The cat king competition was a large-scale competition jointly organized by Jiangmen city’s four strongest cat kings, using one on one fight as a method to determine the territory for the respective cat kings.
The contender would be the representative for their individual areas, be it their district, street or even school.
The ultimate victor would be crowned Jiangmen city’s cat king. With the help of the four cat kings, the winner would rule over the entire Jiangmen city until the winner of the following year’s competition took over.
“Even though it’s stated as a cat king competition on paper, but it doesn’t matter if cats or their apostles go out and fight. Admittedly, humans are better at wielding certain power as compared to cats.”
Lion King’s nostrils flared and her eyes burned with excitement as she announced, “And today will be the day we decide who is to represent Jiangmen University for the competition.”
…
Zhao Yao propped his head on his chin as he listened to Dust Ball’s recount inside her belly. A frown appeared on his face as he commented, “The organization of stray supercats has already developed to this stage? Evidently, they have already informed and planned a series of activities for the entire city. Dust Ball, have you ever heard of the four cat kings?”
“No.” Dust Ball replied, “I have left the world of stray cats for months. Obviously, I’m not kept up to the date with the latest news. However, back when I was roaming the streets, supercats had already started dividing their territory based on districts and streets. Every area would have their own cat kings.”
…
Matcha listened to Lion Head’s explanation and clarified, “Why can there only be one representative? Can’t we just send out more cats for the competition?”
“No.” Lion Head replied with a shake of her head, “The competition has clearly stated that there can only be one contender for each area. He can either be a cat or an apostle but there can never be two cats or a combination of a cat and an apostle. This is to ensure fairness.”
Zhao Yao listened to Dust Ball’s recount and nodded his head. He thought, “This is why they had to decide on the representative because everyone shares the same chance of being crowned cat king.”
“However, the ability to inform all the supercats in Jiangmen city of this competition is rather remarkable. Is this done with the aid of a superpower? Or is it done with the help of human intervention? Or maybe the government is behind all this?”
The trio of Lion Head, Dust Ball, and Matcha continued down the path. Soon, they had reached a crack which could barely fit a cat.
Matcha glanced at the crack and asked, “What is this?”
Lion Head explained, “Behind this crack is a dugout. Originally, they had sealed the entrance leading to it but recent earthquakes caused the walls to crack, creating a new entry point. This is the venue for today’s discussion.”
The group of cats went through the cracks and entered the hall of the dugout. Darkness flooded the room but the cats could roughly make out their soundings with their keen eyesight. The unusually large hall was adorned with high ceilings and had plenty of space. It seemed like the dugout was previously used as a warehouse.
When the trio entered the hall, it was already swarming with cats. At least a hundred cats huddled inside the grand hall. Meows, growls, and snarls inundated the place.
Only a few torches were switched on despite the pitch-dark surrounding, however, that was sufficient for the cats to see and observe their environment.
Shock overtook Dust Ball’s face as she whispered, “I never expected so many cats to be here.”
“Of course,” Lion Head announced smugly, “Today, all the stray cats living in our territory have come forth to witness this discussion. The fate of Jiangmen University is dependent on the outcome of today’s debate. Obviously, everyone must be here to observe this momentous hour.
Matcha rolled his eyes as he mumbled, “These retards are so stupid, what’s the point of them being here.”
Lion Head cocked her head towards Matcha and mustered her most menacing snarl. She exclaimed, “They are still your family by blood. Even though they might not be as intelligent as us, but they still have emotions and thus have the rights to express themselves!”
“But that does not change the fact that they are still retarded.”
“GRRR!”
Seeing that both cats were on the verge of breaking into a fight, Dust Ball instinctively slapped Matcha on the back of his head and retorted, “What the f*ck are you trying to do? Do you dare to refute Boss? Do you still intend to live at Jiangmen University?”

Matcha wanted to teach Lion Head a lesson so badly, but he held his cool when Dust Ball’s voice rang in his head. Instantly, he was depleted of his urge to start a fight.
“Zhao Yao said that if you continue to mess things up, he will take away your wifi the moment we get home.”
“I’m sorry for committing this mistake!”
Matcha fell to the floor before turning around to reveal his belly. By forcing the most courteous smile that his mouth could possibly make, Matcha tried his best to appease Lion Head and atone for his mistakes.
Following Lion Head’s arrival, the swarm of cats separated into two halves and opened up a path along the middle. From it emerged a maroon Dragon Li, which instantly started exclaiming the moment it noticed Lion Head, “Big sister, what took you so long today? Why did you bring Zhao Xue along for today’s discussion? And who are those two cats behind you?”
