Chapter 5: 5. The World of Pirates.

'Mm… I wonder what HAK and DF mean.' They seemed to be currently locked, but I had a hunch that they would be unlocked later and would be pretty important.

At first, my finger hovered in front of the strength stat, and since it seemed to be quite important, I placed a decent amount of stat points in it.

[STR: 0 -> 30]

[SP: 100 -> 70]

Then, it was agility's time, and I did the same as strength, putting a lot of importance on it.

After assigning agility stats, I placed randomly in the last ones.

I didn't use all stat points now and reserved 10 for HAK and DF stats.

After assigning, I checked my interface one last time.

A feeling of strength shrouded me. I have never been a very athletic person, but now, I feel like I have jogged every day until I reached my current state.

I sat up in the bed and scratched the back of my head. The chore boys were still unpacking, and that made me think. What the fuck was I doing here?

I should be outside exploring the City!

I jumped to my two feet with those thoughts and trekked toward the door. However, before that, Peter raised his head and asked.

''W-Where are you going?''

''Outside, wanna come?'' After reaching the doorway, I turned around and looked at Peter, whose face turned pale after my answer.

Peter shook his head and asked, ''Don't you think it's inappropriate? We just arrived…''

I frowned, ''Inappropriate? I am just going out, and if someone gets ass hurt because of it, then fuck em!''

Peter's heart almost popped out of his chest. He felt light-headed and thought he would pass out after hearing such a radical comment.

After seeing that Peter had no intention of leaving, I shrugged and left the room. Soon, I reached downstairs and saw Lotus carrying a stack of papers.

''I am going to visit the City,'' I said without circling around the bushes. From a close angle, I could see her furrowed brows.

''But you just arrived.'' She said.

''Yes, so?'' I asked.

''Don't you think it's inappropriate?''

''Why would it be?'' I tilted my head, and I honestly had no idea why would it be inappropriate. I would be just going out.

Lotus' mouth curved upward slightly, ''Fine, but be back before sunset, or you will have to sleep next night on the streets.''

''Yes!'' I said with a salute.

Lotus watched as the somewhat weird black-haired boy left the building, ''Hmm…''

After I left the building, I continued strolling the streets aimlessly. The soldiers that walked past me took a second-split gaze at me before turning away.

Soon, I reached a part of the City that went past stone stairs, which led to the top of the wall. Out of curiosity, I walked up the stone stairs.

After reaching the top, I could feel the wind growing stronger as my hair was pushed back with greater force. I clumsily stopped in front of a stone barrier and watched the beautiful ocean.

The ocean current was quite turbulent near the island, but some distance away, it was calm and peaceful.

''Hey you, kid, get out of there!'' A stern voice echoed across the sky. I turned my head and saw marine running on top of the wall, coming straight toward me!

'Oh shit.' I ran back to the stairs and quickly reached the bottom. I still heard the sound of shoes tapping against the stone.

I quickly turned to the left and ran in the somewhat busy streets. I accidentally collided with several soldiers that didn't look pleased.

I quickly hid my face, and they couldn't get a glimpse of me.

After running for several minutes, I hid in a dark alleyway, where a scent of garbage wafted to my nose.

Soon, a soldier ran past the alleyway, looking around with a confusing look. After not finding the black-haired kid anywhere, he turned around and left.

I quickly left the alleyway and weaved through the crowd of people. Soon, I was back at the residence.

After entering the building, Lotus was shuffling the papers with furrowed brows. I gave a quick salute and rushed upstairs. Then, I entered the room and lay down on my bed.

The exhaustion was slowly piling up.

''Whew… That was close…'' I murmured.

Then, the light in the ceiling began flickering before slowly dying out.

The door to our room was locked tightly, and the curtains were draped over the windows. It seemed that it was time when the lights were killed off for tonight.

However, we were allowed to stay awake for another half an hour.

The chore boy's voices entered my ears. They began talking with each other, and they seemed very excited about something called Summit War of Marineford.

One of the chore boys stood up in his bed and proclaimed, ''One day when I have grown stronger, I will hunt down Monkey D. Luffy and defeat him!''

Nearby chore boys snickered and threw pillows at him.

''What are you guys talking about?'' I asked while slowly sitting up.

''War of the Best,'' Peter said with a shy tone. He was also listening to the conversation but didn't partake in it.

''What is that?''

Suddenly, the chore boys looked at me strangely, like I was some kind of exotic water animal, never before seen in the world.

''Have you lived under a rock?'' One of the chore boys said with a slightly rude tone. He had terse blond hair with bushy eyebrows and was athletically built.

''It depends,'' I responded.

Peter then leaned closer to me and whispered. Every sentence brought a shock to my face and made my heart restless.

'Wow… There was a war of such caliber? People able to create earthquakes, and ships crashing down from the sky…'

Then, my eyes widened in amazement after Peter finished talking about who was fighting.

''What, the battle between Marines and pirates? There are pirates?!'' Peter's eyes showed a reflection of my excited face.

The chore boys almost got floored. They didn't know whether I was joking or not.

''Are you joking?!'' The youth with bushy brows asked with a high-pitched tone.

I shook my head.

''Ahem…'' Peter cleared his throat and said, ''Yes, there are pirates, and they are vile beings!''

''Ooooh!''

''Anyway…'' The youth with bushy brows shook his head and continued.

''Now that Whitebeard is dead, the sea will be a safer place!''

''How long ago was the war?'' I asked Peter.

''Five months ago,'' Peter replied, and I nodded.

''The last headquarters was left in ruins after the war, and Fleet Admiral Akainu decided to relocate the base.''

''Yeah!'' One cheerful youth said with sparkling eyes, ''Fleet Admiral Akainu and Former Admiral Aokiji fought for the Fleet Admiral position, which lasted for 10 days!''

''Ten days?!'' My jaw-dropped. How could anyone keep fighting for that long?!

The chore boys kept talking about more amazing stories, and each one brought a shock to my face. Soon, the time to go to sleep arrived.

I lay down on the bed without putting the blanket over me. Instead, I opened the interface and checked the time. My eyes widened in shock after seeing that I had been online for two hours.

After seeing that everyone had become quiet, I pressed log out and soon disappeared into a floating pile of particles.
