Pov Mia
I didn't expect my first day out in years would be like this. I wanted to do something fun. But that wasn't what my uncle had in mind. So after I escorted the merchants, I had nothing to do. The guards don't let me go anywhere and don't allow anybody to come near me.
The auction will begin soon, so I'm going to our private room. We didn't even get a good one—just a plain room with ten chairs. The merchants joined me a few minutes later. Maybe in here, the guards won't stop me from a conversation.
The first item is a fancy-looking helm without any use, at least for me. I'm not allowed to train. I wonder if someday I can learn self-defense. All the items, for now, will be useless. The best will be shown at the end. I still can't believe they're going to sell it.
The group's last member joins us just as the better items appear. He walks in, looks at me, and sits beside the heavy man. He looks relatively young and doesn't seem to be a merchant. The next item is announced, "This piece is the only sword made by the brother of the Clan leader of the Ironbone clan, Asmandel Ironbone, for 15 years. Rumors say he needed so much time to make this sword. I present to you the 'World Cutter'."
What a stupid name. Isn't it a bit arrogant to name a sword like this?
I hear giggling to my right. When I look over, I see the young human trying to hide his laughter. Then he looks at me, "sorry, but that's just a dumb name. Why would you name a sword like that?"
I nod my head. I want to talk to him, but another of them starts, "So you have a better name, boy?" His voice is harsh. The human ignores it.
"Yeah, I have. What about 'Retribution of Iron' or 'Kings last Hope'?" Even that sounds much better than 'World Cutter'. The other man doesn't have anything to add.
"I'm Finn, by the way." The young human talks again. I need a second to realize that he's talking to me.
"I'm Mia. But you already know this. So, are you going to buy anything?" I take a glimpse over at the guards, but they ignore us. So far, so good.
"I wish. There were a few things I would like to have, but I'm here only because of Bonny."
"Oh. I see." I need to figure out how to continue. But I'm not good at this, so I keep quiet. The sword was sold for 55 gold coins to a noble.
A few hours and a break later, the woman on the stage announces, "The time has come you all waited for. It is my pleasure to present you with two Artifacts. The first is a necklace that can project a bubble around you. The bubble can block attacks up to Tier 3. The origin is unknown. The starting price is 250 gold coins."
This time Bonny speaks, "two? What the hell? I brought three." He walks up to my guards. "What are they doing? Why are they only selling two? Explain!" He screams at the guards, but they ignore him.
Bonny storms out of the room. The second Artifact is a shield with an enchantment that can when fully charged, unload a shockwave around you. The necklace is sold for 370 and the shield for 420. The next item is the last for this auction.

Bonny storms out of the room. For a second, I want to follow him. But as I stand up, I see how the three men I was keeping an eye on all this time get up too. Mia's guards don't realize that they're moving toward her. Everybody is focused on the stage. The last item must be something extraordinary.
Peter and his companions are almost on her. I'm still trying to figure out what to do. I glance at the guards and then at the 3 men again. That's when two things happened. First, I catch one of the guard's eyes turning to Peter for a second. And second, I see how Peter takes a dagger out.
At this point, I'm almost sure she's Askei's daughter. I boost my feet with Mana and leap forward. Mia notices the three men. She turns to her guards but quickly realizes that they're no help. Peter is only 2 meters away from her, and I'm just behind. I push Mana in my leg, kick him in the knee, and he buckles. But before I can follow up with a punch to his face, I get knocked back as two fists crash into me. I blink a few times to regain my sight. They're strong.
All three turn to me, "So, you knew!" Peter declares.
I didn't until I overheard them, but they don't need to know. "Of course, I knew. So who the fuck are you?"
"None of your business." Felix talks for the first time.
"Can you wait for a second? Please." I have to buy some time. Maybe somebody notices, or Bonny comes back. Also, I have a question for somebody.
"Mia, who's your daddy?" Everybody quietly stares at me. What did I do?
"Wait. That's not what I meant. I mean, who's your father? Tell me his name."
"My father's name? My father's name is Askei Vinea. But he's dead." She says, confused. Finally, I know for sure.
"What are you idiots doing? Get rid of him, now." Peter yells and then turns to Mia again. Felix and Alan move to me as I run toward them. They try to grab me, but I slide under them. Peter knocks the struggling Mia out and is about to stab her. I kick him in the knee again. This time I hear it crack.
He turns to me. The guards watch but still don't move. They probably didn't get orders for a situation like this. I hear Felix and Alan move behind me. So I'm moving to Peter. He punches, but I dodge under and grab his arm. I spin my body and throw him to his friends over my back.
The one guard ran out of the room to report, which means I only have a little time left. I can't even win against these three. So what will happen if the guards going to join? And they will because they're in on this. I grab Mia and throw her on my shoulder.

