Seeing their embarrassed expressions, Zhao Yao communicated to Nasha and her companions using his power of awareness. “It’s alright. You can handcuff me. I don’t wish to fight unnecessarily.”
Zhao Yao noticed that there were no level indicators above the warriors’ heads and there were no new missions on Book so he was not interested in fighting them.
If he told them he forced Nasha and her companions to come back, he would be attacked. It was better to meet their leader first.
Moreover, conventional handcuffs were not able to restrain him.
Nasha walked warily forward and got a restraining cuff from the warriors. Then she walked to Zhao Yao and said using her power of awareness, “Thank you. I know that this is unable to restrain you and they are not your match. Thank you for showing mercy.”
“It’s alright,” Zhao Yao said casually. “I don’t fight if there are no experience points to gain.”
“Eh?” Nasha was taken aback as she could not figure out what Zhao Yao was saying. She put the restraining cuff on Zhao Yao.
She pressed a piece of cloth on Zhao Yao’s chest and it expanded rapidly before turning into strands of golden bands. They wrapped tightly around Zhao Yao and bound his upper body and both his arms.
The surrounding warriors who readied their weapons heaved in relief. The leading warrior said, “Let’s go. The elder has waited for a long time.”
Zhao Yao was escorted out and he saw that the surroundings were all complex winding caves.
He noticed that the caves were interconnected and there were many energetic humans wearing simple clothing.
Some of them were farming, learning, training in combat while others were preparing meals.
The daily household tools were backwards in technology and inferior to those on Earth.
However, the devices that controlled the opening and closing of the caves, the warrior’s weapons, devices, and the lighting and hygiene devices were far superior to those on Earth.
This was a civilization that went overboard on copying the technology of the Long Fur Tribe.
As the Cat Revolution Society was under attack from the three tribes their priority was survivability and combat. They did not have the time and energy to think about the quality of life.
Zhao Yao looked at a group of studying kids whose clothes were simple but they were full of energy. Their eyes looked spirited and they were filled with hope.
“The living conditions are not good but the humans have a fighting spirit.”
Zhao Yao was amused.
Along the way, he tested the restraining cuff and he could break it with little effort so he did not struggle. Instead, he followed them to a large building located in the underground cave.
“Nasha, you’ll bring him in while I stand guard outside.”
Nasha nodded and brought five of the warriors and Zhao Yao into the building. Zhao Yao felt a strange fragrance in the air.
Nasha explained, “This is the focusing fragrance made from carcass oil. It’ll cultivate your power of awareness and reduce the aging effects of the body. The effect is even better if used after the awareness leaves the body.”

Zhao Yao nodded and thought that the Cat Revolution Society had good stuff.
Nasha pointed to the dark main hall and said, “The dark environment’s helpful for mental cultivation. This is the training ground of the elder. Most of the time, there’s no light.”
The group walked along the main hall in darkness. Rays of faint white light descended upon the nearby hall and illuminated an elderly woman who was in a lotus sitting position.
The elderly woman’s face was full of creases while white hair covered her head. She was very short but looked solemn. She cast a domineering gaze on the restrained Zhao Yao.
“You are Zhao Yao?” The elderly woman said, “Tell me what you saw and heard in the Chaos Stronghold laboratory.”
Zhao Yao noticed that she had a Level 75 indicator above her head and thought, “Her heartbeat and breathing are weak. She doesn’t look like she has the Furless Tribe’s superpower. In this environment, is she only focusing on the power of awareness? Why didn’t she strengthen her body?”
Nasha said, “Summit Elder, Zhao Yao’s power far exceeded the intelligence we obtained. We brought him here after being defeated. We think we could cooperate with him and he has the same intention.”
“Oh?” The Summit Elder scrutinized Zhao Yao carefully. Nasha and her companions were her top warriors and Zhao Yao defeated them so he was much more powerful than was described in the intelligence.
The Summit Elder said, “Interesting. As a cat slave of the Short Fur Tribe for only a few months, you were able to defeat Nasha and her companions?”
“Stop the idle chat.” Zhao Yao tore apart the restraining cuff and twisted his head as he said, “Bring me to your leader. I’d like to discuss cooperation with him.”
The Summit Elder smiled and looked at Zhao Yao as though he was a kid. She said slowly, “The leader’s the pillar of our society and the hope of our human race. We can’t let anyone meet him. However, I’ll give you a chance. Shall we have a bet?”
Without giving him a chance to react, she said, “If you can fend off three of my blows, I’ll bring you to meet our leader. If you fail, you’ll work for me for three years. How’s that?”
She looked intensely at Zhao Yao to see how he would react.
She was not angry after finding out that Zhao Yao had defeated Nasha. Instead, she wanted to subdue the arrogant Zhao Yao and make him one of her subordinates.
Zhao Yao laughed and said, “You want me to be your subordinate?”
The Summit Elder frowned and said, “What’s so funny?”
Zhao Yao studied the Book’s mission panel and looked at her with the anticipation of a good harvest.
Mission: Arrogance
Mission Objective: The Cat Revolution Society is too arrogant and impolite. Show them real power.
Reward: The reward is given according to your arrogance level, the lowest is 1000 to the highest 30 000 experience points.
Penalty: None.
Seeing the mission, Zhao Yao could not help covering his face as he laughed. “D*mn, that’s a good Book. Knowing my inflated ego, the Book gave me this mission for me to do some self-reflection?”
Zhao Yao inhaled deeply and reminded himself. “Don’t be too self-centered. The universe’s huge. There’s bound to be someone better than you. Don’t be too arrogant.”
Zhao Yao looked at the Summit Elder and said, “Old hag! Eat s*it.”
