Leonel came in the morning, but I told him he should go hunting instead. I made sure to explain to him that I had to do the enchantments, so there wouldn't be anything to do for him anyway. He accepted that, then left to join the rest.
I used the little break to pick up the stones from Fin. After all, I had no idea how much time it would take me to finish everything, so it was a good idea to empty the automaton's storage before focusing on the task ahead of me.
This started a long process of several days, which I would almost completely spend on infusions of the armor. The only breaks I took were for eating, shitting, and picking up the crystals, but eventually, things were done, and I was able to focus on the last part. The 'Rune-graving' process.
It added a few days to the pile.
I also, quite quickly, made one massive maul from the same alloy the armor was created. I didn't enchant it, because I just wanted to get the golem going as fast as possible, and the weapon was necessary.
The only thing left was to assemble everything, then test if it worked properly. It was early morning when I was ready to start the process, so I quickly rushed to my house, where the family was busy eating breakfast. I bought them in the middle of a lively conversation.
- Hi honey - Celestine greeted me.
- Hi - I said and smiled at her.
At this point I really missed her, but the work needed to be done as soon as possible.
- Well, I have almost everything done for the second golem, so I thought that maybe Leonel would like to put it all together with me - I said. - But since I came here already, I might as well grab a bite.
- You should grab a shower - Carmelita said, then slightly smiled.
I sniffed my armpits. To put it short, I can confirm, I should have grabbed a shower first.
- I'll be right back - I informed them, then left to wash.
After I came back, there was only Leonel at the table. He was clearly waiting for me and had a big sandwich with a lot of stuff packed inside. It was really substantial.
- Mom made you something to eat - he told me. - They went hunting already.
I sighed, as I wanted to spend some time with them, but they had their own schedule. There was nothing else to do but eat the food.
- I'll eat this quickly, and then let's assemble the golem - I said to him.
He smiled at me in response.
Then I sat down. As I was devouring the sandwich, Leonel brought a notebook to the dining room. He seemed quite excited.
- I did some new sketches - he told me. - You told us before about the monsters you found, and you were working on fire elementals at first, then water elementals, so I thought about making something to fight the earth elementals.
He quickly turned some pages, then showed me a sketch. It was something quite similar to the bigger mix of a crocodile and the dragons in the tier-two hunting grounds around Petrograd. Basically a humanoidal dragon, and it even had a tail, and a proper draconic head.
- Carmelita gave me an idea. She said if you heat something up, and then you cool it down fast, it breaks easier, so thought the golem could breathe fire, and use freezing rays, like the ones you already made. He could have an impact weapon in his right hand too. The tail could help stabilize the construction during the heavy hits - he explained.
- You just wanted the tail, didn't you? The stabilization is bullshit - I said looking at the sketch.
He smiled.
- It looks cooler this way.
His words made me chuckle, and I almost choke on the sandwich. After soughing up a little, I got a hold of myself, then analyzed the sketches some more while finishing the food.
- I like the idea about fire and size - I summarized. - But we might have to figure out something else about the impact weapon... We could do a similar construction we made for the golem designed for the water elementals, just add those elements you want so badly... Hmm... Maybe something causing vibrations? Like a sonic gun, and on top of it a good old school heavy hammer? What do you think?
- Yes! That sounds great! - he said.
His smile told me that I already had him. He was so excited to work on the thing after waiting so long, that it made me look forward to the job. We could finally properly bond.
- Ok. Let's assemble the new robot, test it, and in the meantime talk this new project through. Maybe we will come up with some new ideas. When we return, we should do some designing - I pointed out.
- Yes! - he almost jumped.
Like that, we left the house, and the work began. It took us some time because there were many parts. Some needed to be dealt with carefully because the precision was needed to make them all fit together, but thanks to 'Telekinesis' and our enhanced physiques, we were able to deal with any issues.
- Time to name it - I said when we finished.
- Icebreaker! - Leonel said immediately.
I almost snorted. It quite well summarized what the automaton was about, but was a little bit too cheesy. He seemed to be happy about the name like he thought it through for a while already.
- Ok - I agreed. - Icebreaker it is. Let's go test it.
So we left via shadow walk, and for a few hours watching how the Icebreaker dealt with the water elementals. Freezing them and crushing them for the most part. Each time he got overwhelmed by the numbers, he utilized his ability to control water, and the earth magic, to make room necessary to deal with them.
The conclusions I came to from the first project were basically spot on, which allowed me to design everything well, and it worked as I intended.
We took the crystals from the golem and returned to begin designing the third one.
