing basketball were walking towards them while chatting up a storm.
When Yan Qiu heard this, his tense muscles relaxed. It seemed Ji Xinglan didn’t intend to kill him to silence him.
Ji Xinglan could also feel that he was no longer blindly struggling, so he released him.
This part of the wall might be inconspicuous, but there weren’t many things blocking them from view. If any passerby looked closely, they might see them at any time.
Yan Qiu didn’t know whether there was anyone who knew him in the crowd. He watched the group vanish into the distance, his heart caught in his throat. Then, he immediately turned his head around, protesting to Ji Xinglan, “That scared me. Could you not talk to me in this sort of place?”
“Sure. Then let’s settle things in another place.” Ji Xinglan quirked an eyebrow. He was still angry. There was no way things would have ended just like that.
He seized Yan Qiu’s thin wrist and dragged him away from the way. He brought him straight into the washroom beside the football field.
Yan Qiu was shocked.
An empty washroom was the perfect place to “punish” someone!
Ji Xinglan dragged Yan Qiu into the washroom by the hand. Then, with a bang, he locked the door from the inside.
Yan Qiu was picked up and placed on a basin, sitting on it with his legs forced apart.
During the entire process, his eyes were fixed on the locked door. With much difficulty, he managed to recall a pitiful amount of general biology and he understood why Ji Xinglan was able to suppress him so much.
The situation between them should be because their pheromones were far too compatible, which was something that was said to only happen in legends.
His pheromones were really compatible with Ji Xinglan’s, which was why Ji Xinglan had such a huge effect on him, regardless of whether it was in terms of his emotions or his physiological reactions. Ji Xinglan’s pheromones could calm him down and could also make him even more excited.
If their compatibility rate was high, it also meant that if they were bonded, they could give birth to more good alphas or omegas.
‘Bah, who would want to give birth to his baby?’ Yan Qiu thought.
Ji Xinglan didn’t know what the person in his arms was thinking to the point that his face was turning red and pale.
He drew closer, as if he was displeased with Yan Qiu, ignoring him. Then, he bent down and, like a cat asking for attention, he placed his head on his shoulder.
Yan Qiu sensed his soft hair rubbing against his neck and felt it was incredibly itchy. He couldn’t help but straighten his neck and tilt his head backwards so as to stay further away from him.
The ticklish feeling did not last long. Soon, it quickly disappeared as Ji Xinglan moved his head away after just a few moments.
A little while later, Yan Qiu suddenly sensed a strange sensation at his nape. Ji Xinglan’s warm fingers were touching the back of his neck.
The collar around Yan Qiu’s was an ingenious piece of work. It only barely managed to cover the scent gland at his nape. Ji Xinglan used his hand to repeatedly caress the area around the collar. He didn’t use a lot of strength, and it felt like a brush against his skin.
Even if Ji Xinglan failed to touch his scent gland directly because of the inhibition collar on Yan Qiu’s neck blocking him, the high number of nerves around the neck seemed to be just as sensitive as his scent gland. It caused him to shiver.
Yan Qiu tried his best to lean his head against the wall in order to protect his nape.
However, even though logic was telling him to flee as soon as possible, his mind had immediately become excited after it sensed the alpha’s pheromones.
“Ji Xinglan, stop fooling around, will you?” He didn’t know what sort of mess was going to come about if this continued. Yan Qiu was so anxious that his voice trembled, and he sounded incredibly pitiful. “You told me that you wouldn’t bite me.”
Ji Xinglan’s pheromone-filled breath landed on his nape, but he did nothing else besides this.
“What are you thinking about? I’m not biting you?” There was amusement in Ji Xinglan’s voice, and Yan Qiu felt like it had just tickled his heart.
When he heard this, Yan Qiu finally broke free of his panic. After he calmed down gradually, he felt that this act of begging Ji Xinglan to stop just now was too embarrassing.
Ji Xinglan was clearly just toying with him!
Yan Qiu turned his head around in exasperation. He was about to start yelling at Ji Xinglan, when he suddenly felt a warmth on his lips. His breathing was instantly blocked by something very soft.
“I’m not biting you. Just let me have a taste,” Ji Xinglan said. He drew closer and kissed Yan Qiu, catching him completely off guard.
The kiss came too suddenly. At that moment, not a single thought could be detected in Yan Qiu’s head. He felt absolutely baffled, his mind completely blank.
He only felt the softness on his lips, feeling as if he had just sunk into cotton. His legs were numb and he nearly sank to his knees.

Yet, that was how humans were. When they were in inappropriate places, such as this one, they would become more easily excited. In fact, Yan Qiu found himself a little excited when he was caught in a situation where he might be discovered at any moment.
‘I sure am a pervert.’ Yan Qiu thought. He seemed to have been affected by Ji Xinglan.
