Chapter 563: Badmouthing

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

Expecting to receive a new mission, Zhao Yao followed Kaede Hattori out of the courtyard into his car and left the Hattori family.

“Eh? Where is he bringing me?” Zhao Yao’s eyes flashed. He became more curious about where Kaede Hattori was headed to.

After the two of them were seated in the back of a small sedan, Kaede Hattori started talking to him, “Mr. Yamada, where do you think the future of our country lies?”

When he heard this, Zhao Yao paused for a moment and thought to himself, “The heck, I just wanted to complete a mission and earn some experience points. You’re asking me where the future of the country lies? How would an insignificant Chinese man like me know?”

Zhao Yao frowned deeply for a moment before saying seriously, “Anime and games?”

Of course, the conversation between the two relied on Old Cat’s translation. He translated what he heard to Zhao Yao in his mind, while Zhao Yao also communicated his reply to Old Cat in his mind. Old Cat then translated it to Kaede Hattori. With Zhao Yao’s power of illusion and Roly Poly’s invisibility as a cover, Kaede Hattori did not have the slightest suspicion.

Kaede Hattori shook his head and was slightly disappointed, “Anime and games may have huge influence and production value, but to say that these two alone will bring about the renaissance of our country is too far-fetched. The Chinese had a great leader who said that political power comes from the barrel of a gun. To truly bring about the renaissance of Japan, we need to first develop a strong skill set.”

“Gun barrel?” Zhao Yao nodded and replied thoughtfully, “So, it’s the AV?”

“I’m not talking about that gun barrel!” Kaede Hattori’s face turned black. To prevent him from making anymore blind guesses Kaede Hattori replied immediately, “Currently, our greatest hope for renaissance lies in the potential of supercats.”

This was an unprecedented opportunity. Superpowers were game-changing. They could make a very weak person strong enough to beat an opponent they never thought they were even capable of fighting.

Even a weaker country could overcome the power inequality in between itself and stronger countries.

Seeing the excitement on Kaede Hattori’s face, Zhao Yao was exasperated, but nodded his head fervently, saying “Kaede Hattori, what you said was so true. Only a person with great insight like you can lead the Empire of Japan to punch America, kick aside China and spit on Britain, France, and Russia.”

Kaede Hattori was slightly taken aback by his words. Though Zhao Yao was a bit crude, this was indeed what Kaede Hattori wished for. In the current Japanese government, not everyone agreed with his use of supercats.

Kaede Hattori nodded his head in satisfaction, “Mr. Yamada, I see I trusted the right person. We are of the same kind with similar aspirations.”

Zhao Yao immediately replied in a flattering tone, “How can I compare to you, Inspector Hattori? I am merely a small screw in the tank of the great Empire. You are the true leader who can lead us towards a bright and promising future. Without you, no matter how many people like me there are in this world, they are of no use.”

Zhao Yao spoke crudely, but he was shameless to begin with. His words were like music to Kaede Hattori’s ears. Throughout the whole journey, Zhao Yao and Kaede Hattori were all smiles and laughter. Kaede Hattori was beginning to see Mr. Yamada in a more favorable light.

As he had activated the supercat armor for protection before he went to the Hattori household, even as he was sitting in the car, Zhao Yao was surrounded by supercats.

Seeing how Zhao Yao was conniving with Kaede Hattori, pure-hearted Rice Cake shouted in astonishment, “Is Zhao Yao going to be a traitor? So we are all going to become Japanese cats?”

Elizabeth casually licked her paws and said, “You fool, Zhao Yao still has many things to do back home. How could he dare become a traitor? I think he’s just lying to this Japanese guy. Perhaps to get a new mission?”

Rice Cake was shocked. “Really? Zhao Yao looked very serious and was so agreeable with him.”

“Haha!” Matcha spoke like an experienced cat and said, “Rice Cake, you’re too naive. You shouldn’t believe anything a person like Zhao Yao says. He is an expert at cheating young, naive kitty cats.”

As he said that, Matcha sighed as though he had been through great hardships in life, “When I had just turned one, I was cheated into the hands of this douchebag, like an ignorant kitty cat. At that time, he told me I would be the only cat at home. In the end? There are so many cats in the house now that I bet even a round of PUBG can’t fit all of us.”

Elizabeth pouted and said, “Even so, you are still his first cat. Men will not forget their first cat, unlike us. We can’t even leave an impression on him.

Can you believe this? One time Zhao Yao woke up in the morning, stroked my back and called me Diana? He actually mistook me for Diana?!”

Rice Cake said in astonishment, “He’s actually such a douchebag. He can’t even recognize his own cats!”

“Hmph,” Dust Ball could not help but add, “That’s nothing. Remember last winter, when it was really cold during Chinese New Year?

Zhao Yao, he… he actually put me under the computer table as his leg rest! Can you believe it? He used his own cat as a leg rest? How old was I then? He did that to me? Roly Poly was less than two meters away, but he still picked me to be his leg rest.”

Roly Poly was speechless. He thought to himself, “The heck, did I eat your catmints or something?”

Seeing that the cats had all started complaining, taking turns reproaching Zhao Yao, Roly Poly had a strange gleam in his eyes as he communicated all that he heard to Zhao Yao telepathically. He told him, “Zhao Yao, Zhao Yao, these ungrateful cats only know how to badmouth you. I couldn’t stand it so I had to tell you. Please don’t tell them I was the one who exposed them.”

Zhao Yao frowned and glared viciously at Matcha, Elizabeth and the rest who were chatting excitedly. He hollered at the cats telepathically, “What nonsense are you all saying? Roly Poly said that you were all badmouthing me?”

All the cats were stunned. They turned to glare at Roly Poly, who drew a long face and thought to himself, “Please don’t blame me. From the moment the Royal Cat Police Force was established, the only choice I had was to be loyal to Zhao Yao.”

Zhao Yao said menacingly, “You bunch of useless cats, all you do is laze around all day, living without purpose, indulging in your own pleasures. You only know how to play games and surf the internet. Some of you only know how to watch live streams and dramas. If I weren’t taking care of the bunch of you, you would have all starved to death.

None of you are either smart or powerful. The only thing you know how to do is to act cute. I’ve raised over a hundred over of you cats! You only know how to leech off me without doing actual work. Even when you are constipated you come to me to ask for help! Do you think it’s been easy for me?”

His scolding shook them as if it were spoken and not thought. Matcha, Elizabeth and all the other cats trembled in fear and lay flat on the floor as their ears drooped.
