I thought that I might have another vision, but I was wrong. I didn't even dream that night. I just suddenly woke up to the knocking on the wall.
Opening my eyes brought this uncomfortable sensation like I had some sand under my eyelids. I got up, turned the barriers, and got outside, just to see all of the people gathered in front of the building. It was still grey, but the sunrise was coming. Or maybe it was already here, and the mountains were throwing at us their shadow. I knew too little bout this place, to really tell.
The knocking person was Alexandra, with a slightly open mouth. She quickly dropped the stone she used to knock on the wall and swallowed her spit nervously.
- Yeah? - I asked.
- W-who... W-who a-are you?
- I thought we already had the introduction behind us, but maybe I was wrong. I'm Peter - I extended my hand.
It was hard to keep a straight face, as a little smirk stubbornly tried to curve my lips.
- You know what I'm asking about - she responded.
- Did you bring us here? - asked somebody, but I ignored them.
- How about we all have a nice breakfast with the crystals from tomorrow's night, and then talk about what's going to come next. You mentioned that if you kill enough monsters stronger ones will come, yes?
- Y-yes - she nodded.
- Great - I said, and started moving forward, all of them parted, to let me pass through.
- Hey! - Slaven exploded as he couldn't stand it anymore. - Who the hell are you?!
I turned towards him while activating 'Shadow fusion' and 'Eyes of the Void'. The thick void essence started slowly drifting away from my body, like black smoke. My eyes went completely black, and on top of that, I smiled at him.
- I'm your best friend.
He took one step back as fear paralyzed his body.
- AAAA!! - Somebody from the crowd screamed.
This made me want to play with them a little bit more, so I summoned my shadows, letting them crawl out of the shadows of people around. As soon as they noticed, everybody started screaming and panicking.
- AAAAA!!
- Please!
- Please no!
- Spare us!
- Just a prank bro - I said, and using my new fancy 'Shadow reach', patted him on the shoulder, because I wouldn't be able to reach normally, while turning off the rest of the skills, and making my minions disappear. - Who is buying food?
I kept walking forward, without waiting for the response, then I noticed crystals piled by the device. I also still had a few of them in my pockets from last night. I bought myself an orange, and turned around, peeling off the skin. They followed after me and were standing a dozen steps away, frozen, observing my every move.
- Oh, c'mon guys, It was just a joke.
Alexandra moved after my words, she made it to the front of the crowd, cautiously.
I made myself a chair out of the void essence and sat on it. Crossed my legs, and while still peeling off the orange skin replied:
- That's quite a long story, but to summarize it all, I'm just like you, from the earth. With a little pit stop in a world similar to this one. Although our device works a bit differently... The important thing is, I didn't pull you here, and I'm not a monster.
- You upgraded yourself with the ball? - asked Slaven, coming to the front.
I immediately pointed at him.
- Exactly! - then I finally broke off a piece of the orange and put it in my mouth.
- Wait. How did you end up here, then?
I sighed. There was no way I'm gonna tell them about aliens and all that messed up situation. Besides The Great Asshole didn't want me to mention him, which made me really want to, but on the other hand, I didn't want to risk my friends' lives.
- We were attempting to go back to earth, but I ended up here. You could call it a happy accident. Happy because I can help you not die guys.
- You are gonna help us? - asked one of the newcomers.
He seemed positively surprised.
- I have ten days. Well... Eight right now. I'll help you get some crystals, so you can make yourselves stronger, and stop the death loop.
- And what do you want in exchange? - asked Alexandra.
- I'll take a double cheeseburger with fries.
- I'm asking seriously.
I finished my orange, before answering, then stood up, and came a bit closer.
- Let's make something clear - I said to her, but paying more attention to the crowd behind. - I can take from you anything you possess. Anything. Whenever I want, and you won't stop me. So explain to me how do you exactly want to trade when you don't have anything to offer?
She stepped back, with eyes wide open, scared. I winked at her. I actually wanted to scare the people behind her, so they wouldn't have any stupid ideas. Keeping them on the edge was very useful if I wanted them to listen. At least that's what I thought.
She was confused by the mixed signals I was sending her.
- Don't think too much about it - I said, and shadow walked, to put my hand on her shoulder.
She was terrified, trembling. She slowly rose her head, to look at my face.
Then I shadow walked again, past her.
- Ok, kids. Time to eat. Fill your stomachs, because we will have a busy night. You will be trying your best not to die, and collecting the spoils of war. I want you all to stay here, so you won't accidentally day while you are away hiding like nasty little cowards you are. We will be making hunter out of you today. Not the cheap knockoffs made by Slaven ones, but legit ones, made by me.
I looked carefully at them after those words. They didn't move even a bit.
- Now, chop, chop - I clapped my hands two times, but it didn't work.
Then I created a baseball bat in my hands with void essence.