Meanwhile, Ji Xinglan was also reluctant to let him go. He had finally managed to get a taste, there was no way he would let Yan Qiu go so easily.
The fusion of their pheromones caused them to feel a little short of breath. Yan Qiu’s cheeks gained an unnatural shade of red due to a lack of oxygen. His gaze also started to become a little unfocused.
In his daze, he even forgot to close his eyes. He just widened them and stared at the person in front of him, which meant that he saw a blurry figure because of their close proximity.
It was only at that moment that he realized that he was not actually thinking about how to get away from Ji Xinglan, but was worried about what he should do if they were discovered.
Yan Qiu didn’t have any experience in love and he had no reference that he could use. Nevertheless, he felt that Ji Xinglan’s skills were strangely good. His kiss was comfortable, and it made Yan Qiu subconsciously open his mouth. The increasingly thick scent that was refreshingly cold enveloped him, and he soon lacked the energy to even breathe.
‘This is definitely not the first time he’s done this.’ This was what Yan Qiu thought while his mind remained a mess.
But he seldom heard of rumors involving Ji Xinglan and someone else. If there were, it would soon spread through the entire school.
For some reason, Yan Qiu remembered the school princess whom he once tried to woo. She had been very close to Ji Xinglan.
He wondered whether something happened between them while he was gone, and whether Ji Xinglan had treated her as he did to him.
As he thought of this, anger burned within Yan Qiu’s heart for reasons he didn’t understand. It was like a spark had fallen on dried grass. The angry spark made a crackle and started burning brightly.
He didn’t know to whom his anger was directed toward, whether it was the school princess who rejected him, or Ji Xinglan.
Ji Xinglan didn’t like him, so why was he doing this to him? To toy with him?
When he thought of this, Yan Qiu felt a bit dispirited, and he broke the kiss resolutely. In his anger, he bit Ji Xinglan’s lip as a form of resistance. It wasn’t strong enough to draw blood, but neither was it a gentle nip.
Ji Xinglan knew that he was unhappy, so he released him reluctantly, and as he was about to let him go, gave him a nuzzle.
Right after being released, Yan Qiu immediately used the back of his hand to wipe his lips. His beautiful eyes were misty.
Yan Qiu didn’t know what he was thinking. He stood with his hands on the basin, because it was the only way for him to remain firmly on his feet. His moist red lips opened and closed for a moment before he asked while panting, “…Is this your first kiss?”
Ji Xinglan didn’t expect that he would ask this. He remained silent for a while before replying truthfully. “…No.”
Even though Yan Qiu guessed it long ago, when he heard the answer, he didn’t know why, but he just felt a little displeased.
He sighed.
That displeasure was definitely because this was his first kiss, but it wasn’t Ji Xinglan’s! It’s unfair!
Yan Qiu thought gloomily. But the kiss was really comfortable. Still, it’s definitely because Ji Xinglan’s skills were really good! It’s not because he harbored any thoughts that he should not have towards that stupid rascal!

Xie Yu held a bag full of iced coke and went around the entire field, but couldn’t find Yan Qiu. He was so anxious that he looked like an ant being fried in a pan.
He asked a few people about whether they had seen Yan Qiu, worried that Jin Zhao and his gang might have come back to cause trouble for his boss because they felt that they had been humiliated. Right when he was anxious enough to break out in a cold sweat, he saw Yan Qiu and Ji Xinglan walk out of the washroom, one behind the other.
Yan Qiu had just washed his face to reduce the heat on his face, but his cheeks were still a little red. Xie Yu saw Yan Qiu use the back of his hand to wipe off the water on his fringe. Right when he was about to call him, he suddenly sensed an unusual alpha’s scent behind Yan Qiu.
Xie Yu cast his gaze toward the person behind Yan Qiu. When he saw Ji Xinglan, Xie Yu’s hand froze — he had been in the process of greeting Yan Qiu. He widened his eyes and stared at the long legged military student and he immediately appeared as if he were facing a powerful enemy.
‘This is bad. Jin Zhao might have left, but there’s Ji Xinglan to deal with now.
‘These people all bear grudges toward my boss. They seldom run into each other, so how in the world did all of them gather in one place today?’
‘The worst is definitely Ji Xinglan. Even if I work together with the boss, we still can’t win.
Xie Yu looked around the area. He only found a nearly bald and dust-covered broom in the corner of the wall. That was the only thing that could be treated as a weapon.
Xie Yu thought about it. How high were his chances of success if he picked up the broom and used the handle to smack Ji Xinglan? Would he be able to send Ji Xinglan sprawling to the ground in one strike? And would he be able to grab his boss, turn tail, and run?
Yet, before Xie Yu was in time to implement his plan, Ji Xinglan walked out of the washroom quietly and left, as if this had nothing to do with him.
Xie Yu sighed in relief. He put down the bald broom and quickly rushed to Qiu Yan to check him. “Boss, are you alright?!”
