“Though I saw this coming. How long was I cultivating for? Haven’t they only been gone for like a few minutes?”

We were walking as I started to question them. I swear people like to exaggerate things that don’t need to be exaggerated.

I mean, I’m here cultivating for like 20 minutes and already we got something that’s gone up shiznit creek. I knew something like this was bound to happen.

“You’ve been cultivating for 2 hours. W-We wanted to reach out to you, but the pressure from you cultivating was too much for us, so we could only wait until you were finished… well? Say something already!”

If you are wondering why she is asking for me to say something, it is because I paused with a look of horror on my face while my expression remains unchanged. If you’re wondering how that works, I have nothing to say to you.

How did so much time passed, and I didn’t even know? Goodness, couldn’t I and Pebbles have this skill back on earth with our alcoholic uncles? Man is life unfair.

“Hold on, why not do something without me? I mean, what do you do when something like this happened in the past?” I asked Feng Yu.

“W-We never needed to do something before because like this never happened before,” Feng Yu said as panic ran amok on her face.

Darn it. This is the curse of being an MC. Something just has to happen for some reason because I’m here.

“Alright, fine. Here is what we’re going to do. We’re going to look for them… with me, I guess. There are two likely plotlines at work here. One is that they are being hunted and/or trapped by a magical beast that they are unable to defeat and cannot make their way over to us, or two, they are trapped by people who don’t like you and have ulterior motives, AKA enemies.”

“Wait, h-how do you know this?” Feng Yu asked me. I could see the anxiousness riding within her by the minute. Is this really a good time to ask me how do I know about this.

Before I answered her, I sensed something unusual and quite frankly it made me feel even more prone to invasion than a celebrity’s personal life and I did not like it.

Vrrm!

If you’re wondering what that SFX was for, then look no further. I just generated a shield or dome, I should say, composed entirely of tribulation lightning.

After doing that, the feeling that didn’t understand the concept of personal privacy went away. Thank goodness, could you imagine what it would feel like being on the toilet and the same thing happens?

It would probably cause you to involuntary clench, aaaaand I’m going off track… back to the situation at hand.

“What is this?” Shen Ling asked with a look of wonder.

“The paparazzi’s bane,” I answered.

“What?”

“Do either of you have a weapon? Like a sword or something?” I didn’t want to waste too much time.

“Uhm yeah,” Feng Yu answered absentmindedly, taking out a sword from her storage ring before handing it over to Long Di.

When she realised what she’d done, her cheeks turned red in embarrassment. Because of their financial situation, she didn’t have a proper weapon. The sword she just took out was a normal weapon.

In reality, its craftsmanship was unparalleled, but in the end, it was just a mortal weapon and couldn’t do much to cultivators or for cultivators.

“Good stuff,” this weapon is truly a cut above the rest. Whoever made this is truly talented.

“Who made this?” I asked her, I was actually interested.

“It was given to me by the first elder,” she replied.

I could feel my eyebrows rising ever so slightly, “Well, colour me surprised.”

“Well, it’s gonna need some work for my purpose, unfortunately.”

I summoned tribulation lightning in my hand that held the sword and compelled it to fuse with the sword, which caused cracks to appear all over its surface.

What are you doing!?”

“Save you and Shen Ling’s lives along with the wolf boys,” I didn’t feel like answering Feng Yu’s question, but I did, considering that this was probably a gift from her master.

“How did you come to the conclusion you came to before,” Shen Ling asked me.

I guess I never did answer that question now that I think about it, “Easy. the plot needs to continue and these are the most likely candidates You won’t understand being a part of the plot and everything.

“Forget about that and hear me out now.” I was no longer playing around at this time.

“Everything that I’m about to tell you, do exactly as I tell you. If you deviate from the plan, your friends can only be saved if I expend more effort, and I am very lazy… which means they will die.”

After that, I explained to them my plan. I swear I haven’t read any novel that had any eleven-year-old doing this much work, but oh well.

After I was done, I dispelled the shield and the same feeling came over me again.

I was just about to move off when my spidey senses went off and I felt the cultivation level of one of the existences in the forest.

“Well, slap my dumper bumper and call me dem cheeks, this is gonna need some mending."

“What do you me-”

Krrshhh!

“W-What are you doing!?” Feng Yu asked me in shock when she saw the grey lightning dancing wildly around my arm.

“Hmm…” I didn’t answer her since what I was going to do was… I wanna say unethical.

Then again, most mainline cultivation novels have genocide level slaughter happening on the daily, sometimes by the MC themselves, so I’m gonna push my morality (or what’s left of it) aside for the moment.

She watched as my arm drowned in tribulation lightning shot towards her.

“Aaaah!”

“What do we do now? These two don’t know anything.”

Deep in the valley was a group of cultivators wearing black robes along with masks to mask their identities. In the middle was a steel cage that held the two missing male disciples, Tie Lang and the normally reticent Jia Yan.

Their faces were filled with fear and confusion once again. This was the second time in a short span of time that they’ve been kidnapped.

