"Today had started as a normal day. Well.. normal for Hunter, a few minutes of training inside his house, slightly opening his windows to see if there were people staking out his house, making a cup of homemade latte, and eating breakfast.
Afterwards he simply went back to his bedroom and easily lifted his mattress to reveal his extensive assortment of guns since there were people outside. Headhunters heads needed to be shot, in the middle of nowhere law does not apply, so more corpses were going to be buried in his backyard.
BANG
"Apparently their patience has run out." Hunter quickly picked a pistol that he knew would be in working order, and his 22LR. He simply knew he would not have time to put more than a vest, so he did. He once again looked outside his blinds, the lights were off so his position would not be revealed.
1, 2, 3... there were 5 of them, even then Hunter noted 7 to 8 people, since most groups would come in those numbers. He took aim, not at the closest one, but the one at the back, confidence in his aim drove him into this decision. Also the guy at the back was barely moving, so getting a clear shot was better. Hunter would not admit that though. Bang, A cloud of dust came upwards in cheer of the newest sacrifice, and then silence... for about 5 to 10 seconds as that was the time it took for the group of the fallen to look back, because after that there was screaming, one of them was loud enough to wake up Cthulhu from his slee-- BANG, and then he also fell, since he wasn't moving.
The rest quickly started running, incorrectly towards the house and the front door stumbling in their feet, Hunter took that as an opportunity to run towards his front door himself, and pointed his pistol to the door and just waited for them to open it, his breathing was hurting his chest, to quick, he realized, his breath was totally disorganized like the amateur group after him. "they might actually be after me with only 5 people." he thought, as he readied his finger, and relaxed his breathing, time seemed to slow down, and nothing existed but the door in front of him, the hinges started to stretch, deforming under the new sudden force, Hunter could not hear the sound as he closed all other senses but sight, the feeling of sweat was forgotten, and then he could see the head of his enemy, quickly shooting 3 times the helmet cracked, then broke, and then brain matter.
The door was still falling, when another head was revealed, he once again shot 3 times, though this time the recipient was rude and did not receive the package, getting it delivered to his friend. Hunter saw the shining glint of a gun being lifted, he immediately took cover by ducking right to the kitchen, hurriedly grabbing the closest chair and throwing it towards the unsuspecting visitor, who had his head bashed in by the chair's leg that simply went through his eye, the last guy on the group with a crack on his helmet was brave... for about 5 seconds as Hunter shot his helmet again breaking it in the process, the guy threw his gun away and immediately knelt on the floor, arms held high and head down like a turtle.
Hunter was baffled, almost all of these types of guys that came after him went on until their death. Scoffing at the guy faking fear he readied his pistol and pulled the-- Cold, the metal cold feeling of the end of a barrel was pressed to the back of his head, the guy kneeling on the ground was grinning. the man behind Hunter and they were the real team... the other guys were probably 'hired' through blackmail, that was why they seemed stupid, Hunter sighed as this seemed to be the end for him, though, he had one last trick to try, BANG--BANG, Hunter had not lowered the gun, so shooting the guy in front of him while trying to dodge the man at his back was a given, the shot went through Hunter's ear drawing a lot of blood after the impromptu piercing hole was created, his hand shot up to his ear to stop the bleeding, but the man was already prepared to take another shot.
The reapers blade was once again at his neck, though this time there was no leeway to run, the gun had already been fired, at least the finger had already been pressed, there wasn't much movement he could do, dodging left, no, the guy he had shot fell there, dropping low, no, he was already half crouching, he had dodged down right that first shot, maybe bolt forwards? Hunter in a split second jumped forwards from his position and tackled the man, down to the ground, the shot went on a spree to give him a haircut with a bit of blood, with a gun in one hand he hurriedly took 5 shots at the man's head. Dead, very much dead.
Hunter after a few minutes on the ground heaving, got up from the ground uttered. "Man, once again." So he went to the sink, to get a few utensils, he could deal with the corpses later, laying his gun on the counter he started to make lunch.
A few minutes later he was with a plate of food going to the PC at his living room, and got to read his web-novels, the one thing that made it bearable to stay here in the middle of nowhere.
He relaxed as he ate, this last chapter was smaller then normal, but he had made a mistake, a single glint of glass was visible through a window the man had opened a little, a bullet came through, all Hunter could do was shift his head a little, the bullet still went through, This was the unceremonious end of Hunter, true name not given, influenced into breaking the structure of various governments."
The mist cloud in front of me narrated the last day of my life, I was pretty sure I was dead at this moment, the mist cloud was extremely accurate to the events that had happened, though I certainly do not agree that I took that first shot just because it was the easiest, I wanted them to rush to my house. Well I could think of some people that would take time accepting their death so easily.
"So... What now?" I could not think that every dead person would get a one on one conversation with the reaper? whatever this is... Unsurprisingly there was something.
"Now, now you have a choice, one, your memories are erased, your soul thrown back to the stream to be born somewhere, some-when next. Or option two, become an agent." The mist talked in their wobbly voice.
