An oppressive feeling enveloped the entire sect as the owner of the voice’s wrath erupted!
“You dare!”
****
The sect master flew into a rage at Long Di’s choice to free the Shidashi Mao!
Its escape would obviously herald a level of casualty hitherto unseen. To him, this either signified the death of his sect, or the death of himself!
Neither of these options was acceptable to him!
Now that it came to this, he decided to kill Long Di!
Why!? Because 10% karmic retribution and 90% pettiness. Grave choices bore grave consequences!
Dum!
The suppressive pressure immediately rushed back in and bound Long Di!
Ktch!
Cracks appeared all over his body as the sect master sought to destroy him!
In that same instant, Feng Yu landed on Lord Whiskers’s nose and locked eyes with the beast.
“Meow…”
Curiously, Lord Whiskers didn’t move and simply stared at Feng Yu while she stared back. It was as if it was rooted in that spot.
Dum!
A booming heartbeat immediately assaulted everyone’s eardrums.
The sound caused the killing pressure bounding Long Di to loosen slightly.
“It couldn’t be…” the voice sounded awestruck at what was happening.
Dum!
The second heartbeat thundered aloud as Feng Yu’s expression went blank.
Chichichi…
The dark, almost black fur of Lord Whiskers faded until it turned to red, and then back to its original colour of white.
Not even the blood that stained it remained. The last remnants of red vanished from its eyes. However, it didn’t move from its spot, shocking everyone.
“So it’s true…” the voice stated after a moment of silence.
However, no one paid attention to it, they only stared at the happening before them.
Vrrrm!
Lord Whiskers’s eyes were like any other cat’s eyes and at that moment Feng Yu’s eyes transformed to match his.
At the same time, the suffocating, killing intent that Lord Whiskers naturally gave off calmed down till it was hard to sense.
This was not something that was normal, at least for the Shidashi Maos. They were creatures of calamity, considered so by most of the world, save for a fanatic few.
With Lord Whiskers changing and the same happening to Feng Yu, there was some sort of synchronicity taking place between the two.
Feng Yu’s cat ears twitched [check the author notes at the end] in response to this subtle transformation.
Her black hair then lightened in colour and grew to reach her upper back while her canine, gonna call it feline teeth, now grew out a small amount.
“Haaah,” she let out a small exhale and lost consciousness on Lord Whiskers’s nose after the change, forcing Long Di to break free of the now weak suppression to catch her in his small arms.
He stared at her, or more accurately, the changes she underwent, and inwardly commented how such slight alterations could change her appearance this much.
“She’s a Shidashi Linghun,” Yaomu Shou stated as she made her way over.
“Greetings to the Shidashi Linghun,” the voice echoed once more.
“Greetings to the Shidashi Linghun,” a chorus rang out as a shocking scene followed.
All the disciples, remaining elders, and protectors kneeled down in the direction of the unconscious Feng Yu.
“What’s a Shidashi Linghun?” Long Di finally asked.
“Clean up things here, and bring him over,” the voice gave its final command before its presence dissipated entirely.
Long Di walked all over their sect like it was his backyard and he was being allowed to leave!?
“Rude,” Long Di commented.
Shu!
After everyone stood up, one of the elder level existences rushed to the chief elder that was spat out following the Shidashi Mao’s trance-like state.
The rest of them that surrounded the Shidashi Mao quickly retreated and disappeared from view.
“Alright, the show’s over!” Some of the more well-known elders addressed the regular disciples and the inner court disciples that it was time to retreat to their abodes until everything was sorted.
Lord Whiskers finally relaxed, and upon seeing Feng Yu, licked her sleeping face with a purr.
“Incredible,” Yaomu Shou commented as she came beside Long Di.
“May I have a word with you?” An old demon came up to them and the Shidashi Mao with a wary expression.
“Want me to speak with your sect master?” Long Di asked.

The old demon said nothing and simply gestured for us to follow him.
