Ch84 - Why Are You Sneaking Around?

On this day, Yan Qiu quickly finished his dinner and went into the room to carry out his mysterious knitting project.

After Ji Xinglan finished washing the dishes, he went into the study to work. With no one bothering him, Yan Qiu could have some quiet time to himself.

He silently locked the door and found the tutorial video on his terminal then picked up the two long knitting needles and started fiddling around while learning how to knit the scarf.

Yan Qiu had lived for nineteen years, but this was the first time he tried something like this. He was someone who wouldn’t even join the omegas when they kicked shuttlecocks or jump-roped during PE. He also found it embarrassing to ask the girls how he should knit scarves, so he could only hide and watch videos to learn.

Yan Qiu originally wanted to ask Bai Yuanyuan, but not only did Bai Yuanyuan not know how, she was even shocked and asked him whether he was doing it for Ji Xinglan.

Yan Qiu was worried that she would let slip what he was doing, so he denied it vehemently. Otherwise, not only would Ji Xinglan know, all the netizens in school would know about it.

Ji Xinglan was a rather picky person, so Yan Qiu deliberately chose black yarn. One of the reasons was because it was easier to match black with other colors, and the other reason was because even if he screwed up, it wouldn’t look too terrible.

However, knitting was something that looked easy but actually very difficult. Yan Qiu felt that he was someone with a movement disorder and an underdeveloped brain. No matter how he moved the knitting needles, they just looked awkward. All his fingers had their own thoughts and refused to listen to him!

After working for half an hour, Yan Qiu finally managed to make one thin line.

When it came to knitting, scarves were the most basic project for beginners. They just needed to knit a long piece of fabric, and there was no need for any complicated patterns. There was no need for him to learn any complicated embroidery techniques either.

But this repetitive and boring action was already enough to make Yan Qiu feel troubled. Why was it necessary for him to do this himself? Why couldn’t he just use a machine?

But to show his sincerity and for Ji Xinglan’s dignity, Yan Qiu could only grit his teeth and personally knit that scarf.

He felt that he was a knitting machine with no feelings. Aloofly, he tied knots, hooked the yarn, made another knot, and hooked the yarn again.

This was really troubling for Yan Qiu. He felt that he had already knitted the scarf for a whole century, but the small bit of achievement in his hands just kept reminding him that this was not enough, and he had to knit for much longer.

Knitting itself already made Yan Qiu feel really troubled, but he had to do it while keeping Ji Xinglan in the dark, so that made the process even slower.

Yan Qiu took advantage of all the time he could find to knit the scarf. When he went to bathe, he knit a little. When he went to the toilet, he knit a little. When the lights were off in the living room and they were watching TV, it was dark, and Ji Xinglan could not see, so he also knit a little.

While Yan Qiu was knitting, he sighed.

He didn’t hit Ji Xinglan despite this, so he must really love him.

To find time to knit the scarf, Yan Qiu even insisted on not letting Ji Xinglan sleep with him. He locked the door every day at seven or eight in the evening, and he didn’t let Ji Xinglan have the chance to act shamelessly with him.

Every night, when Ji Xinglan came out of the study and wanted to do the deed with Yan Qiu, the cold door was already shut in front of him.

It was firmly locked, stood cold, and mercilessly stopped him from going in.

There was still light spilling out of the frame. Clearly, Yan Qiu was not sleeping yet, but there was no sound from within.

He was hiding in the bedroom alone, and the light was on despite the fact that it was so late. No one knew what he was doing inside.

Ji Xinglan’s eyes darkened. He gently stuck the key in the keyhole and turned it silently before pushing the door open.

The bedside lamp provided light for Yan Qiu, and he was currently knitting in boredom on the bed. While knitting, he yawned and watched a variety show to spend time.

He saw the door suddenly being pushed open through his peripheral vision, and he shuddered in fear. He had clearly locked the door!

When he saw that the person was Ji Xinglan and not some ghost or someone here to rob the apartment, the heart that had leapt to his throat settled back down. He quickly stuffed the knitting needles and yarn under the blanket and pretended that he was watching his terminal.

Ji Xinglan calmly walked over and walked around the room under Yan Qiu’s wary gaze. Suddenly, he opened the closet. Then, he looked under the bed. He even drew the curtains.

“What are you looking for?” Yan Qiu could not help but ask.

“There’s no one around?” he mumbled, and he sounded like he was trying to catch Yan Qiu cheating. Ji Xinglan then walked to Yan Qiu’s bed.

“Wh-What are you going?”

When Ji Xinglan wanted to pull the blanket back, Yan Qiu glared at him warily and even intentionally sneezed.

The hand that had gone to pull his blanket back stopped, and Ji Xinglan immediately gave up. He instead went to tuck Yan Qiu properly under the blankets.

“Why aren’t you sleeping when it’s so late? Why were you sneaking around? What were you doing?” Ji Xinglan drew closer, and his shadow instantly covered Yan Qiu.

Yan Qiu huddled under the blanket and discreetly stuffed the yarn under the pillow to prevent Yan Qiu from discovering anything when he lifted the blanket later.

“You’re the one sneaking around. Why did you suddenly come in?” he forced himself to say.

“I couldn’t sleep.” Ji Xinglan sat down on the bed. The orange light above him dyed his eyelashes a layer of gold, making his gaze look much gentler.

“Sleeping on the couch is really tiring,” Ji Xinglan placed his head on Yan Qiu’s shoulder and said shamelessly.

Yan Qiu cast him a glance, but did not push him away. He only pursed his lips. “You asked for it.”

“Didn’t you say that I was to sleep on the floor?” Ji Xinglan continued shamelessly, “Can’t I sleep on the floor?”