“Zhao Xue’s ability can help act as a bargaining chip during the discussion. Furthermore, she can lend us her power if the discussion ends up in a fight. These two fellas are cats I picked up along the way. They are my subordinates. The small and black cat is a rather sensible fella but the big, fat orange cat is quite dumb. Do spare some extra effort to take care of them.”
Naturally, these thoughts were communicated telepathically to the maroon Dragon Li. Lion Head opened her mouth and announced, “These two are Dust Ball and Matcha. They are my newly recruited subordinates.”
“This is Baozi, my most loyal subordinate.”
The two parties nodded at each other before updating the other party on today’s situation. Even though there were hordes of stray cats gathered today, but Lion Head and Baozi were the only supercats from the northern campus. Hence, they played an integral role in determining the fates of everyone here.
However, they were not alone today. They had brought along Zhao Xue and the two supercats which she picked up during their journey here. This gave Lion Head a much-required confidence boost for the discussion.
Suddenly, the swarm of cats separated into two halves again, opening a path down the middle. This time around, two cats slowly sauntered in elegantly, with their tails standing on end. These were the two supercats representing the southern campus.
They were the king of the south, Airplane, and his lackey, Sausage.
Airplane was a long-furred cat with orange stripes adorning the length of its body. From the looks of it, Airplane was most probably a mixed blood between a Persian cat and a tabby. Immediately, its voice echoed down the length of the hall, “Hey, isn’t that Lion Head, our dear sister? We haven’t seen each other for a few days and you had already grown fat.”
Lion Head carefully let Zhao Xue down when she heard Airplane’s voice. She walked up to Airplane to welcome him and sneered, “Isn’t that Airplane? It’s only been a few days and you’ve already grown uglier than before.”
“What kind of bullshit are you spouting?” Sausage roared as he charged out from behind Airplane. With his fingers wagging at Lion Head’s voice, he retorted, “Stupid fat bitch, watch your words!”
Similarly, Baozi dashed out from behind Lion Head and landed a tirade of words on Sausage, “What the f*ck are you trying to do? When did it become your turn to talk? Do you even know the rules here?”
The somewhat cordial greetings instantaneously morphed into a heated argument the moment the two parties met.
The stray cats surrounding the two parties puffed up their fur in their attempt to intimidate their opponent as they cheered on their respective cat kings.
Matcha rested his chin on his paws and pressed his ear downwards when the commotion started. He thought, “Why do they have to scream and shout so loudly. At this rate, they are definitely gonna die from this.”
Dust Ball simply observed the action unfurl from afar and had no intentions to take any action. She explained, “This is the unspoken rule in the world of stray cats. Before the start of any battles, the side that has the louder roar would gain an advantage over the other party.”
As the intensity of the screams and shrieks heightened, Zhao Xue could not help but cup her ears with her hands to block out the ear-splitting noises. Finally, Lion Head let out a thunderous roar and announced, “This is enough, Airplane. Does this mean that you’re uninterested in a discussion by allowing your subordinate to create an uproar? If you’re not interested in talking, we can start a fight right here and right now. I, Lion Head, have ruled over Jiangmen University for years. I have even bitten the principal before. Do you think I’m actually afraid of you?”
“Lion Head sister, it’s not that I’m uninterested in a discussion but it’s your subordinate, Baozi, who is not co-operating with us. Do you know he raped Sausage’s wife the previous month? Now, she’s here to find the father of her unborn kitten.” The long-furred Airplane exclaimed, “Settle this thing first before we move on to our agenda. If not, how am I supposed to face my fellow cats? By then, they would lose all respect for me and how am I supposed to rule the campus?”
Lion Head turned her head around swiftly as fury poured out of her eyes. She death-glared her subordinate, Baozi, and asked, “Is Airplane speaking the truth?”
Baozi lowered his head in shame before whispering, “Big sister, it’s not as straightforward as he claimed. The female cat seduced me.”
“There are rules in the world of stray cats. Haven’t I told you to never lay your hands on defenseless female cats?”
Baozi collapsed onto the floor and whispered, “I really did not make the first move.”
Meanwhile, Matcha added fuel to the fire by saying, “Are you serious? You don’t even dare to admit your mistakes after f*cking the female cat? Are you even going to disown your own child? I think you should just go back to catching rats.”
Matcha’s words captured the attention of all the cats within the hall. Immediately, tens of pairs of eyes swept towards him, including Airplane and Sausage.