As he spoke, Xie Yu glared fiercely at Ji Xinglan’s back.
Yan Qiu’s lips were slightly swollen, and they were also very moist. The redness at the tips of his ears had not faded away just yet, making his fair face look incredibly pretty.
“What could have possibly happened to me?” he asked with a shifty look.
Even though Yan Qiu said those words, his heart was still racing at an abnormal speed. His blood circulation had sped up. When he walked, he felt as if he was floating, like walking on clouds.
Ji Xinglan wasn’t far away. Yan Qiu was worried that when he turned his head around, he would see him walking with Xie Yu again and cause trouble for him later. Thus, he quickly pulled Xie Yu and went to the field so that he could avoid him.
Xie Yu was dragged along and while he walked, he sniffed. He asked curiously, “Hey, Boss, why are you covered in an alpha’s pheromones…? What the heck?! Did Ji Xinglan do something to you?!”
When he saw Xie Yu suddenly becoming nervous, Yan Qiu touched his slightly numb lips and said with a wry smile, “Heh, what could he do to me? If anyone’s teaching someone a lesson, it’s me teaching him a lesson. Nothing happened. I just accidentally ran into him in the washroom just now. He didn’t manage to recognize me.”
‘That’s true too. Ji Xinglan shouldn’t make life difficult for an omega.’
Xie Yu became at ease. He stared at Yan Qiu, and he started with his blind, solo worship of Yan Qiu with sparkles in his eyes.
“When I see that bastard Ji Xinglan, I get so angry. Say, why does he act so cocky? Does he think he’s really awesome just because he’s a military school student? Boss, why didn’t you go to a military school? You’d definitely be even more awesome than that Ji Xinglan!”
Yan Qiu felt as if he was on cloud nine because of Xie Yu’s words.
Over the past few days, his entire ego, that had deflated because of Ji Xinglan, came back with just a few words from Xie Yu.
Xie Yu truly understood him. This was his best friend forever.
Yan Qiu wanted to go along those lines and boast about himself a little, but before he could boast about himself, he suddenly remembered something, and he shut up.
As an alpha, Yan Qiu was the same as thousands of boys. He had once dreamed about entering military school to protect and honor the country.
With Yan Qiu’s past physical strength, it wouldn’t have been a problem for him to pass the physical test for the military school. However, he failed at academics and he was eliminated in the first round of the test, which included the written portion.
Now that Yan Qiu had turned into an omega, his chances of getting into a military school fell straight to zero.
This caused Yan Qiu to find that life was a little unfair.
‘Damn it, if I had to transmigrate into someone else’s body, why didn’t whoever did this let me transmigrate into Ji Xinglan’s body so that I can fulfill my dream as a military school student with a huge dick?’

The sun during noon was a bit dazzling. Xie Yu retrieved a bottle of Coke from the plastic bag for Yan Qiu. Yan Qiu removed the cap and drank from it.
Xie Yu took one bottle for himself and he gave the remaining ones in the bag to Da Long and the others, who were doing push ups by the field. Yan Qiu walked forward, absent-mindedly thinking about going to a shady spot by the podium to sit for a while, but suddenly, he heard Xie Yu making a fuss by asking him, “Huh? Boss, why is your lip torn?”
Yan Qiu was stunned. He instinctively licked his lip and immediately tasted a faint, rusty taste on the tip of his tongue. His swollen lips were hurting a little as well. He immediately scowled and cursed.
‘The heck? Ji Xinglan, are you a dog or what? Now I have a split lip because of you.’
Xie Yu stared at him with a complicated and puzzled expression. Yan Qiu couldn’t embarrass himself in front of his friends, so he licked the blood on his lips without batting an eyelid, and commented as he walked, “Haha, the weather during autumn is so dry. I should buy lip balm.”
All those who were experienced could tell that his lips were not cracked because it was dry, but because someone had bit down on them. But Xie Yu was easy to fool. In a very sensible manner, he brought out a lip balm and gave it to Yan Qiu.
Yan Qiu didn’t even have the time to disdain Xie Yu for being a sissy anymore. He gracefully took Xie Yu’s offering in order to get out of the situation.
He opened the cap and leaned close to it to sniff it. A barely noticeable look of scorn suddenly appeared in his eyes.
‘What the hell? It’s even strawberry flavored. Why is an alpha like Xie Yu using that?’
At that moment, the tower speaker by the field began to ring, signalling the end of class.
“On second thought, I won’t be using it.” Yan Qiu wiped the corners of his lips with the back of his hand. He tossed the lip balm back to Xie Yu. “Let’s go eat.”
*****
Da Long and the others had just finished doing push-ups and they were sweaty. It was so hot for them that they removed their school jackets, wearing only hurdle vests. The perfect rise and fall of their sturdy, bronze-colored muscles gave off a feeling of strength that only male alphas would have. Patches of sweat could be seen on their vests, giving off the charm of a man.