“No.” Yan Qiu rejected with righteous indignation. “Who knows whether you’ll sneak into bed.”

Ji Xinglan said with a stern countenance, “I’m not a person like that. Since I said that I will sleep on the floor, then I will sleep on the floor. At most, I will drag you under my blankets and make you sleep with me on the floor.”

Yan Qiu remembered what he woke up to on the couch that day, and he felt his temples throb. He did not feel happy about it.

“Are you sick in the head? There’s a bed, why would you sleep on the floor?” When Yan Qiu saw that he could not win against him in the argument and that the yarn he stuffed under his pillow might be discovered at any moment, he sent Ji Xinglan away first. “Tsk, fine. It’s late. Go… and bathe.

“You can sleep in the bed today, but you can only lay down on it. You can’t move around.” Yan Qiu looked down and added shyly. “Otherwise, you’re sleeping on the couch again.”

With this threat, Ji Xinglan did indeed not dare to act rashly. Yan Qiu turned off the lights and soon fell asleep under the comfort of the familiar pheromones.

……

The next morning, Yan Qiu gave up on sleeping in. He got up at five o’clock in the morning and knitted a little before he decided to go back to sleep.

Once Ji Xinglan woke up, he would pretend that nothing happened and he woke up with him.

But Ji Xinglan was much more alert than Yan Qiu anticipated.

When he opened the drawer to bring out the yarn, Ji Xinglan’s eyelashes fluttered, showing signs that he was about to wake up.

The moment he saw that the situation was not right, Yan Qiu quickly tossed the yarn on the floor before he could even open the drawer. Then, he heard a familiar voice ask, “What are you doing?”

He turned his head around, and he did indeed see Ji Xinglan open his eyes. Yan Qiu was worried that he would see the yarn, so he quickly changed the topic to attract his attention.

He endured his humiliation and nuzzled in Ji Xinglan’s arms. “It’s nothing.”

Since he just got up, his voice was still a little soft, and when he practically delivered himself into Ji Xinglan’s arms, Ji Xinglan was stunned.

After he was given the cold shoulder, it had been days since he could hold Yan Qiu. In an instant, he was so excited that he didn’t know what he should do. It felt like he had been offered free lunch while he was walking on the street, and he had no idea where he should put his hands.

Yan Qiu gritted his teeth. Since he had already offered himself, he might as well give it his all. He hugged Ji Xinglan tightly, and it worked. Ji Xinglan could not be bothered with what he just threw on the floor. He just kissed him deeply and eagerly.

And since he offered himself up so early in the morning, Yan Qiu learned exactly what it meant to bring trouble to himself.

……

Heat filled the room. Yan Qiu lifted his numb elbows and used all his strength to push away the man who refused to get up from his body.

Yan Qiu sat up while supporting his sore waist and grabbed a pillow to throw at Ji Xinglan’s face. Then, he grabbed the yarn and hid it in the bedside drawer.

The satiated alpha laid in content beside him and caressed Yan Qiu’s smooth back.

Ji Xinglan’s shirt was wide open. His hair was a mess on the bed, and he smiled at him happily. The moment he did, Yan Qiu’s face turned red, and he turned his face away in embarrassment.

He looked at the morning sun outside the window, and Yan Qiu sat on the bed while hugging his knees. Tired, he rubbed his eyes and sighed, then felt the hand touching his back.

To prevent Ji Xinglan from discovering what he was doing, he actually betrayed his body and soul.

He sacrificed too much for that stupid scarf.

Ji Xinglan kissed him lazily and finally got out of bed to change his clothes.

When he went over to draw the curtains, he suddenly grabbed something from the tea table before asking Yan Qiu, “What is this?”

Yan Qiu looked over, and he saw that Ji Xinglan was holding the bag that once contained the yarn. He had thrown it on the couch.

Xie Yu gave it to him, and it was a bag with the shop name for maternity and infant items.

When Ji Xinglan saw that Yan Qiu wasn’t saying anything, he stared at the bag. Yan Qiu had no idea what sort of complicated thoughts were going on in his mind, but he stared at it with a complicated expression for a long time before he finally looked up and stared at Yan Qiu.

After some time, he asked a question, and it cut through the silence like a sharp blade. “When?”

Yan Qiu didn’t understand and just replied with a, “Huh?”

Ji Xinglan furled his fingers, and he twisted the thin bag into a ball. He moved in front of Yan Qiu to demand an answer. “I’m saying, when did you get pregnant?”

“…”

Judging by his stance, Yan Qiu knew that he misunderstood. In an instant, he was nearly unable to contain his laughter. “When have I ever been pregnant?”

But when Ji Xinglan remembered how Yan Qiu had been avoiding him over the past few days, he became even more puzzled. “Then, what is this?”

But Yan Qiu couldn’t tell him the truth, so he could only tell him the other truth. “I got the bag from Xie Yu.”

Ji Xinglan became even more puzzled. “When did Xie Yu get a child?”

“What the heck?” Yan Qiu said angrily, “He put something else in the bag for me.”

“Oh, is that so…? What’s in there?” Ji Xinglan acted like he seemed to have understood something, and he stared into Yan Qiu’s eyes while asking him seriously.

He found the blind spot accurately, and Yan Qiu decided to act shamelessly and not answer him. “What’s the point of you butting your nose into my business? They’re reference books, does it bother you?”

Yan Qiu turned around and ignored him as he started changing his clothes.

Ji Xinglan stared at his thin back and the lines, then reached out to touch him. He clicked his tongue and started mumbling, “Logically speaking, we’ve slept together so many times, it doesn’t make sense that you’re not pregnant yet…”

“Doesn’t make sense, my foot.” Yan Qiu felt angry and slapped his hand away before quickly dressing up. “It’s impossible!”
