Chapter 81: Fortune is never by my side...

...

"Yarr harr, fiddle de dee, being a pirate is alright to be. Do want you want 'cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate...~"

"What the heck are you muttering over there Aspen...?"

...

"... Nothing... nothing at all"

Many people walked across the enormous ship Elfanic, some were cleaning the floor, others were moving cargo, while others just watched the seemingly infinite sea in front of them with relaxed expressions on their faces.

Aspen, who was singing some old pirate songs from his previous world in a low voice, turned to look at Alyem with a tired look in his eyes.

"How long does this trip usually last?"

Alyem sweatdropped a bit after seeing Aspen's bored expression but answered with a calm look in his eyes nevertheless.

"Around two or three days without any setbacks, if there are things like storms, or attacks marine beasts then it prolongs to four or five days in the worst case..."

"Well, I guess we have a lot of free time until then, huh?" Aspen nodded and turned to look at the sea in front of him once again.

'Should I practice my archery skill with those seagulls? Nah, it could be too easy... Maybe I should try hitting some of the fish swimming below us while calculating the resistance of the water?' Aspen turned to look at the ocean and tried to find a fish or something else to practice, but even after standing there for half an hour, he failed to find something.

After that, he went to the warehouse of the ship in order to help the elves moving the cargo. After all, he was quite bored and anything could help to appease his boredom.

The surrounding elves just looked at him once before they shrugged their shoulders and continued doing their work at a rapid pace. However, right when Aspen was about to move the last barrel of food in front of him, a hand touched his shoulder and patted it a bit.

"You're Aspen right?"

A tall elf with a long blond beard, and a very elegant suit that covered his whole body, raised his voice and looked at Aspen with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, who are you, sir?"

"Hahaha, I'm the captain of this ship, Joshrya Ventobal, but you can just call me Joshrya. I saw the incredible potions you offered in order to take part on this expedition to Jashlya, I'm rather interested in forming a partnership with you for the future, what do you say?" The man offered a handshake and smiled with joy when he noticed Aspen's change in expression when he mentioned the partnership.

'As expected, this human knows the joys of money...' Joshrya man nodded his head lightly inside his mind, and then looked at Aspen while waiting for his response.

"Sure, I have some rather impressive abilities when it comes to creating potions, so I believe this might be the beginning of a very beautiful friendship"

'Seems like this old man knows the joys of money...' Aspen thought with a grin on his face and nodded his head lightly inside his mind.

"Come, let's talk inside my office, I want to know what kind of potions are you able to produce!"

Soon, Aspen followed the Joshrya and entered the most luxurious room of the ship. The furniture, although made completely from wood, was beautifully polished and gave off a soothing feeling that calmed the minds of everyone that saw it, there were many paintings of what Aspen guessed to be the previous owners of the Elfanic, and each of their frames was covered in a beautiful and shiny layer of pure gold.

"Then, how many potions are you capable of creating?" Joshrya sat on what seemed to be his desk and crossed his arms while looking at Aspen seriously.

"It depends on the number of ingredients that I have, but with rather simple ingredients that one might find easily in nature... then about five or eight approximately..."

"Then what if you had all the ingredients you needed?"

"Heh, around 60 maybe...? Though I doubt that you or I will be able to find some of the ingredients that I need... They are rather... rare..."

"Tell me, I have quite an enormous amount of money, and I might have bought one of them in one of the many auctions held on the city" Joshrya stroked his beard while laughing lightly in pride of his fortune.

However, even money didn't seem to be enough for finding the ingredients that Aspen asked for.

"Well... do you have Fireblossom?"

...

"Err... what is that?" Joshrya scratched embarrassedly his head while looking at Aspen with an apologetic look in his eyes.

Aspen, who saw Joshrya's reaction, shook his head lightly before he started pondering about another ingredient that he has been lacking during the past few years.

"Then what about an Armored cave fish?" Aspen raised a finger and asked with an expectant expression on his face.

"Sorry..." But unfortunately for him, it seemed that even Joshrya was unable to find such a rare specimen.

"It's alright, even I myself have been unable to find one of those fishes during my numerous adventures inside the caves... not to mention that the Fireblossom isn't exactly in an accessible place..... Hmm?" While talking to Joshrya, Aspen had been looking at his surroundings from time to time, and in one of these times, he actually noticed a certain thing that called his attention enormously.

"Hey, Mr. Joshrya where did you find this worm...?" Aspen stood up right away and walked in direction of a small glass cage, where a small worm that had a white body, and a blue head crawled calmly inside it.

"Oh, that? One of the miners found a strange population of blue mushrooms that grow in the interior of caves, and in one of the bushes that were at that place, this tiny guy suddenly came out of the bushes and tried to burrow itself within the ground right away when the miners saw it. But as you can see, he was unable to. After that, he was sold on the previous auction a few weeks ago as an exotic creature never seen before, and I bought it since it caught my eye... is it some kind of incredible ingredient for your potions...?" Joshrya asked Aspen cheerfully while boasting about his most recent purchase. However, unlike what he expected, Aspen did not answer at all, and instead, he continued looking at the worm in front of him, giving his back to Joshrya, and making it impossible to see his current expression.

In front of Aspen, a small translucent screen appeared right when he managed to make eye contact with the small worm in front of him.