That was what you would call a real man!
Yan Qiu was incredibly envious. He was also 170cm tall right now, but when he walked together with them, he looked distinctly shorter.
The school canteens were pretty far away from the sports field, positioned diagonally at the two ends of the school.
Yan Qiu knew that the headmaster was still bringing Ji Xinglan on a tour around the school. They might even go to the school canteen for lunch.
However, the headmaster wouldn’t eat at the students’ canteen. The staff canteen and the students’ canteen were separate. Teachers had their meals on the second floor, while the students all ate on the first floor.
Yan Qiu might not need to worry about feeling awkward if he ran into the headmaster and Ji Xinglan at the canteen, but he still felt rather diffident when he walked with other alphas. On the way to the canteen, he worried that Ji Xinglan would suddenly appear around the corner and catch him red-handed.
However, he didn’t run into Ji Xinglan. Instead, plenty of other students noticed them while they were on the way to the canteen, and they kept pointing fingers at his group.
But they could not be blamed for it. Yan Qiu was an omega and he was walking with four alphas. It was very difficult for him to not capture other people’s attention.
He discreetly increased his walking speed and widened his distance from the others by three meters.
His lackeys knew that their boss had currently turned into an omega and they didn’t mind it. To them, their boss was still their boss, but now, they could no longer readily swing their arms over his shoulder or fool around with him.
When Yan Qiu kept his distance from them, they, too, in a display of great sensibility, did not ask him why he did that.

Once they passed through the teaching building and most of the school, they finally entered the canteen. By then, the canteen was already filled with people.
There was a long queue lined up at the window to place their orders, and the dining tables were all occupied. There was practically no space to sit down.
Yan Qiu was already hungry to begin with. When he saw a food show playing on the small TV hanging on a pillar in the canteen, he became even hungrier.
He cast a glance at the endless line in front of the window where the students to place their orders, and fell silent.

Yan Qiu and his group might be school bullies in name, but they were good, cultured school bullies. They never did things like bullying boys and girls, and they never attacked students in the school. They just occasionally fought against the bullies who weren’t from their class or their school.
As cultured school bullies, they respected the elderly and loved the young. Sometimes, they would even help grandmas cross the road. When they went out to eat, they also wouldn’t cut in line.
Yan Qiu looked at the long line and sighed. He placed his hand over his stomach and stood at the end of the line.
The queue moved incredibly slow. Every time the person at the very front of the line walked away with his or her food, Yan Qiu couldn’t help but take a look to see what was tasty on the menu.
To divert his attention, he could only bring out his terminal to play.
And he was just in time to see the message Ji Xinglan had sent to him.
[Ji Xinglan: Have you eaten?]
[Yan Qiu: No. I’m ordering my food at the canteen.]
[Ji Xinglan: Come upstairs to eat with me.]
Yan Qiu frowned. ‘Does he think he’s the emperor? Why does he need someone to accompany him while he eats and liven things up for him?’ But Yan Qiu was so hungry that his stomach was growling, and he really wanted to go to eat ready-made food. Nevertheless, when he saw his lackeys behind him, he suppressed the urge to go upstairs.
He already promised them that he would treat them to a meal today, and it wouldn’t do for him to just cast aside his brothers and eat on his own.
[Not going.] Yan Qiu pressed down on the reply icon.
Yan Qiu had originally said that he would treat Xie Yu and his group to a meal, but when he checked the remaining balance in his school card with his terminal, he suddenly discovered, to his embarrassment, that there were only five bucks remaining in his card.
Perhaps he could only treat his brothers to rice and some free seaweed soup with dried shrimps.
Xie Yu, too, saw that Yan Qiu did not have any money in his card, and he saw how embarrassed he felt. He discreetly offered him a way out of this situation. “Use my card today. Let’s go and search for a place to sit.”
*****
Da Long and the rest lined up, ordered their food, and got their orders. Yan Qiu and Xie Yu walked out of the queue and walked around the dining hall in search of a place to sit.
Xie Yu might not be able to compare to Ji Xinglan, but he was pretty rich. However, Yan Qiu couldn’t keep spending his friend’s money. He had to think of a way to earn some money for himself.
Besides, once he divorced Ji Xinglan in the future, he needed money to survive. Yan Qiu didn’t want to take Ji Xinglan’s money at all.
They walked around the dining hall, but were unable to find any seats. In the end, they walked to a spot near the entrance.
There was a unique table at the entrance. The other tables in the dining hall were long, rectangular tables that were placed in neat, horizontal lines, but the table at the entrance was placed perpendicular to the other tables. Last time, this was the spot reserved for Yan Qiu and his gang. Even if there was no one around, the other students wouldn’t take the table.
But now, there were some people sitting there. Chen Gou and his lackeys were sitting there.