Peter moves instantly and screams, "stop him!" But he can't reach me fast enough.
I jump over the railing, grab the wall, and use Mana to slow our fall. Now the guards chase me too. I run down the steps to the stage. I didn't think this through. I jump up to the podium next to the announcer. I lay Mia carefully down. Everyone is looking at us now. He won't try to kill the Princess with so many witnesses. I'm right because instead, he jumps at me and stabs me on my right side.
It hurts as I pull the dagger out. I know I'm not supposed to, but it feels odd. Peter stands there, smiling at me. Why is he smiling? The guards reach us shortly after. "Take them." He shouts.
Then they move towards Mia and me. Wait-wait a second. Why are they taking us? I feel dizzy, so I look down at my side. Under me, a big pool of blood was gathered. That's way too much blood for a stab wound. Two guards grab me.
That's why he was smiling. They're going to accuse me of everything they did; if I even survive this. The guards are on their side, but the Princess knows what happened. She will tell the truth. They drag me up the stairs to the exit. I have to do something. "They tried to kill your Princess. I helped her. Just ask her. They're lying to you. Let the Princess speak if you want to know..." As I scream, someone knocks me out.

Pov Arras Vinea
Two Months ago
My council and me sitting together around a table. We're discussing our next steps. "The preparations for the Auctions are almost done. Now we only need some Items, so it looks serious." My closest Advisor Noel reports.
We have known each other for 55 years, and for five decades, he has helped me rule my people. I can't ask for a better friend. "Good, we should also put one of our special Items out for sale. I suggest we use the 'Locus Bracelet'." I say.
"My King, we can't just sell one of our treasures. Please reconsider." Noel retorts me fast.
"Calm Down, Noel. But, of course, I'm not going to give it away. We're going to buy it ourselves back. General, how many have joined the army as of now?"
"The army has 12.000 Soldiers ready. We expect, after the auction, a lot more to join. I also can confirm now that the 3 Items the Merchants bring are a necklace, a shield, and a dagger, just as our supporter told us."
"It's good to hear that she isn't completely useless. Get everything in place. I want her dead with the dagger in her heart!"
---------------------------------
One day after the Auction
"Today was supposed to be the day my revenge begins. So tell me, why is this worthless bitch still alive?" I can't control my anger anymore, so I scream at Noel, "AND WHO THE FUCK IS THIS DISGUSTING HUMAN?"
But he's as calm as always, "this, my King, is the human who saved the Princess. Unfortunately, he got stabbed instead of princess Mia. I thought you would want to see him."
"And why would I?" I hate when he's doing that—slowly getting to the point.
"My King, this human is barely T2 Blue and survived the 'Blood Weeper' dagger. Wouldn't my King like to know how he did it?"
Now that I think about it. It's fascinating. Where did he even come from? And why was he risking his life for her?
Noel talks again, "also, the guards told me that he was asking about her father."
"He was asking about her father? What did he ask?" That's weird. I have a terrible feeling.
"His name."
"He asked his name. Do you think he knows him? No, he is way too young. What is in the report from the last visit to the island?"
"I already checked. Your brother is still on the island. His core is the same as before. Should we send another one to check again?"
"No, that won't be necessary. We will wait until the next time. Throw him in the dungeon for questioning."
"As you wish, my King" He bows and leaves to execute my orders.
