The fleeing refugees were all commoners so they would not have the mentality of Chinese apostles to choose to return and save their companions.
Both parties were locked in an endless heated argument. The Chinese apostles, who were without their superpowers, were a minority as compared to the natives. They were about to be outvoiced.
A blinding light shone over them and caught everyone by surprise. Facing the light source, they closed their eyes as the light was too bright.
They had not seen light for a long time and they were overjoyed to experience brightness again.
“Is that light?”
“Someone brought along a torchlight.”
“Yay! We can see again.”
Zhao Yao scanned the refugees with his torchlight to look for traces of the Chinese apostles as they were worth 200 experience points each. Though Zhao Yao had many experience points, his philosophy was to take care of the pences and the pounds would take care of themselves.
A group of refugees, led by their leaders, gathered around Zhao Yao.
Zhao Yao turned his head, illuminated them, and asked curiously, “Is there anything wrong?” Zhao Yao swept his blinding torchlight over them and they covered their eyes, turning their heads away.
The young girl, Blue Butterfly, who brought along Zhao Yao, covered her eyes shyly and said, “Brother, will you lend us your torchlight? We are going to break out of here. If the leader has the torchlight, we will have a higher chance of success.”
Blue Butterfly’s face blushed from embarrassment.
Underground, a normal torchlight had become the most critical and yet rare item for lighting and leading the way. It was also the source of hope for the refugees who had not seen light for a few days.
Blue Butterfly was embarrassed because they were forcing Zhao Yao to give up his torchlight.
Zhao Yao was not bothered with their concerns. He shone the torchlight on a few Chinese men, who were beside the natives and activated his superpower to question them, “Are you apostles from China? Uncle Ho asked me to rescue you.”
They looked at Zhao Yao, pleasantly surprised, and said, “How many of you came? Do you still have superpowers? Do you have supercats?”
“I am the only one and I still have my superpowers.” At the mention of supercats, Zhao Yao replied warily, “My supercats are privately owned and I do not lend their abilities.”
The Chinese apostles were disappointed but they were thankful that Zhao Yao still had his superpowers.
They said anxiously, “Our companions were captured by those strange ghosts. We have to rescue them.”
Zhao Yao asked, “Do you know the way?”
The natives were puzzled to see the Chinese apostles speaking Mandarin. As Zhao Yao was activating his superpower to communicate, they only heard the the voices of the Chinese apostles and not Zhao Yao’s voice.
A middle-aged native came forward and said, “Enough idle chat.” He spoke to Zhao Yao in English, “Hand your torchlight over to us, we need it to break out of here.”
At this moment, the ground started quaking. With numerous roars, countless strange figures emerged from the darkness.
“The ghosts are here.”

“Run! They are coming for us!”
With the appearance of the ghosts, the natives panicked and fled in all directions. Their formation collapsed without any attacks by the ghosts. They were most likely to suffer casualties from their stampede.
“Keep quiet.” Zhao Yao scorned at the natives and activated his power of illusion. Energy waves radiated from his location.
All the refugees collapsed to the ground, their faces completely blank.
“The ghosts are scary! Fleeing is even more terrifying. I shall lay down instead.”
“Humph, let me rest here. If I move, I lose.”
“Well, if I had a can of coke, I would be the happiest person in the world.”
The effect of Zhao Yao’s Great Flow of Idleness was too strong so he only activated it for a short while. He stopped the superpower once everyone laid down quietly on the ground. Everyone gazed at him in astonishment as he confronted the ghosts.
As Zhao Yao stepped towards the ghosts, Roly Poly made his head invisible.
Looking at the familiar silhouette of the Headless Horseman, the ghost army trembled in fear and backed up a few steps.
Blue Butterfly looked surprise as she uttered, “The ghost army… retreats?”
The middle-aged native was bewildered and said, “Why do I feel like… the ghosts are afraid of him?”
They were all wondering about the actual identity of Zhao Yao.
Kun Wu’s voice was heard coming from the rear of the ghosts, “Brainless, why are you always against us?”
“Brainless?” Zhao Yao’s gaze froze as he glared at the ghost army and said, “I hate it when people call me brainless.” He grabbed Mango from the Dimension Portal and tossed him to the ghost army.
Roly Poly activated his superpower and made Mango invisible as well.
Kun Wu was not aware of the invisible Mango and said, “We didn’t harm the people of this city. Instead, we protected them. We did so many things to save the Earth. A shocking evil has awakened. With your current power, you are unable to defeat them…”
“I am not listening to your b*llshit.” Zhao Yao glared furiously at the millions of ghosts and said, “I am giving you diarrhea!” A strong feeling of constipation was sent to Mango.
Mango frowned, his mouth puffy with anger as his whiskers curled up with agitation.
Kun Wu was shocked to see all the monsters collapsing to the ground and having diarrhea of metals, batteries, and engine oil.
“What… what is happening?” Kun Wu did not believe her own eyes as it was illogical.
Kun Wu found it hard to accept that the nano robots were having diarrhea of metals and microchips. She felt it was too incredible to see them having diarrhea of AA batteries.
“Humph, my previous experiments were not in vain.” Zhao Yao was very pleased that he had tested various superpowers on the female ghost. Besides electrical attacks, Mango had the greatest effect on her.
Zhao Yao realized from his experiments that the ghosts were not evil spirits. Rather, they were robots constructed out of some dark technology. Hence, Elizabeth’s power of illusion was ineffective against them. Even Zhao Yao’s Paralysis Ring and Roly Poly’s Titanium Dog Eye were ineffective as well.
Zhao Yao was amazed by the fact that Mango’s superpower was extremely effective against robots and the precedence level of the superpower was very high.
Looking at the ghosts having diarrhea of AA batteries, Zhao Yao thought, “I wonder if I can cause gold bars to have diarrhea. What is the weight of a gold bar after that? It is worth a try.”