Yan Qiu didn’t want to cause trouble. He tugged at Xie Yu’s sleeve and wanted to leave, but Chen Gou had already seen them. He scowled, making his thick eyebrows scrunch up. He put down his chopsticks and stood up and glared at them like he was making an “Erkang”.
He even stretched out his hand.
“Wait!”
Yan Qiu was shocked. Then, he saw the frown fading away from Chen Gou’s face. During that time,a stiff smile appeared on his face. He spoke to Yan Qiu attentively, “Xiao Qiu, come sit here!”
Seeing the way he was acting, Yan Qiu shuddered and wanted to refuse, but didn’t shy away in the end. He dragged Xie Yu over and sat down
It would be a waste to not sit there.
It had been half a year since Yan Qiu’s death. They finally seized back their lovely, reserved seat for lunch!
Chen Gou chased away his lackeys and emptied some space for Yan Qiu and Xie Yu.
However, Yan Qiu was unwilling to sit down. “It’s fine. I have a few other friends. This table isn’t large enough for us.”
“Of course it can accomodate all of you,” Chen Gou said, in the true fashion of a brown noser. He gulped down his food, shoving it down as quickly as a hurricane sweeping through a lane. Then, he picked up his plate and left.
Before he left, he even turned his head around to wink at Yan Qiu with his left eye, which had a scar left by a knife on it.
“Xiao Qiu, enjoy your food. Come earlier next time. I’ll pay for you food~”
Yan Qiu watched his broad back and found himself speechless.
His conflict with Chen Gou was extremely complicated. They had fought countless times, but the conflict was still unresolved. But all of a sudden, the problem was gone.
So, it was actually this easy to achieve world peace. He should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize next year.
*****
Yan Qiu and the other four ordered more than ten dishes. Even though they were served on the small plates used by the school canteen, there was quite a lot in each plate.
They had just finished their PE class, so all of them quickly divided the food and finished eating.
While they were on their way back to the school building, Yan Qiu quietly pulled Xie Yu to the side and spoke to him about something he’d been thinking about for a long time.
“Do you know… where I was buried?”
Yan Qiu wanted to take a look at his grave in the cemetery.
He still found it hard to believe everything that had happened over the past few days. If he didn’t see his tombstone with his own eyes, it would definitely continue to linger in his head.
But Xie Yu found this matter a little scary when he thought about it. He was worried that Yan Qiu would feel uneasy if he saw his own grave, so he tried to stop him. “I’ve seen it a few times before. It’s nothing special. I don’t think you should go.”
Classes at noon were all self-study periods.
Yan Qiu thought, ‘If I don’t do this today, it’ll be difficult to get another chance.’
Since Yan Qiu insisted on taking a look, Xie Yu could do nothing about it. Nevertheless, he was worried about letting Yan Qiu go alone, and so he suggested going together.
That afternoon, Yan Qiu made up an excuse and took sick leave from Sun Mang, saying that he was going back to his dorm to rest. As for Xie Yu, he skipped class by saying that he was going to train with the basketball team.
Yan Qiu still suffered from severe acrophobia and didn’t dare jump over the wall. Both of them ran out of the school through the main gate when the guard wasn’t paying attention.
Seeing two familiar figures, the guard was shocked. “Hey! Aren’t you two the ones who stole the headmaster’s takeout?! Wait! Stay where you are!”

Based on Xie Yu’s words, the cemetery was at the northern outskirts of town. If they took a taxi over, they would need to travel for around one hour before they arrived.
Yan Qiu looked outside the window. Since he was afraid of scaring the driver, he did his best to lower his voice when he spoke to Xie Yu, “Were you the one who handled my funeral?”
Yan Qiu thought that he should be the one, but Xie Yu shook his head.
“…That day, when I received the call saying that you were in an accident, I immediately rushed to the hospital. But when I got there with my parents, the doctors said that you were already… Ahem. They said that there was no longer any hope for you. Someone had already made arrangements for your funeral and we couldn’t go into your ward since someone had already transferred you to a VIP room. I could only stand outside, and I heard someone crying loudly. We only managed to learn where you were buried later.”
Xie Yu’s voice grew softer the more he spoke, as if he was apologizing for not being able to arrive on time. Yan Qiu placed his hand on Xie Yu’s shoulder to comfort him. “It’s fine. I know that you had good intentions.”
Once Yan Qiu was done comforting Xie Yu, he found himself puzzled.
Aside from his friends, he didn’t have any other relatives. Just who could have helped him with his funeral?
*****
The cemetery was located in a mountain in the outskirts to the north of the city. This region was suitable for anyone to live in. Yan Qiu didn’t see any villages along the way and it made the area look a tad desolate.
Once they paid, Yan Qiu and Xie Yu got off the taxi. Yan Qiu used his hand to cover his eyes.
