When I woke up I was tired, because I couldn't sleep properly out of excitement about my new weapon. I was like a little kid that got a new toy, and it was also a pretext to run away from the problem. It made me partially forget the decision I had to make.
I went to get my last bath for a while, then to also eat my last proper, warm meal for a while. It was kinda sad because I enjoyed both of those things, but resigning from those luxuries became something natural for me.
It was strange because back on earth I would never be able to do the things I was doing in this world every day. I transformed into something new.
Then I started the preparations, and just before I was about to depart from the city center, Hatta paid me a visit.
- Morning Peter. Why are you leaving so soon? You barely spend any time in the city. Is it because of what Amit told you? Is it because you are upset at us for what we did behind your back? I... - he sighed. - We knew that you would disagree, and that was the best choice we could possibly make.
It was bothering him clearly since he gave me all this monologue without even letting me answer.
- Morning. No. I got my weapon from Rishi, and want to test it. That's all.
- That sounds more like an excuse to me.
- Look Hatta... I'm pissed off that you didn't trust me enough to just come with this to me, but I understand. Remember when we had to deal with Blue, and he was scheming? Remember when you wouldn't back down from the whole trial nonsense? I didn't trust your judgment about him back then either and decided to act in secret. So I kinda have no right to just flip the table or stamp my foot.
He smiled a bit.
- Maybe that's a signal, that we should start really trusting each other? We have been repeating this over and over, just to do the same thing.
- Yeah. Fortunately, this time nothing exploded out of that. I give it a thought... That messiah bullshit... It's not like I'm on the clock anyway, I have time to put it together in my head. If that crazy bitch starts doing something stupid, just tell her that, ok?
- Ok. Thank you. Good luck out there. Bring us many crystals - he said with a smirk.
- What a materialistic asshole you are.
He laughed it off and went back to where he came from. I left, heading towards the bear territory. On the way, I started considering to go deeper, into the unknown if this new pudao would prove to be as useful as I wished it to be.
The weapon was really feeling nice in my hand and gave me this strange feeling of being powerful. I swung it few times as my shadows dealt with pulling the carts for me, and it also felt promising. With each swing, there was this nice sound that I only can compare to sharpening a blade. "Shing". "Shing".
For a moment I wanted to try it on one of the walls, of ruined buildings I was passing by, but then I thought that might be stupid, and in the end, didn't proceed.
Closer to the gate I got more focused, suspecting Ki'rei to show up, and she did. In the form of my chicken. Without a word, she jumped on the cart, and I didn't even have to stop.
We made it to the wolf hunting ground and caught Blue's group that was already in the middle of dealing with few animals. I joined them briefly, to test my weapon, and I have to say, it worked magnificently. I was able with one swing cut the entire beast in half. It was cutting bones like butter.
It even caught the eyes of Blue, who came to ask if it's Rishi's creation. I confirmed, and we immediately parted our ways, both not fond of each other company.
I kept pushing further, trying my best to avoid killing the beasts, but sometimes there was just no other choice. I left the crystals, as usual.
Around an hour or two into the night, we reached the place where we set up our camp. I used my ability to produce flame to get us enough light not only for travel, but also to get our things in place before going to sleep. Ki'rei turned back to her original form, and came to me, pointing at my weapon:
- What is that? It's new. It's sharp. It's dangerous.
- A friend made it for me. It's magical.
She twisted her head from side to side a few times, with eyes stuck firmly on the pudao. Then she pulled a curved knife, looking like a claw of some kind. She looked at it, then back at my blade.
- What? - I asked. - Don't tell me you want me to get you a weapon like that?
She opened her mouth slightly, showing the small, sharp teeth in even rows. Her eyes become wide and all sparkly.
- I can't get you one. You are supposed to be a secret, arent you? What if your masters find out? Or even worse, what if somebody from the city finds out about you?
She puffed while frowning. I was expecting that she is going to stomp her leg, and walk away, but she didn't. She kept looking me straight in the eyes.
- Oh shit... Fine. I'll get you one. Just stop that.
She smiled.
- Thank you, Peter.
- Just go to sleep.
- I'm hungry.
I sighed, fed her, and ate as well. She seemed so happy while filling her belly. I'm not gonna lie, she was very cute.
Then we crawled under the cart. Me as me, and she as a chicken.
The day came to an end with 4 052 290 points remaining on my account, and thirty-eight class points.