Yaomu Shou nodded and urged me to follow him, and I did with her right behind me.
Before we left, I took a look and saw Yue Wang retreating with the rest of the disciples.
Krrrsh!
Before anyone could react, I immediately activated my physique and channelled the tribulation lightning to the tip of my finger.
I then condensed it as much as I could with my spiritual force to increase its penetrative force. I should probably transform this into a martial technique or something.
Before anyone could see or guess what I was going to do, I fired it off to the back of her head.
That’s right, I want to kill her. I will kill both men and women as I believe in equality.
Eeengh!
It whirled through the air like a divine spear en route to wipe out all devils.
“What the-”
Yaomu Shou was surprised that I dared to attack someone after just escaping death.
However, I cultivate pettiness just as much as everything else.
Her eyes widened as the spear closed in on her. Dread filled her as she appeared to see her life flash before her eyes.
Everyone else was shocked. They all couldn’t believe that I dared to attack Yue Wang so brazenly and out in the open.
Shu!
“You dare!”
Uncle Jianhuren infiltrated the path of the lightning tribulation spear and erected his defences.
“Little animal!” he covered his chest where the spear hit and barked at me while calling me an animal.
I tell ya, was this guy a pot calling the kettle black or what?
“Don’t think that just because the sect master has called for you that you’re allowed to do anything you want!”
“I will kill her,” I calmly announced.
When I saw this, I could see that his expression visibly changed under my gaze. Why that happened, I do not know and honestly, I couldn’t care less.
“Young warrior, please do not act further unbridled. This is not a place where you can act as you please.”
The old demon that came to guide me to where we needed to go turned and spoke to me with an indifferent expression.
“My apologies… I tripped.”
His right cheek twitched when I said that, so I think that means he believes me.
Everyone else stared at me the exact same way, so now I know I’m in the clear.
“L-Let’s go,” he uneasily urged me to go with him.
“Wait, where’s Zi Yu?” I just realised that Zi Yu was missing.
“We took her to receive treatment,” the old demon responded. “As we live our lives on the edge day after day, our medical treatment isn’t too bad, so you needn’t worry.”
Hearing this, I felt a bit more relieved and allowed him to take me, Yaomu Shou, Lord Whiskers and an unconscious Feng Yu on Lord Whiskers’s nose to where he wanted.
…
Uncle Jianhuren stared icily as Long Di disappeared from view. He then took his hand from his chest to reveal a small chest wound from where silver liquid flowed without end.
“Puah!” A mouthful of the silver liquid erupted as he dropped to his knee.
“Uncle Jianhuren!” Both Yue Wang and Liao Meng rushed to their protector’s side with worry on their faces.
“I’m fine!” Jianhuren assuaged their worries with a wave of his hand.
“Go back to your residences. Don’t come out until this entire thing is over,” he ordered them.
Their worries were cast away before it was replaced by rage. “This is not enough! He burst through the front doors of our sect and did whatever he wanted and now he’s being brought to a meeting!? He should be killed!”
“For once I agree with you, ninth sister!” Liao Meng said with a nod.
“This is not the time.” Jianhuren wanted them to forget about this for now. “Just go back to the core battlefield for now.”
Unresigned, they weren’t satisfied with this. “But-”
“Now!”
His roar silenced and forced them to listen to his orders. They finally left with a sour expression.
Normally, no one was able to order around Savage Taitan’s concubines, not even their protector. However, Savage Taitan especially gave him orders that should their lives be in danger, he can do as he sees fit to see to their safety, and they knew it.
When they were out of view, his expression changed to one of great unease as cold sweat soaked his robes. He looked at his wound with a touch of fear.
That attack penetrated his defences and would have killed him had it penetrated his heart.
Long Di’s earlier attacks only landed superficial wounds, but this one ran straight through him!
“What a terrifying child,” he remarked. “No killing intent, but he can kill at the drop of a hat.”