The sun during the afternoon was incredibly hot. It was so bright that he found himself a bit dazed, so much so that he didn’t find the idea of checking out his own grave at the cemetery to be that terrifying.
They walked through the gate of the cemetery and walked up the winding path. They occasionally ran into a few people with black umbrellas over their heads.
Once they walked down a slope through a small trail, they found a large area of black graves arranged neatly in front of them. They looked as if they had been copy pasted, because all of them were practically the same.
The gap between the graves was a little narrow. Yan Qiu carefully maneuvered his way through, worried that he would kick the pots in front of someone else’s grave. He searched for his grave based on the numbers.
He stopped in front of his own grave.
Yan Qiu’s name was written on the black grave, but there was no picture on it. There was a bouquet of fresh marguerites in front of his grave. They were in full blossom.
Yan Qiu stared at the bouquet quietly and he suddenly found it a little strange.
Once a person died, he would be reduced to the ashes that were stuffed into a small urn before being buried. Then, a cold tombstone would be placed over it and the entire process would be considered done.
All the longing and pain of those remaining would fade away as time passed. One person was now missing from the world, but the bouquet that bloomed in the direction of the sun remained as beautiful as ever.
“Did you place those flowers there?” Yan Qiu looked at the flowers in front of the grave. They were very fresh.
Xie Yu shook his head. “No. But the flowers in the pot next to it are from me.”
Yan Qiu cast a glance at the chrysanthemums placed in the crude-looking pot and found himself speechless.
An old man sat by the side while fanning himself with a thin fan. He had an old straw hat by his feet. He was examining a game on a Go board. By the looks of it, he was the gravekeeper.
When he heard their conversation, the old man said without even looking up, “Someone paid us to place those flowers there. We get the freshest flowers and switch them every morning.”
Yan Qiu frowned in puzzlement. He asked, “May I ask who asked you to place those flowers there?”
The old man continued moving the pieces on his Go board. “The deceased’s relatives, I guess. He comes by every weekend.”
But Yan Qiu did not have any relatives. His curiosity was gnawing at him, yet even if he racked his brains, he hadn’t a clue who it was.
As he stared at the white marguerites, Yan Qiu suddenly thought of an incredibly absurd possibility.
The flowers were the same as the ones in Ji Xinglan’s study.
Could it be… Ji Xinglan?
Yan Qiu frowned.
He remembered that on the day he came back, Ji Xinglan had indeed said that he went to the cemetery to visit his grave.
But no matter how Yan Qiu thought about it, he still resolutely cast that absurd guess behind him.
He and Ji Xinglan weren’t so close to each other that he would keep him in his mind all day long. It would be more accurate to say that Ji Xinglan wanted to hit him.
However, there was no way Yan Qiu could shake off Ji Xinglan during the weekend to come here and wait to see if he could figure just who was putting flowers at his grave, so he could only let this matter slide.
Perhaps it was an omega who had a crush on him and didn’t dare to confess to him.
They stood at the cemetery quietly, just like that. Then, Xie Yu suddenly turned around and hugged Yan Qiu.
Yan Qiu could feel his body shuddering lightly, and he guessed that he was crying again. Just as he expected, when Xie Yu looked up, his eyes were red. “Boss, thank goodness you came back.”
When he saw his red-rimmed eyes, at that moment, Yan Qiu felt as if someone had just tugged at his heartstrings violently.
That’s right.
Who cares if he is an alpha or omega? He will continue living properly in his new identity.

While they were on their way back, Xie Yu couldn’t stop crying.
The taxi driver picked them up at the entrance of the cemetery, and he could guess why a boy like him was crying, so in pity, he sighed and handed him a piece of tissue paper.
But the driver could never have guessed that Xie Yu was not crying because his friend died, but because his deceased friend was still alive. He was crying out of joy.
When they returned to the school, there were still ten minutes left for the last class.
The security guard had neglected his duties during the afternoon and allowed two students to slip past him. Therefore, at this time, he held a baton and stood at the entrance with a stern expression, no longer daring to slack off in his duties.
Yan Qiu didn’t go in. He had Xie Yu jump over the wall and bring his bag to him.
While he waited at the wall, Yan Qiu received a message from Ji Xinglan, who asked him to wait for him at the parking lot after school ended.
[Yan Qiu: Alright.]
Once Yan Qiu replied, he put his terminal in his pocket.
Half a minute later, the bell signalling the end of a school day rang. Then came the rush hour that always occurred when students departed school during the evening of a Friday.
The students continued surging out of the entrance of the gate. Xie Yu walked out with the crowd and handed Yan Qiu his bag while panting. Then, he bade farewell to Yan Qiu before he went to take the public bus across the road.
The military school ended ten minutes later than a regular school.
Yan Qiu walked to the spot where Ji Xinglan parked his car and played with his terminal while he leaned against the car door. After waiting for a while, he saw Ji Xinglan walk out.
