I woke up in the morning, and did my usual routine, thinking all the time about Xuvi and Ki'rai. Even for a moment, I didn't think about Maia. For me, she wasn't even close to being a threat. I was so damn confident of my own power, that even Blue could be barely in the realm of my enemies. For me, back then, there was The Great One, and Xuvi, as I had no idea about what they had at their disposal.
I prepared everything and departed to hunt. There was no reason to waste time waiting. I cleared both the graveyard and the lizardfolk settlement, without bosses of course. It was way easier this way.
The next day everything repeated itself. I returned kinda expecting Ki'rai to show up, but she wasn't there. I started slowly getting worried, but nevertheless, I went hunting the very next day, and a day after. Just to find out a creature in my room, similar to Ki'rai, appearance-wise. There were slight differences though.
- Who are you? - I asked immediately.
The creature slowly came closer and handed me a letter, written on paper. I immediately started reading, as he turned away to leave, but I closed the shutters with my 'Telekinesis' skill, and created flame in my hand, to bring the light back.
"Dear Peter
We are extremely disappointed by the fact of your betrayal of our cause. It seems like you lack an understanding of the seriousness of this matter. We don't. We are well aware of the consequences, which forces our hand to take adequate measures. As we know how dearly our soldier, C-27, is to you, we are going to keep her with us if you won't deposit the agreed amount of crystals. You have ten days. Do not force our hand any further.
Shu'ah Oot Atso Yeingem"
I immediately looked at Ki'rai's relative. They didn't seem really present, or maybe completely indifferent would be a better way to describe them. The eyes were blankly looking ahead, at the shutters. I opened them, and he left.
- Fuck - escaped my mouth.
They hit me where it hurt. I never expected them to use Ki'rai in such an undirected way. I wasn't sure of what to do, but I was sure of one thing. I wouldn't let them hurt her.
I turned around, and left my room, to go straight to Hatta's office. The guards let me in, and I found him over some papers, reading in the light provided by an olive lamp.
- Something happened? - he asked raising his eyes.
My facial expression probably was a clear enough indication that something indeed happened. I came closer, without a single word, and put the letter in front of him. He picked it up and started leading. His lips were moving without a single sound, as the eyes traveled over the letters.
- Fuck - he said.
- That's exactly what I said after reading this.
- Who brought you that?
- One of their soldiers. Lizard-like creature, just like her.
Hatta sighed heavily, leaning back in his chair.
- Are you going to give them what they are asking for?
- Do I have a choice?
He shrugged his shoulders but shortly after started to rummage through the papers on his gest. He quickly found a blank one and started writing with charcoal.
"They are hiding pretty deep underground. I won't be able to get there. Besides they might hurt her if I try to do that", I replied.
"Maybe during the exchange?"
"There won't be any exchange. They might even wait until I leave to pick the crystals. Those people are cautious."
"I'll talk with Blue, maybe he will come up with something."
"Don't. I'll take care of this by myself."
He sighed again.
- If you need any support...
- I'll get the crystals by myself. Just organize me space where I can store them before I get enough.
- I'll do that. I guess you won't be going anywhere today, so I'll have it prepared for tomorrow.
- Thank you.
We exchanged nods, and I left. With every step, as I was returning to my room, I was getting angrier and angrier. I wanted to punch something, but that could have pretty bad consequences, so I didn't.
I needed a plan on how to get inside their base. "If only I could put it on a moving object, or creature" - I thought to myself. There was an option I could because I actually never tried that. I rushed to my room, to put the anchor on a chair, and tried to move it, but that damn thing stayed in place.
After that, I summoned one of my shadows and used the skill on him, but it didn't work again, as the anchor remained in place.
- Fuck - I said to myself.
"If only I can place it in the elevator, then I win" - I thought. There was a chance for that. I just needed an occasion, but Ki'rai knew my skills, and probably informed them, so they wouldn't rise it if I were close. Maybe I was wrong on this, but taking the worst outcome and building my plan on it was promising a bigger chance for success.
I wondered for a moment if there is somebody in the city with a skill that would allow me to get there, but I quickly dismissed that idea. Then I thought of a 'somebody' that definitely had an ability to let me get where I wanted to go. The Great One.
- Hey! I know you are somewhere there. I need your help.
Nothing.
- I'll do whatever you won't just help me this once.
Nothing.
- Fuck.
I realized immediately, that I was always contacted through the dream, and maybe there was more to that than just not revealing themselves.
I jumped to my bed and tried to fall asleep, but in my state that wasn't an easy thing to achieve. I needed to calm down. I focused on my breathing and started slowly counting, but sleep wasn't coming.
The day came to an end with 9 148 400 points remaining on my account, and ninety-one class points.
