We were sitting by the fire, chewing on skewers of boar meat. The cold atmosphere of the forest at night created an environment that was both unsettling and exciting. We were in an open space surrounded by large trees whose tops could barely be seen in the darkness. Sitting on the wet grass, I enjoyed the softness of the flames and warmed my body. I started to think that maybe I wasn't made for cold places.
"You look like you have been doing this your whole life."
"That is indeed the case. I learned to fend for myself about your age." Orion replied as he shoved large chunks into his mouth. His jaw contorted frighteningly. 'Did he have a secret hatred for boars ? Man you've already killed him. Can you at least eat his meat properly ?..."
The contrast between the way he ate and Lyanna's was huge. She looked at me and made hand signals.
"Lyanna asked if you had always lived alone?"
"I lived with my family until I was twelve but things happened. Anyway what's going on with your sister? " he asked, putting some bones aside.
I sighed and explained that she had a rare disease, without going into too much detail. It was a clear lie but Orion didn't pry into it. Now that the introductions are made, I could finally ask the question that I had on my mind.
"By the way, how can we learn to use spiritual energy?" I muttered after finishing my meal.
"Right to the business uh? Using spiritual energy is commonly called myndo. The better your mastery of myndo, the more your spiritual energy will take on a form that is unique to you." Orion answered.
He picked up a piece of wood and began to draw on the ground.
"Every living creature can sense the spiritual energy in our world. But only those with the Almoran's seal can use it. Monsters are a special category. To manipulate spiritual energy, you must first be able to accumulate it in your body through the seal. Then you will feel vessels forming from the seal into your bodies. These vessels will allow the spiritual energy to flow through you. It usually takes a few weeks to complete it. But once done, it becomes instinctive. " he explained in a remarkably well-done diagram.
The Almoran seal
However, things were suddenly much more complicated.
"Is there another method? " I asked as soon as Orion finished his explanation.
"Another method? Why another method?"
Orion was surprised by the question.
"Just to know all the options."
He held his chin and scratched his beard for a moment as he thought. I couldn't tell him that we didn't even have seals on our chests.
"There is a second method that involves forcing spiritual energy into the body. I heard it's not very effective,"
"We'll try that one."
I replied instantly.
"Huh? Rinne, is that your name? Kid, I told you that this method..."
"We'll try this one." I said, cutting him off.
"Hoy kid, the old man asked me to teach you and..."
"And we'll do it the way it suits us."
"Hoy, stop cutting me off..."
"No, I'll keep going. Take it or leave it."
A huge vein appeared on Orion's forehead. He showed his fangs again. 'He really should learn to express his anger differently.'
"Why do you want to use so much the second method ?" Orion asked annoyed by the situation.
But I didn't answer. Lyanna and I stared at him, our eyes full of determination.
"Annoying brats, what are you doing with your eyes ?.....Arghhhh well, if the old man asks why you're shitty in myndo, I'll say it's your fault."
"Fine. Can we start now? "
"What do you mean now? We've got a long way to go."

"We just want to see how it's done. So please..."
Orion stared at us in turn and sighed before standing up. His right hand found itself surrounded by a greenish aura.
"Who's first?" he asked.
I stood up and faced him.
"How is this supposed to work?"
"Frankly, I have no idea. All I know is that I have to push the energy into your body."
"I see. Okay do it."
"..."
Orion gave me a hesitant look before placing his hand on my chest.
"Ughh"
I felt as if a thousand needles had shot through my chest in an instant. Something slowly pushed its way into my body. A feeling of heaviness and nausea came over me as if my chest weighed a ton. The sensation was strange, almost disgusting. My body was like a water jar filled to the brim with spiritual energy. The energy began to concentrate in one place in my body, right at my heart, which seemed to have doubled in size. I fell helplessly to my knees, clutching my chest. 'What the hell is that ?'
I could feel every part of my body. A flurry of information was transmitted to my mind as if a pattern was being drawn before my eyes.
"Hey kid, are you all right?" asked Orion, leaning over to me.
"Boom" "Boom" "Boom" "Boom"
My heartbeat echoed loudly in my head. My breath became short and my mind foggy. I began to take deep breaths.
"huff huff "
Somehow, my heart rate calmed down.
"Hey kid, can you hear me? " Orion asked again as he tried to pull his hand away but I caught it on the spot.
"Keep going," I replied to him as my face broke out in a sweat.
"Hey brat, I don't know what you're trying to do but it's about time you learned to act like a kid ."
"Acting like a kid ? You want me to run around and give you a big goofy smile ? Lyanna and I planned our father's death from start to finish. So don't give me that crap. We know what we want and we're doing ."
My answer earned me a curious and intense look from Orion. Sensing that the situation was getting out of hand, Lyanna got up and stood right next to me. She began to tap her chest to say that she too wanted to receive the spiritual energy. But Orion was still hesitant.
"Here is my proposal: 10 minutes a day. It's what we're asking for now. We categorically refuse to use the other method. And if you try to force us, at the first opportunity we will run away."
I made this proposal, trying to ease the situation.
"Is that a threat kid?"
Orion's voice turned cold and intimidating. His body was surrounded by a green glow and his presence became overwhelming. But honestly, I didn't care.
"Yes, it is. "
"You're the one in danger, not me."
"And you're the one who will explain to Gerald why we disappeared or worse scenario, why we died."
I looked him straight in the eyes. There was a long moment of silence. We stared at each other without lowering our gaze once.
"I'm already starting to regret this job. Baby-sitting annoying brats like you, what the hell am I doing?" complained Orion loudly, "Ten minutes a day, not one more. And if I feel you're in danger, it's over."
He finally gave in.
"Don't worry about us."
"Tss"
I quickly explained to Lyanna the sensation I felt. For ten minutes we received spiritual energy and gave each other feedback.