Ji Xinglan naturally opened the door for Yan Qiu and had him get in.
Yan Qiu sized him up quietly. When he saw that the other shouldn’t have noticed anything abnormal, he felt his heart relax.
The car was filled with the smell of a car air freshener, the speakers playing classical music. Yan Qiu didn’t like listening to it, so he put in his earphones and looked outside the window.
While they were on their way back home, he remembered that he was supposed to stay in school.
He had already delayed this for a week. If he didn’t mention this to Ji Xinglan, Ji Xinglan might forget.
Yet, when Yan Qiu turned his head around and told Ji Xinglan that he wanted to stay in school starting from next week, he could sense that Ji Xinglan didn’t seem very willing to let him do so.
Ji Xinglan frowned. “Isn’t it better staying at home?”
It was impossible for Yan Qiu to stay at the omegas’ dorm, and Ji Xinglan wouldn’t let him stay at the alphas’ dorm.
However, Yan Qiu acted shamelessly and said, “But the house is too far away from the school. I waste too much time getting up so early in the morning and going to school by car. I want to sleep.”
Yan Qiu snuck a glance at Ji Xinglan. When he saw that he had denied making any comments regarding the matter, he followed up his argument by saying, “Besides, I’m pregnant. I should be sleeping more.”
Being pregnant is a powerful card. He would use it whenever it is useful.
When he heard him say this, Ji Xinglan relented as well. He didn’t deny his request right off but asked him, “Do you prefer staying with the omegas in a dorm instead?”
The underlying meaning in Ji Xinglan’s words was him asking Yan Qiu whether he, as an alpha, was not as attractive to Yan Qiu as the other omegas. When he received this reminder, Yan Qiu changed his train of thought. He could stay in neither the alphas or omegas’ dormitories.
But Yan Qiu was determined to leave. Ji Xinglan’s mansion was too big. He couldn’t get used to it no matter what.
“Then I’ll rent a house beside the school,” Yan Qiu suggested.
Ji Xinglan thought about it and said, “There’s no need for that. I have an apartment over there.”
Yan Qiu looked in the direction that he pointed at, and he saw a high-rise apartment near the school.
Yan Qiu thought happily. ‘I get to save money, then.’
But when he heard Ji Xinglan mention that he wouldn’t want to stay at home either, Yan Qiu’s expression instantly fell.
‘Oh, dear lord. Are you seriously telling me I still can’t escape from cohabiting with Ji Xinglan?’
Ji Xinglan, too, had his own plans.
One, he wanted to let Yan Qiu sleep longer in the morning. Two, he did not want to stay at home either.
Ever since that matter half a year ago, his mother was worried about his mental state, so she always asked his butler to monitor him, whether in secret or in a very blatant fashion.
Even though they did it out of kindness, it still caused him to be rather uncomfortable.
As luck would have it, since Yan Qiu mentioned this matter, they could move out with this well-reasoned argument.
As for Yan Qiu…
Ji Xinglan cast the teenager on the passenger seat a glance, and a faint smile was formed on his lips.
He wouldn’t let Yan Qiu leave him.
*****
When they returned home, Yan Qiu noticed that Mrs. Ji had already arrived.
Once he opened the door, Mrs. Ji received them with great hospitality. She gave Yan Qiu a bear hug and kissed his cheeks, leaving behind two red kiss marks on his cheeks.
“You’re back, my sweetheart! Are you hungry? Put down your bag and come have dinner!”
Ji Xinglan entered the door behind Yan Qiu. He greeted his mother and removed Yan Qiu’s bag before placing it on the sofa in passing.
The central air-conditioning was turned on in the house. The interior and exterior of the house had two completely different temperatures.
Yan Qiu felt a little hot, so he removed his jacket and placed it on the armrest of the sofa before rolling up his sleeves. He then entered the dining hall with Mrs. Ji.
Mrs. Ji’s excitement over their engagement had yet to fade away. She kept on talking about her arrangements of their wedding with Yan Qiu at the dining table.
Since Mrs. Ji was an elder, it would be impolite for Yan Qiu to be a wet blanket towards her enthusiasm. He could only lower his head shyly and drink a mouthful of soup. With a voice even softer than the wind, he said, “Mom, we’re still studying.”
When she heard this, Mrs. Ji hummed.
They were both students. Naturally, studying was more important. But it had just been two months since this semester started. School holidays would only arrive next winter.
Mrs. Ji felt a little impatient, but she compromised with a slightly regretful tone. “Then we’ll wait until the holidays next year. You’ll be just in time to go on your honeymoon too…”
As she spoke, Mrs. Ji began to imagine how their honeymoon should play out, and Yan Qiu nearly spat out his tea while he listened to her.
At the side, Ji Xinglan handed a napkin to him. Yan Qiu wiped his mouth.
