I had the exact same freaking situation when facing the lizardfolk boss for the first time, and I found a way to win that fight despite the incredibly strong defenses. This time, though, the situation was quite tougher, since his shell was almost completely covering his body, leaving only small cracks here and there.
But that was actually something I could work with. All I needed was to time my attack with the movement of his defenses, and judge the angle correctly, which was making it very difficult, but not impossible.
I tried few times, using the skill, and making my blade pop out on the other side, passing through The Void, and failed. He realized what I was doing very quickly, and made the crystals start moving around him, to make my tactic even less likely to work than before.
- Fuck you - I said, as I jumped backward to gain some distance.
- Rahahahaha! - he responded with a laugh.
For I second I really considered nuking him with fire magic. He wouldn't be able to withstand that, just as, probably, the rest of the arena.. But as I was considering this option, I caught the very hard-to-miss figure on the horizon, above the arena. A giant freaking moloch, who was standing there, and doing completely nothing since I summoned his lazy ass.
A nasty smirk crawled on my face, as I moved to gain even more distance, shadow walking past through annoying undead ranks all around me. They gave me a bit of space, as I was very close to Gavriil, but with more distance between us, their magic was flying towards me once again. I avoided it all and made the big guy finally put his size into use.
He growled deafeningly, and rose his fist, then leaned forward over the arena, blocking the light almost completely, and dragged his hand down from the sky, smacking into Semenov. The impact shook the ground, and send the sand everywhere, covering the whole arena with a cloud of dust. Even I was blasted and destroyed another large screen, as I smacked straight into it with my back.
Then I fell down and landed gracefully on the ground.
When it finally settled down all the undead were laying flat on the concrete slab, which was partially just decimated by the moloch's strike. My shadows got completely destroyed in the attack too.
I made him move his fist, to reveal Gavriil barely holding onto his life, pressed into the stone in a very awkward, and definitely uncomfortable position. His bones seemed to be broken, and he was bleeding, but not much, since most of the blood was used on forming the crystals and sprayed thin in the air with the powerful slam.
I slowly approached him. He was very much alive, groaning out of pain, but there were slow indicators of him regenerating himself. I boosted it with a heal a bit, then sighed and used 'Renewal' immediately wondering if I will regret that in the future or not.
He lat ou a moan, as his body got reassembled by my magic, then he gasped for air, coughing some blood that had to be stuck in his throat or lungs. He wiped it out with this sleave and gazed at me in silence.
- I guess it's my win - I said, not really knowing what to say.
He nodded slowly.
It was kinda awkward, so I looked around and noticed how much damage oud fight caused. Only a few screens were working. I couldn't see any drones in the air. The walls seemed mostly intact. I canceled my skills, sending back the moloch, and turning off the constant inflow of the void essence, alongside the wall of swirling blackness surrounding the whole area.
It immediately became brightened.
The faces of the audience were showing clear shock. Some people just watched in silence with mouths wide open, others were pointing at, probably, the screen, and talking to others. I knew that I'm going to be on people's tongues from now on, as a very interesting topic to talk about.
- I'm gonna go - I said to Semenov.
He nodded again. I noticed that he picked himself up to a sitting position, and was also looking around, at the destruction of the arena.
I slowly walked my way towards the stairs, and then underground. The members of the broadcasting staff made a path for me without any words. I noticed the fear on their faces.
- Thanks - I replied, heading straight to my room.
At that moment one of the doors to other rooms opened, and Will came out, to give me a thumbs up.
- But next time don't fuck up the arena, there are other people who want to use id, ok? - he said.
- I'll consider it.
He smiled at me and went back. Then I finally opened the door to my own waiting room, scaring the shit out of Vikram. I have no idea why he reacted lit that, but he did. Maybe the stuff I showcased in the arena made him suddenly scared of me.
- H-hey! Congratulations on the win... - he said awkwardly.
- Thanks - I responded as I went straight to the fridge to get myself something to drink.
- I-it was quite intense. Can you... What was that... The big...
- Moloch, my pet.
- Oh... Y-you can control that? Because... N-nevermind.
- Because what? - I asked with a can of soda in my hand, as I closed the fridge, and turned towards him.
- N-nothing...
- Come on Vikram. Squeeze it out.
- Ok... It's quite freaking big, and as much as I'm scared of the other ones, this one is just terrifying. If that will go loose, who is going to stop that?
- Relax it won't go loose. I can send it - Just as he said that I remembered the moment from the past, when my own shadows attacked me, just because my 'Void authority' wasn't strong enough. - I can send it back at any moment, besides, it's completely loyal.
He nodded slowly.
- On top of that I would still have ways of dealing with it - I added.