It was almost as if their lives were given a bit more importance due to the arrival of something and that it was using them as side characters to magnify the importance of that something.

“Don’t worry, the other disciples are somewhere in the valley as well. All we need to do is to watch out for the human, he’s the one we want, anyway. Besides, we have a bronze seat with us. What do we need to fear?”

Mentioning this, all the cultivators turned to the back where there sat a figure with his eyes closed, another figure in black seemingly detached from the rest in both behaviour and demeanour.

He wore no mask, but his face appeared to be covered by a crudely constructed bronze helmet.

His cultivation base couldn’t be felt by any of them, but the aura that he released alone told them that his power was unfathomable.

Their expressions were filled with fear and respect as they stared at him.

“So what do we do now? Do we go after the rest of them?” One person asked.

“Yes, but we can’t be carele-”

Suddenly bronze helmet figure’s eyes flashed open in slight surprise.

“Interesting, they’ve come of their own volition and what an interesting development we have here as well.”

These were the first words that this figure spoke since he’s been here, causing a hush to fall over the conversation that the other figures were having.

His voice sounded like metal grinding on metal, extremely uncomfortable to the ears.

As soon as he said this, a ruffle came from the bushes nearby and out came two figures. One of them had tears streaming down her face while the other appeared indignant.

“Senior sister Feng Yu and apprentice sister Shen Ling!”

“Shut up!” the black-robed figures shouted, silencing their captives.

Jia Yan and Tie Lang were both excited and scared at seeing Feng Yu and Shen Ling. For one, they were grateful to know their friends were okay, but at the same time, they were scared to know they were now discovered by these mysterious figures.

“Get them!”

The black-robed figures roared while their cultivation bases exploded as cauldrons of differing grades appeared behind them.

Their cultivation averaged at around one or two star cores. These men were all Martial Masters!

“Stand down, all of you!”

The so-called bronze seat shouted, causing all the charging figures to freeze in place.

All of them were confused as to why the bronze seat refused to let them capture them. What if they ran away?

Of course, they wouldn’t escape or anything, but at the same time, it would be a bit more troublesome.

“Why don’t you come out now?”

The bushes rustled once more and out came Long Di. He was behind the girls and he wore that same impassive expression.

“Hello everyone, my name’s Long Di, and who may I say I have the pleasure of speaking with?”

Long Di came out of the bushes fearlessly and even went as far as to introduce himself with all the etiquette found in a 5-star customer service call centre.

“Amusing,” the bronze seat said, before standing up.

Long Di’s eyes furrowed when he heard him, and he entered deep thought as well because he knew he had to get to the bottom of this.

Long Di was just about to open his mouth when the bronze seat pre-empted him, “I’ll call you brave for not running away, even after you sensed me here. Your mental cultivation must be quite advanced if you were able to sense my cultivation the way you did.”

It was obvious at this point that the existence Long Di sensed within the forest was the mysterious figure before him.

“I can tell you made a plan with these girls, but when you sensed my power you changed your mind and even attacked the stronger disciple to bring her and the other one over to us.”

His words struck everyone like lightning, especially the two captured disciples. They couldn’t believe their ears.

Did Long Di truly betray them, simply to save his own skin? They looked at him, hoping for some refusal to this mysterious person’s words, but he said nothing as if it was tacit approval to what he said.

Furthermore, when they looked at Feng Yu and saw that she had tears streaming down her face, they knew he was speaking the truth. In addition, there was a wound on her shoulder that she held to keep blood from flowing out.

The other black-robed figures relax, hearing their leader’s words.

“Unfortunately, you have no idea what our true goal is. You are not even aware that you are the reason we are here. Not… these brats, but you and the thing you used to cause trouble…” his sight drifted to the sword that Long Di held.

‘Seems the rumours were right. There is a weapon here held by this brat that contains tribulation lighting. Those cracks probably tell the story of its age and it's so profound that I cannot even tell its grade, I cannot sense it all!’

“I only have one question,” Long Di’s expression was the same, but the tension was palpable, the situation unstable.

One wrong word from either party could cause a disaster. After all, though Long Di was strong, his strength was weaker than the collective group, and he was much weaker than the figure who called him out.

However, that sword, the sword in his hand, if erupted by him, could cause serious casualties, and the mysterious figure knew it.

He thought that Long Di would bargain his life for the sword, “Ask.”

His voice echoed once more, a metal groan that hurt the senses, causing even Long Di to flinch.

As he thought of how to construct his question, his hands subconsciously tightened around the handle of the sword.

All the others went on edge when they saw this, ‘Would he fight?’

“Steady.”

The mysterious figure calmed his men. He himself didn’t react. After all, he felt no energy from Long Di and knew he was not preparing to strike, but was about to ask what he wanted.

It was probably the pressure bearing down on him that compelled the slightest of actions.

“I just have one question,” Long Di finally looked back up at the figure before him. He took a deep breath in before breathing out.

IS there something in your throat?”
