Chapter 30: A motivation

After watching in silence how the woman treated like an expert the wound on the sick man, I got bored and decided to leave.

"Hey, wait a moment, I'm almost done here"

Though she ended up stopping me from leaving...

Sigh...

"Fine"

It took a few minutes until she finally stood up and shook the dust off her clothes.

"So, why did you want me to stay here?" I asked while suppressing my urges to yawn from tiredness

"It's because of your body"

O-oh...?

I knew I was handsome beyond what was humanly possible but...

"It has a very different regenerative capacity compared to the normal people"

Oh...

I was not disappointed... Just so you know.

"And how the hell do you know something like that just by looking at me once?"

"Since I was a child I had a lot of talent regarding medical stuff, and I was able to know by instinct certain information about the body of the people I looked at"

I narrowed my eyes...

What kind of Information...?

Does that include information about my little brother down there?! Talk about privacy man!

When she saw my suspicious glare she got flustered and started denying it instantly.

"I mean information about the condition of the body, like health, possible illnesses, where the wounds are, and maybe a bit on the specific functions on the body, dumbass!"

*Cough* "I already knew that" I said while looking at the side.

She sighed at my response.

"...Anyways, since I saw you approaching us I sensed that your body is for some reason a lot healthier than normal people, and your regenerative abilities seem to be abnormally strong compared to humans..."

Hmm... Maybe It's because of my godly regeneration that can regenerate any wound as long as it doesn't kill me instantly.

Or maybe It's because I consumed that Life crystal?

Hmm, Who knows... Maybe it's both.

"So I wanted to ask you a favor" She said with a bit of embarrassment on her gaze...

I have a bad feeling about this...

"I wanted to ask you please If you could let me experiment on your body a bit, as I want to create a medicine that can cure any wound instantly, and I think your body may be the only thing I need to complete this medicine"

...

Wow... that's kinda... Impossible?

I mean, even the most OP healing potions in the game just recovered 200 HP. And that shit could only be crafted by using cosmic stuff from aliens, so...

Keep dreaming girl.

"No, thank you" I answered before leaving the place at full speed.

I don't need to have someone experiment on my body and do who knows what horrendous things to it while I'm sleeping...

While running, I could still hear the girl from before yelling at me angrily. However, I just shrugged it off and continued running towards the city without any care.

Maybe If destiny wants to reunite both of us again, it will happen.

But for now I'm still too young to become Frankenstein or some shit like that.

...

...

*Ba-dump*

*Ba-dump*

*Ba-dump*

My heart was beating like crazy right now. And no, it wasn't because of a girl, It was because I could see in the distance the fucking goblin army approaching the city.

I was nervous, I could feel my feet stomp repeatedly the floor at a barely visible speed to the eye.

Three more days have passed since the incident with the strange girl, and all the preparations for this war were ready now.

We already thought about many ways to take care of these fuckers, and we had a complete plan, However, that didn't lessen my nervousness  in the slightest.

What If we failed?

I glanced at the great city behind me, the thousands of families living peacefully like I once did, and the thousands of immigrants from other cities and villages that entered the city and were now waiting for the results of the war, all this made my back drench in sweat at the thoughts of failing.

However, before I could sink more on this feeling, a hand reached my shoulder.

When I turned around, I saw the old man Easton looking at the incoming goblin army with serene and calm eyes, smiling like he has never done before.

"Are you nervous?" He asked while still looking towards the goblin army

"Well... We have to fight against an army of monsters that surpass us in almost all characteristics by a lot... so yeah"

"Tell me Aspen, why did you help us in this war?"

"I shouldn't have?"

"Answer me"

"Well, I did what I considered the most human thing to do in this case. I had the power to give a last opportunity to survive to the people in this place, so why not?"

"Is that all?"

"...There's also the fact that I don't want the tragedy that happened years ago in my village to repeat..."

...

"Heh... You are just like the Harry on his youth..."

"The old man?"

He just seemed to be a pretty chill grandpa that had an extraordinary talent for swordsmanship.

"Since he was a child he always wanted to become a hero like in the legends and save humanity from extinction with just his power alone. However, even after training his swordsmanship for many years, he was unable to protect his village from the goblins, and ended up escaping for weeks until he found the village in which you were born..."

...

His story seems awfully familiar to mine...

He wanted to be a hero, but failed to protect the things he cared about.

...

"I guess that's why he chose you, Aspen"

...

I glanced at my sword

A hero?

Heh...

Aren't we awfully similar, old man? If that was your dream, then I guess it can also be mine...

Though I don't like the idea of being a hero, it's too troublesome. So I might add a few changes here and there... Sorry about that...

...

I looked back at the goblin army in front of me.

Right... It was these bastards that took everything from me.

Soon the nervousness I was feeling started transforming into a deep hatred, and the doubts I had in my head changed into a great anger at the thought of dying to one of these pests.

*Cruckle*

*Cruckle*

I cracked my neck as It was feeling a bit stiff and then stood up.

"Thanks"

"You're welcome" Easton said before leaving.

Was it really obvious that I was nervous?

Sigh...

*Chirp!*

"Alright, no need to be so impatient Neo"

"Sir! The goblins reached our range of attack!"

Perfect.

"Launch the bombs"

"Yes!"

The people on the wall started working fast, and soon they charged the catapults with our 'special' invention.

"FIRE!"

The gigantic spheric objects flew at full speed towards the army, and as soon as they made contact with the ground they exploded into an enormous gel explosion.

The goblins that received that attack, became dumbfounded due to the ineffectiveness of this weapon before starting to laugh at us.

"Sir! We are waiting for your orders!

Heh...

Time for payback has come.

...

"Burn them up"
