We had to wait for a bit before the first fighter appeared in the arena. There was no introduction, no music, or anything like that. It was actually one of the Furuli we had the displeasure to meet before. He was holding a weapon similar to my pudao, which was emitting a strange purple light around the blade, that was actually shorter compared to my weapon. Even with that, he wasn't looking that impressive compared to the quite eccentric Gavriil Semenov who entered the arena like he owned it.
He stopped for a moment, pulled the sunglasses slightly down as he looked at his opponent, then smiled, pushed them back, and kept walking until he finally reached the spot he wanted to start the fight from.
Soon after that a loud sound, similar to a gong, signalized the beginning of the battle.
Semenov waved his hand, summoning two coffins, as the alien charged at him. The lids fell off, and two soldiers immediately charged at the alien avoiding swings of his weapon with ease and quickly delivering a couple of deadly blows. The blood sprayed around, but Gavriil didn't stop his minions, letting them massacre the enemy as he looked slightly upwards, ahead of him.
- What the heck is he looking at? - asked Will..
As he said that the holoprojection backed up a bit, revealing the walls of the arena and two important figures watching from above. They both were surrounded by guards. One was familiar to us alien, Ashal Kal Anur.
The other was a fat creature of deeply green skin with frog-like face short legs, and hands. He was wearing golden clothes, with a small but intricate circle around his head. It was made of silver and precious gems that actually were taking most of the space.
He was sitting in some levitating vehicle similar to a chair in some ways, but not exactly, that was supporting his back.
He was surrounded by the royal guard, some other aliens we have never seen before, and a couple of ones that we did. They were the same species as Katri Xel Avakadaisu and were wearing the same clothes.
He opened his large mouth and spoke something we couldn't understand, as the sound was actually provided, then he waved his hand.
- I think that's Zor'xal - said Adam.
- You might be right - agreed Tai.
Another Furuli warrior entered the arena, and the second fight started very soon. He ended in a very similar manner. Being hacked to pieces by the merciless undead warriors.
After him came next to one, and another, and another, and another... The tactic of our opponents became obvious.
- Is he really gonna keep sending them? - asked Will. - They all are going to die. How many does he even have?
A quick glance on the emotionless face of the alien ruler was enough for me and the others, to know for sure, that there were plenty of soldiers willing to give their lives for this pointless cause.
- Sooner or later he will realize that this is not going to work - Tai pointed out. - Gavriil's soldiers are not getting tired.
That was really the case. Fifteen dead aliens in, and there was no indication that the undead was in any worse shape than when the whole thing started.
Zor'xal had to realize that, and he spoke again. One of the aliens in his envoy nodded, and they left their spot. Meanwhile, another soldier entered the arena and was brutally murdered by the undead, which caused the vampire to laugh maniacally.
- You morons! - he yelled. - No matter how many of them you have there, I'll kill them all! They are nothing to me! I'll grind their bodies, and smear their meet all over this arena! I'll make myself a throne out of their bones!
- Wow... He really is crazy - said Martin.
- No, he is smart - Tai pointed out. - He is trying to discourage them, so they would give up. It won't work, though. They will just change their tactic. If the quantity is not working, they will use the quality.
- Why are you so sure about that? - I asked him.
He just gave me a 'seriously?' look, and then his eyes moved back to the holoprojection.
- I feel like we are going to spend here quite a while - said Boris.
- You might be right. I'm starting to get worried about what is happening back on earth - said Adam.
Will immediately looked at me. I nodded, dropped an anchor and shadow walked back to the lobby in the hotel located all the way in Cairo to scare the shit out of its guests. I quickly grabbed one of the workers and learned that everybody is watching our fight in the strange alien world. With this I went back to the rest of the hunters, surprising those who had no idea I could do something like that.
- Earth is fine - I communicated.
- Good. So we just have to deal with this - said Adam as his worried expression vanished when he exhaled the air in his lungs.
At the same moment, another opponent entered the arena, but it wasn't one of the Furuli soldiers. It was a large creature with deep blue skin, hammerhead-shark-like head, and large, sharp teeth clearly visible even when the mouth was closed. It had a thick, muscular neck. And was wearing a scrappy, plastic-like armor. The maul in its hand was large and had spikes on both ends of the head of the hammer.
Iw hailed loudly, spreading its arm in an obvious try to intimidate the vampire, but Gavriil only get more excited. He smiled, showing his fangs, and took off the sunglasses revealing red eyes with a hint of insanity showing in them.
- At least he doesn't seem scared - said Will.
- I think he really is a crazy person - said Nobuo.
- Crazy or not. I hope he can smash that thing, and whatever comes next - said Adam.
The sound of the gong cut our conversation. The large alien wailed again and charged straight at the smiling hunter, who with a move ho his hand, summoned more coffins. The two of his minions rushed to intercept the colossus.