Mrs. Ji finished her salad and used a napkin to wipe her mouth. She picked up her handbag retrieved from it, a small box that she handed to Yan Qiu. “This is my gift to you. Divine powers have already been imbued in it.”
Yan Qiu took it dumbly. Warning bells started ringing in his head.
He opened it and took a look. His lips twitched.
In the box was an incredibly high-quality jade pendant, and carved on it was the Guanyin of Fertility.
Yan Qiu blushed. He quietly shut the lid and threw the box to Ji Xinglan. As for himself, he focused on eating.
Mrs. Ji saw that he was being shy, and she comforted him, “I’m not asking you to get pregnant. You’re still young. If he dares to do anything to you, I’ll hit him. I gave birth to Xinglan too early in my life, and… Sigh.”
Mrs. Ji seemed to have remembered something. A hint of sadness appeared on her face, but that expression was soon hidden away. “Xinglan’s father is really busy recently, but he was very happy after he learned about your wedding as well. He said that he’ll come and visit you both after some time.”
Yan Qiu sized up the expressionless Ji Xinglan.
He had been here for many days, but he had only ever seen Mrs. Ji. He didn’t know what Ji Xinglan’s father was like.
Sensing Yan Qiu’s inquisitive glance, Ji Xinglan explained to him nonchalantly, “I seldom meet my father. They were divorced when I was three.”
“Oh.” Yan Qiu stopped pursuing the matter.
Usually, when changes happened to a child’s family, the child would be rather affected, but when this was mentioned, Ji Xinglan remained calm. He didn’t have much of a reaction.
Ji Xinglan ate slowly and put down his cutlery once he was done. He looked at Mrs. Ji and said, “Mom, Xiao Qiu and I want to move to the apartment next to school next week. The house is too far away from the school, and it’s very easy for us to be late if traffic is bad. We’ll be closer to the school if we stay at the apartment, and Xiao Qiu wants to sleep a little longer.”
“But…”
Mrs. Ji originally wanted to object to it, but when she heard the final sentence, she hesitated. She looked at Yan Qiu, and Yan Qiu immediately put on an exhausted look. She pursed her lips and finally agreed.
“Well, you’ve always loved sleeping. Staying closer to the school might be better.”
Yan Qiu originally thought that his conversation with Mrs. Ji that day would come to an end after they finished their meal.
However, when Ji Xinglan went upstairs to the study, Mrs. Ji suddenly grasped Yan Qiu’s arm.
Her gaze was trained on Ji Xinglan as he walked upstairs. When the sound of his footsteps faded away, she lowered her voice and whispered to Yan Qiu, “My dear, please don’t blame me for nagging you. If you want to move out with Xinglan, please pay more attention to him. You absolutely must not let him do anything dangerous.”
Mrs. Ji’s expression was a little melancholic. “I believe that he’s no longer dwelling so much on those negative emotions ever since he had you, or else, I would never agree to you moving out. But we still need to pay attention. If anything happens, just tell me.”
Yan Qiu thought that Mrs. Ji wanted to say something, since she was acting so mysteriously. He didn’t expect that she was only worried for her own son.
Yan Qiu didn’t agree to her statement. Ji Xinglan was already grown up, and he was even a male alpha. Why was his mother treating him like a giant baby who couldn’t take care of himself?
When he saw how worried Mrs. Ji was, Yan Qiu merely thought that she was pampering her son, so he agreed to it.
*****
It was night. Yan Qiu stood in the bathroom in his room but no matter how he fiddled with the tap, no hot water came out. Regardless of which direction he turned the tap, only cold water came out.
Yan Qiu wrapped himself in a towel and went outside to ask the butler. The butler checked it, but he couldn’t figure out what went wrong with it either.
“Strange, the switch and the heater are both turned on…”
They discussed the matter in the corridor. Yan Qiu’s legs trembled a little because it was cold and he had nothing covering them. Suddenly, the door to the room beside them suddenly opened.
“What’s wrong?” Ji Xinglan was dressed in a bathrobe while he stood by the doorframe.
“Young Master,” the butler said respectfully. “Young Master Xiao Qiu’s heater is broken. I’m going to have someone repair it.”
Ji Xinglan cast a glance at Yan Qiu. His eyes moved from up to down, sweeping past his long neck and the towel he had wrapped around his body. In the end, his gaze landed on his smooth and straight legs.
“It’s late. You don’t have to go through so much trouble.” Ji Xinglan’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and he said to Yan Qiu in a profound manner, “Have him come to my room to bathe.”
Mogumoguchan: Geez, Mrs. Ji, chill with the kids, will ya?! And what in the world are you thinking of doing, Ji Xinglan?
Neirith: Yan Qiu thinks that he’s pregnant but is also upset that it wasn’t Ji Xinglan’s first kiss. Well excuuuuuuse me, Yan Qiu, but how do you think kids are made? Also, maybe you shouldn’t be upset about the kiss but… something else?
