Suddenly a loud humming noise came from the sky, as another ship came diving down. The soldiers got surprised and raised their guns. Even some of us dicked a bit, but the vessel stopped, and then much slowly landed next to the other one.
The descent was quite gracious, and the humming got quieter. Everybody stopped to admire the view.
We continued our walk, as soon as the engines finally stopped working. The military made a space for us, as we approached the ships. There were small groups of aliens around an open hold of the first ship.
They were tall with bulbous heads and black, big eyes on the sides. The faces looked reptilian but were quite slim with needle-like teeth bared at the humans. Their skin was light brown, and they were wearing plastic-like breastplates on grey uniforms underneath. Their legs were bare though, and for me looked similar to what I saw watching films about dinosaurs.. With the small difference. They didn't have thick skin, but scales. Each one of their four toes was armed with a claw.
They also had small bags on their waists and were holding guns. Quite strange-looking, but still similar to ours. For me, those looked more like toys than real weaponry. Stuff I saw on TV, made for kids to play around.
Up above, where the ramp was leading inside the ship, there was a space specially prepared for transporting troops. There were spots to sit alongside the walls of the ship, but also in the middle in two rows with belts tie yourself to your designated spot. Easly few dozen people could fit in one of those aircrafts. Besides that, there was nothing else there.
As we passed the line of soldiers, one of the aliens emerged from the closes cluster. He took something out of the bag and put it on his ear. It was barely visible even from a close distance since it was very close to the creature's skull. Then he pulled out another thing, that looked like a mouthpiece, and planted it on his lower teeth
Then he spoke in a strange, alien language, that immediately was translated by the piece of technology placed in his mouth. The Englis sounded quite artificial, like some speech synthesizer, but worked quite well, except a few spelling mistakes here and there.
- Greetings humans. I'm Shork Tazzar, the company commander of this escorting division. I will take you to our command unit vessel up in the air. You will then use our warp gate to travel to the military base on Grand Dispur, the capital planet of our civilization - he explained. - Please board the transporter.
- Uhm... - started Martin. - I don't think I will fit into that.
He pointed at the sits, with his enormous hand. With his size, he was towering not only above us but also above them.
- You will have to sit on the floor - said the alien.
He clearly wasn't giving a shit about us and just fulfilling his orders. The gazes of his men were quite vicious like they really wanted to fight us. A concern if going with them was really a good idea was slowly growing in me. Will had to notice, as his hand landed on my shoulders.
- Let's go guys. Let's show them what we are made of - he said.
- Aye, captain! - shouted Boris.
Our whole group started moving, and we got closer to the ship. Then Shork Tazzar led us up the ramp and pointed at the seats.
- Sit here, and buckle the belts - he told us with the strange, and quite annoying, synthesized voice.
We followed his words. I saw the assistants and agent Karol going through the exact same thing, as they were boarding the other vessel.
The aliens joined us, taking random spots in the free seats. Observing us, but not doing anything else. They were on high alert, as though all the time more than half of them had guns in their hands, even as they were sitting down and fastening the seatbelts. I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
Will's keen eyes tracked every move of the aliens.
The loud humming hit us, alarming everybody, as a third ship landed, while the ramp of our vessel was being pulled up.
There was a slight vibration when the engines of our means of transportation got started, and we soon felt the tingling in ouch stomach, as the aircraft started rising above the ground. It was surprisingly quiet inside, considering how much noise those machines were making while landing.
While I was busy looking around Nil, and Martin attempted to talk with the aliens, but they were ignored. It was quite obvious that those guys were hostile towards us, but they were also following the orders, and their discipline was flawless.
- The travel will take a few minutes - Shork Tazzar informed us. - Please be patient.
- That's quite fast considering the distance to your other ships - Will pointed out.
His words were ignored. The alien company commander wasn't going to engage in a chat with any of us. It was as plain as a day.
My body relaxed, as we flew through the air because I wasn't feeling like we were moving at all. It was like sitting on a bench in the park. The flow of time on the other hand was very noticeable. Each second felt like an hour. All of us and all of them were on the edge, watching each other.
And then, suddenly, the Shork Tazzar spoke again.
- We will be landing shortly. Please prepare - he informed.
I felt it. We were slowing down, and then we changed direction a bit. The tingling feeling in my belly returned. Then I felt a slight tug and with the quiet metallic sound, the ramp started going down.
- We arrived - the alien company commander informed us and unbuckled his seatbelt.
We did the same, like the rest of the soldiers, while our eyes remained glued to the view that was slowly being uncovered for us, as the ramp went lower and lower.
