“Even if it’s…” she quickly fell into step beside him and stopped what she was about to say, pausing for dramatic effect, “about your goddess.”

Several females and even Long Di himself froze when they heard this.

  ****

Long Di could have sworn that he felt more than one cold gaze piercing into the back of his head when Yaomu Shou said what she just said.

“You… have the goddess?” Long Di asked, his tone taking on a slightly more serious tone.

Yaomu Shou revealed a wide smile when she heard how seriously Long Di asked this question. Based on how important this ‘goddess’ was to him, she could ask Long Di for many favors, “Hmph, that’s right!”

“Great, then keep her,” Long Di gave her a thumbs up and then continued on his way, and just like that, all sense of seriousness was gone.

“Pu Ci!” Yaomu Shou nearly coughed up blood in response. Wasn’t this Mina Tempesta a ‘goddess’ to him? Someone that meant a whole lot to him!? Was this how one treated the goddesses in their hearts!?

Meanwhile, Long Di could hear more than one sigh of relief from around him. He didn’t think too deeply about what was causing them to act up in this way and simply went on his way.

“Come on! You don’t have to lie to me!” Yaomu Shou refused to give up so easily. “She’s someone important to you right? Tell you what, why don’t you follow me back home, when we’re done and you too can meet up!”

This was her plan in the beginning. At first, she wanted to use benefits to lure Long Di to her residence, but using someone that he knew was as good a way as any. This way she didn’t have to use up the favor he owed her after she saved the disciples from him, during that incident at that not-relic.

“Meh,” was Long Di’s response. Though Yaomu Shou didn’t have an idea as to what ‘meh,’ means, it had a profound and aloof air about it that made it abundantly clear that Long Di couldn’t care less about what she was talking about.

Instantly her mood fell and she became pouty, as she was unable to get a handle on Long Di. However, she wouldn’t force him. She already had a favor from him when she protected the disciples in his stead and knew he was just playing with her… hopefully. He wasn’t an easy person to read.

“We need to talk and I have a feeling you’re more than well informed,” Long Di said.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don’t mind, but could you do me a favor and just heal yourself a little faster?” Yaomu Shou wasn’t against talking, but Long Di actually put his healing on pause whilst he spoke to her. And the creepy part about it was that he didn’t react to it in any way.

It had to be known that chunks of his flesh were torn from his body during his fight with Protector Gang, so the sight of him was a bit harrowing to anyone who was faint of heart. Yaomu Shou naturally wasn’t a part of this list but she still wished for Long Di to heal himself.

“You’re probably right,” Long Di nodded before circulating his spiritual qi to heal his wounds. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. However, it would take a while for his wounds to reach an acceptable level, plus his robe was in tatters as well.

These robes weren’t even his, they were Jia Yan’s robes from when he was younger. He never brought robes with him on his trip through the rip in space orchestrated by that unholy bolt of lightning that crashed down upon him with all the overbearingness and fatality of an obese tree frog.

“Who did this to you, anyway?” she asked, slightly curious about his predicament. She didn’t mind helping if she could.

“It was people from the Zhen family. Do you know of them?” he asked.

Yaomu Shou wore a ponderous expression for a while before a look of recollection took over, “They’re that weak family who’s too big for their britches, aren’t they? Do you want this big sister to help you get rid of them?”

Long Di cast a side glance at her, knowing her intentions. “Am I going to owe you a favor for this?”

“Hmph!” Yaomu Shou snorted. “How could you make it seem so heartless and transactional?” Yaomu Shou chided, her face blushing a deeper shade of blue after being called out by Long Di. “It’s just a Zhen family. Fine! I will do it for you for free. How about that?”

“Great, kill Zhen Paohui for me,” said Long Di without reserve.

“Wow, okay, well… okay then.” Yaomu Shou was taken aback by his frank acceptance of her offer. Long Di was truly shameless and above-table with his wants, which made her feel very comfortable around him.

Long Di was well aware that in most cultivation novels, the MC would sometimes receive an offer of help from their friends or acquaintances with no strings attached. Yet for some inexplicable reason, they would refuse and use some stupid excuse like ‘There is no reason for [insert random character’s name here] to worry about this small matter. I will sort this out.’

Pffft! Why did he need to do this!? She was offering help, he accepted, pretty straightforward if you ask me.

Zi Yu, on the other hand, was frightened beyond belief. Did she just witness the closing of a deal that would end up with a great family being destroyed? Was it so simple and carefree to destroy great families nowadays?

“Anyway, what did you want to talk about?” Yaomu Shou asked after they confirmed the ‘small matter’ from before.

“You’re aware of the heavenly disturbance that took place not long ago, right?”

Yaomu Shou’s smile disappeared when she heard this, “Do you know about it?”

Even the elites in her family were alerted by this disturbance. Naturally, she would want to get as much information on this as possible.

“Not many things in this world can move me,” Long Di explained. “However, something wicked has entered this world.”

“What are you talking about?” Yaomu Shou was immensely confused.

Long Di pondered for a moment, before saying, “Let me tell you a story.”
